"The Fortunetelling Girl - Mieru Hochun" is the twenty-second episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V anime. It first aired in Japan on September 7, 2014.

Yuya challenges the divination girl Mieru Hochun to a Duel, as his third one to earn the qualifications for the Junior Youth Championship. Even at the beginning, Yuya is already played around with by Mieru, who uses Flip Summon monsters. Mieru even correctly predicts that Yuya "cannot see what is in front of him" and launches a brutal assault with her pride-and-joy Ritual Monsters, causing Yuya to be unable to focus. Also, Mieru makes an inauspicious divination for Yuya...

Mieru Hochun vs. Yuya

At the start of the Duel, the Field Spell Card "Fortune Terra" is activated, as per the rules of an Action Duel. It will allow the players to use Action Cards, but they may only have one in their hand at a time.

Turn 1: Mieru
Mieru Sets a monster.

Turn 2: Yuya
Yuya draws "Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon" and his hand contains "Performapal Hammer Mammoth", "Performapal Springoose", "Performapal Kaleidoscorp", "Performapal Partnaga", and "Stargazer Magician". Since the best possible Pendulum Scale for him is between 1-4, and all his monster are above Level 4, he isn't able to summon any monsters.

Turn 3: Mieru
Mieru Flip Summons "Coinorma the Sibyl" (800/1400). Its Flip Effect activates, letting her Set 1 Level 4 or lower Flip Effect Monster directly from her hand, Deck or Graveyard. "Coinorma the Sibyl" attacks directly, but Yuya finds and activates the Action Card "Great Misfortune", which deals him 800 damage instead (Yuya 4000 → 3200) and the attack continues (Yuya 3200 → 2400). She then Tributes "Coinorma the Sibyl" and Advanced Set a monster. Mieru Sets a card.

Turn 4: Yuya
Yuya draws and Normal Summons "Performapal Bowhopper" (1500/1000). Yuya declares an attack on the previously Set monster. But Mieru activates her face-down "Glare of the Black Cat", which allows her to end her opponent's Battle Phase, if she controls 2 or more face-down Defense Position monsters. Yuya's Battle Phase ends as a result.

Turn 5: Mieru
Mieru Flip Summons "Arrowsylph the Sibyl" (1000/1400). Its Flip Effect activates, letting her add 1 Ritual Spell Card from her Deck or Graveyard to her hand. She adds "Ritual of the Sibylla" for her deck to her hand via this effect. She then Flip Summons the previously Advanced Set "Crystal Undine the Sibyl" (1400/2200) whose Flip Effect activates, letting her add 1 Ritual Monster from her Deck or Graveyard to her hand. She adds "Tarotray the Sibylla". She activates "Ritual of the Sibylla", tributing "Arrowsylph the Sibyl" and "Crystal Undine the Sibyl" who have a total level of 9 to Ritual Summon Level 9 "Tarotray the Sibylla" (2700/1200) in Attack Position. "Tarotray the Sibylla" attacks and destroys "Performapal Bowhopper" (Yuya 2400 → 1300). Mieru Sets a monster.

Turn 6: Yuya
Yuya draws "Timegazer Magician". He then places "Timgazer Magcian" (Scale 8) into the Left Pendulum Zone and "Stargazer Magician" (Scale 1) in the right Pendulum Zone. Yuya Pendulum Summons "Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon" (2500/2000) & "Performapal Hammer Mammoth" (2600/1800) in Attack Position and "Performapal Kaleidoscorp" (100/2300), "Performapal Partnaga" (500/2100) & "Performapal Springoose" (1100/2400) in Defense Position. The effect of "Partnaga" activates upon its Summon, allowing Yuya to target a monster he controls and increase its ATK by 300 for each "Performapal" monster he controls. Yuya targets "Odd-Eyes" (2500 → 3700). Yuya declares the attack of "Odd-Eyes" on "Tarotray", but Mieru activates one of its effect which allows her to change all her face-down Defense Position monsters to Attack Position. This effect allows the Flip Summon of "Petal Elf the Sibyl" (800/700) whose Flip Effect activates, allowing her to change all face-up Attack Position monsters her opponent controls to Defense Position, and then the monsters her opponent controls cannot change their battle positions until the end of this turn.

Duel continues in the next episode.
