Combo of Despair!! is the 114th chapter of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelist. In the Japanese manga it is 173th chapter of Yu-Gi-Oh!.

Marik Summons "Slifer the Sky Dragon," the second of the Egyptian God cards, and his powerful combo drives Yugi into a corner, but Dark Yugi continues to fight back.

Featured Duel: Dark Yugi vs. The Doll/Marik[]

Turn 11: The Doll
The Doll has just Summoned "Slifer the Sky Dragon." (X000/X000) The effect of "Slifer" increases its ATK and DEF by 1000 times the number of cards in The Doll's hand, and he holds three. (Slifer: X000->3000/X000->3000) The effect of "Buster Blader" increases its ATK by 500 for every Dragon on the Doll's side of the field, so "Buster Blader" gains 500 ATK. (Buster Blader: 2600->3100) The Doll's hand contains "Infinite Cards," "Card of Safe Return," and an unknown Slime monster.

Turn 12: Dark Yugi
Dark Yugi draws. Dark Yugi's hand contains "Kuriboh," "Spellbinding Circle," "Lightforce Sword" and three unknown cards. Dark Yugi Sets two cards, then Normal Summons "Kuriboh" in Defense Position. At the end of Dark Yugi's turn, "Nightmare Steel Cage" is destroyed, allowing Dark Yugi to attack and be attacked.

Turn 13: The Doll
The Doll draws. Since the Doll has four cards in his hand, "Slifer's" ATK and DEF increase to 4000. "Slifer the Sky Dragon" attacks "Buster Blader," but Dark Yugi activates his Set Spell Card "Lightforce Sword," removing one card in The Doll's hand from play for four of The Doll's turns. Since The Doll only has three cards, "Slifer's" ATK and DEF decrease to 3000. "Buster Blader" counterattacks, but The Doll activates his Set Permanent Trap Card, "Jam Defender," switching the attack target to "Revival Jam." "Revival Jam" is destroyed, then Special Summoned from the Graveyard. Before it is Summoned, The Doll activates Permanent Spell Card "Card of Safe Return" from his hand (Slifer: 3000->2000/3000->2000), allowing him to draw three cards each time a monster is Special Summoned from the Graveyard. "Revival Jam" is then Special Summoned, allowing The Doll to draw three cards. (Slifer: 2000->5000/2000->5000) "Slifer the Sky Dragon" attacks and destroys "Buster Blader." (Yugi: 2100)
