Yu-Gi-Oh! Wiki

The Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2013, also abbreviated as WCS 2013, was a Yu-Gi-Oh! Official (OCG) and Trading Card Game (TCG) tournament that was held at the Bally's Las Vegas Hotel and Casino from 10 - 11 August 2013, being the most prestigious and final event of the 2012-2013 season. It was held alongside the Yu-Gi-Oh! Dragon Duel World Championship 2013.

This tournament was notable for being the World Championship with the least diverse format (outside of the very early World Championships before Archetypes existed). Apart from one Dragon Duel competitor, who used a "Stun" deck, everyone else played "Dragon Ruler" or "Spellbook" decks, with "Dragon Ruler" being the defining deck of the format and "Spellbook" the only other strategy capable of keeping up with it.[1][2]

Fittingly, the finals of both tournaments were "Dragon Ruler" vs. "Spellbook" matches, with "Dragon Ruler" winning both of them. In the TCG/OCG category, it was Shin En Huang from Taiwan who beat David Keener from the US. In Dragon Duel, Oliver Tomajko from the US won against Mao Goto from Japan.[3]
