"Duel the Lightning!", known as "Bolt Out of the Blue!!" in the Japanese version, is the one-hundred-and-eighty-eighth chapter of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelist and the two-hundred-and-forty-seventh chapter of Yu-Gi-Oh!.

Featured Duel: Katsuya Jonouchi vs. Dark Marik[]

Turn 9: Jonouchi

Jonouchi Draws the Spell Card "Foolish Burial". The "Lava Golem" launches a Direct attack on Dark Marik. In response, Dark Marik activates the Trap Card "Monster Relief. Dark Marik targets "Viser Des" and returns it from the field to his hand, then Special Summons it in Attack Position, resetting its three turn immortality effect. "Lava Golem"'s effect activates, and Jonouchi loses 700 LP. (Jonouchi: 2600) "Helpoemer"'s effect activates, and Jonouchi discards a random card to the Graveyard.

Turn 10: Dark Marik
Dark Marik Draws. He sets a card face-down, then activates the Spell Card "Machine Duplication". Using "Machine Duplication"'s Effect, he Special Summons two more "Viser Des" (500/? Each) He then uses the Effect of both Viser Des to latch onto "Rocket Warrior" and "Lava Golem".

Turn 11: Jonouchi
Jonouchi Draws "Gilford the Lightning". Jonouchi plays the Spell Card "Graceful Dice" and targets Dark Marik's "Viser Des". He rolls a 6, changing "Viser Des"'s ATK to 3000. Since that increased "Viser Des's" ATK to above 500, the Effect of "Machine Duplication" is negated, and the other two "Viser Des"'s are destroyed. Jonouchi then Tributes "Lava Golem", "Panther Warrior", and "Rocket Warrior" to Tribute Summon "Gilford the Lightning."
