Yu-Gi-Oh! Wiki

"Catch the Wind! Storm Access" is the second episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime. It first aired in Japan on May 17, 2017.

Yusaku managed to capture the Mysterious Lifeform as he chases after the Knights of Hanoi. In order to defeat them, he logs into the VR Space network, Link VRAINS, as Playmaker. He commenced a Duel, holding the lifeform as a hostage. However, the lifeform predicted that "Yusaku can't win with his deck", and performed a certain action...

Featured Duel: Playmaker vs. Knight of Hanoi

The Duel is done as per the rules of Speed Duel.

Turn 1: Knight of Hanoi
As Playmaker controls no monsters, KoH Special Summons 2 copies of "Hack Worm" (400/0 each) from his hand in Attack Position. He then Tributes both to Tribute Summon "Cracking Dragon" (3000/0). KoH's hand contains "Aircrack Storm"

Turn 2: Playmaker
Playmaker draws "Cyberse Wizard". He sets 2 cards ("Cyberse Beacon" and "Three-Strike Barrier"), then Normal Summons "Cyberse Wizard" (1800/800), but KoH activates the effect of "Cracking Dragon", reducing the ATK of "Cyberse Wizard" by 200 for each of its Levels and inflicting the same amount of ATK lost as damage to Playmaker (Cyberse Wizard: 1800 → 1000/800; Playmaker 4000 → 3200). Playmaker activates the effect of "Cyberse Wizard", targeting "Cracking Dragon", changing it from Attack Position to Defense Position. "Cyberse Wizard" attacks "Cracking Dragon", but the effect of "Cracking Dragon" prevents it from being destroyed by battle with a monster with a level lower than or equal to "Cracking Dragon". The effect of "Cyberse Wizard" allows all Cyberse monsters that Playmaker controls to deal piercing battle damage (KoH 4000 → 3000). During the End Phase, the ATK of "Cyberse Wizard" returns to normal ("Cyberse Wizard": 1000 → 1800/800)

Turn 3: Knight of Hanoi
KoH draws 2 cards ("DDoS Attack" and "Pulse Bomb"). KoH activates "DDoS Attack", targeting "Cracking Dragon" and sending 2 "DDoS Attack" from his deck to the GY to deal damage equal to the Level of "Cracking Dragon" multiplied by the number of "DDoS Attack" sent to the GY by the effect of "DDoS Attack" multiplied by 100. The Level of "Cracking Dragon" is 8, so Playmaker takes 1600 damage (Playmaker 3200 → 1600)

KoH sets a card ("Pulse Bomb") and changes "Cracking Dragon" from Defense Position to Attack Position. He then equips "Aircrack Storm" to "Cracking Dragon". Now, when "Cracking Dragon" destroys Playmaker's monster by battle, it can make a second attack during that same Battle Phase. "Cracking Dragon" attacks "Cyberse Wizard", but Playmaker activates his face-down "Three-Strike Barrier", as KoH controls three cards ("Cracking Dragon", "Aircrack Storm" and a face-down "Pulse Bomb"), choosing the effect that prevents monsters he controls from being destroyed by battle (Playmaker 1600 → 400). As "Cyberse Wizard" was not destroyed by battle, "Cracking Dragon" cannot make a second attack, so KoH ends his turn.

At this point, Playmaker obtains "Decode Talker" and adds it to his Extra Deck

Turn 4: Playmaker
Playmaker draws a card. He then activates the effect of "Cyberse Wizard" to change "Cracking Dragon" to Defense Position and allow all Cyberse monsters Playmaker controls to deal Piercing battle damage. The effect resolves, but KoH then activates his face-down "Pulse Bomb". As KoH controls a Machine monster, since Playmaker controls an Attack Position monster, it is changed to Defense Position, also whenever Playmaker Normal or Special Summons a monster this turn, it is changed to Defense Position. Playmaker Normal Summons "Stack Reviver" (100/600). The effect of "Pulse Bomb" activates, and "Stack Reviver" is changed to Defense Position. KoH activates the effect of "Cracking Dragon" activates, reducing the ATK of "Stack Reviver" by 200 for each of its Levels and inflicting the same amount of ATK lost as damage to Playmaker. The Level of "Stack Reviver" is 2, so the effect of "Cracking Dragon" would have decreased the ATK of "Stack Reviver" by 400 and dealing the same amount to Playmaker as damage, resulting in a loss, however, the original ATK of "Stack Reviver" is 100, so the effect of "Cracking Dragon only deals 100 damage to Playmaker ("Stack Reviver": 100 → 0/600; Playmaker 400 → 300). Playmaker activates "Effect Cowl", then activates his face-down "Cyberse Beacon" as he took damage from a card effect to add a Level 4 or lower Cyberse monster from the Deck to his hand. Playmaker adds "Backup Secretary", and, as Playmaker controls a Cyberse monster, subsequently Special Summons it by its own effect in Defense Position. The effect of "Cracking Dragon" does not activate.

Playmaker then uses "Cyberse Wizard", "Stack Reviver" and "Backup Secretary" to Link Summon "Decode Talker" (2300/LINK-3/↑↙↘) in the Extra Monster Zone. As Link Monsters cannot exist in Defense Position, the effect of "Pulse Bomb" does not activate. The effect of "Stack Reviver" activates.
