"Swing into Action: Part 2", known as "The Strongest Evolution of Dueling!! Its Name Is Action Duel" in the Japanese version, is the second episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V anime. It first aired in Japan on April 13, 2014, and in Canada on July 31, 2015. It became available with official subtitles via Crunchyroll on November 15, 2016.

Yuya's challenged the reigning Champion "the Sledgehammer" to a Duel. But when he's driven into a corner with no way out, Yuya performs the never-before seen "Pendulum Summon"... Yuya's battle with the Sledgehammer gives birth to "Pendulum Summoning"! This drives the Stadium audience wild. After the match, the "You Show Duel School" is hit by a flood of applicants. Yuya Duels Zuzu in a test match to test his newfound Pendulum Summon, expecting a flood of cheers, but...!?

Zuzu recaps how Yuya is taking on The Sledgehammer. She explains how Yuya had acted like a clown over three years because he was afraid of getting hurt but he was able to overcome his issues. Zuzu states it is very hard to beat a pro like The Slegehammer, however the screen then cuts to Yuya Pendulum Summoning for the first time.

In LID's tower, a high level summoning signal has been detected and the staff analyze it. The staff type away at their computers and the analysis is complete. The word "Pendulum" appears and catches one of the members of staff by surprise.

Back in the duel "Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon" roars as it stands with Yuya and "Whip Snake" and "Sword Fish". Sledgehammer questions how he was able to summon a monster like "Odd-Eyes" which is a Level 7 without tributing. Nico appears on his duel disk communication screen and says the Summon is legal.

Yuya commands "Whip Snake" to use it's effect which switches "Battleguard King" ATK and DEF. "Whip Snake" swings a metronome from it's tail and makes "Battleguard King" fall to it's knees and The Sledgehammer is forced to walk off it. Battleguard's ATK has now been reduced down to 1100. Yuya then uses "Sword Fish" effect. "Sword Fish" multiples to make many new "Sword Fish" and they fly off and land around the Battleguard King. This effect reduces the ATK of Battleguard King by 600, "Battleguard King" now has 500 ATK. Yuya commands Odd-Eyes to attack Battleguard King". "Odd-Eyes" eye's begins to light up and the orbs around it's body also glow. However Sledgehammer counters with the Trap "Battleguard Howling". The attacking monster will return to the hand and then Yuya will take damage equal to it's ATK. Yuya then responds by saying "Timegazer" can understand space and time and uses it's Pendulum effect. Once per turn when a Pendulum monster is targeted by a trap, "Timegazer" can negate it. A clock appears and goes backwards. Yuya shouts "Inverse Gear Width!" as Sledgehammers trap card is reset face down. Sledgehammer runs away and grabs the Action Card "Evasion" however Yuya then uses "Stargazer's" Pendulum effect which once per turn when a Pendulum monster battles, the spell is negated. Sledgehammer is shocked by this and runs off to find another Action Card however Yuya commands "Odd-Eyes" to attack while riding on his monster. "Odd-Eyes" leaps into the air as Yuya commands "Spiral Strike Burst!" Odd-Eyes unleashes a dark red beam form it's mouth. "Battleguard King" hits the attack with it's club and Sledgehammer says he will get Yuya next turn. However Yuya counters by saying "Odd-Eyes" effect is that when it battles a LVL 5 or higher monster then all battle damage is doubled. The attack goes through and Yuya wins the duel with the crowd silenced in astonishment.

Skip Boyle then cry's with excitement and Yuya then seems to be surprised at what just happened. Yuya then looks over to see Skip, Yuzu, Gong and Yoko all cheering after he beat the Sledgehammer. The crowd then follows by cheering. People in crowd start talking about how they have never seen Pendulum Summoning before. The Sledgehammer wonders what happened but is knocked down again as Nico runs over him. Nico runs over to Yuya to ask how he pulled of the Pendulum Summon.

In LID towers a male with a red scard walks in with a man in a suit holding a hoographic tablet following. They speak about Yuya and his history aswell as his win record which is around 50%. They then speak about Yuya's Duel School and his Father Yusho. Declan speaks about how Yusho disappeared three years ago and Yuya then performed an unknown Summon. Declan orders Claude to do a background check on Yuya and if anything of note about Pendulum Summoning comes up then he is to report it to him.

Outside of You Show Duel School there is a huge line of people queuing up. Ally and Frederick who are two current students looked amazed at the numbers. Inside Zuzu is holding an application form and tells the would be students to fill them in, she seems overwhelmed with the amount of people. Ally and Frederick enter via a elevator and say hello to Zuzu and she says hello back. Ally asks where Skip is and Zuzu responds that Skip is at the back hugging the new ARC System. Skip is seen crying with tears of joy while hugging a box.

Ally comments that Yuya is the savior of You Show and Frederick says how cool the Pendulum Summon was. A would be student asks if they will show them how to Pendulum Summon and Zuzu responds that they will but only peopel who apply can see it. The crowd goes wild and Zuzu has to tell them to get in a line. She then moans to herself about having to be Yuya's competitor in a "mock battle" but she doesn't have time to get ready. As she talks to herself Gong enters via the elevator and says he will replace Zuzu as Yuya's opponent. However Ally says this is Zuzu's responsibility and Frederick says it would be embarrassing to get help from a rival school. They slowly push Gong back into the elevator and Ally says they will handle things from here while Zuzu prepares. As Zuzu runs off she sees Tate who was there before. Zuzu comments how he is back at the School.

Skip is standing in a hallway with the would be students. He is speaking about how You Show teaches Dueltaining which was made popular thanks to Yusho Sakaki. Skip then continues to speak as the applicants get bored of hearing his speech. Yuya then chants his catchphrase and the crowd turns to look at the duel field, leaving an embarrassed Skip behind.

Yuya has a spotlight shine on him. Yuya comments saying "Welcome to my one man-show." However Zuzu slaps him with her fan and is annoyed with Yuya's comments and says he can't duel on his own. Two girls comment how horrible Zuzu is for hitting Yuya and tells her to leave him then the entire crowd starts to yell at Zuzu. Zuzu looks annoyed but she accepts she has to play the role of the villain. Zuzu then says she will pummel Yuya. Yuya looks on with a lost expression and Zuzu comes in to say to Yuya that he has to reply back to her threat. Yuya calls her a female Sledgehammer. This enrages Zuzu while Ally asks Gong to turn on the ARC System, in which he does begrudgingly. He comments there treating him like a servant.

The Duel Field changes into a grassy area with a pond. Skip comments how realistic the system is. Both Zuzu and Yuya activate their duel disks and both yell "Duel!" Yuya says he will go first and Normal Summons "Performapal Hip Hippo". The crowd comment how "Hip Hippo" is how Yuya searches for Action Cards. Yuya ends his turn and runs off on his Hippo. Zuzu says she won't allow that to happen.

She draws and summons "Aria the Melodious Diva". She commands it to attack and she does by flying in the air and launching a soundwave attack at "Hippo". Yuya sees an Action Card on a tree and grabs it. He then activates the card which is "Evasion", the card allows Yuya to negate the attack. Zuzu then uses "Aria's " effect which is when it fails to inflict battle damage it can then inflict 800 points of damage to Yuya. "Aria" then launches another soundwave like attack Yuya. The attack hits Yuya and sends he and his "Hippo" flying. Yuya is now down to 3200 LP. Zuzu comes running over and laughs, she then comments saying that Yuya can't escape her. Zuzu proceeds to end her turn.

Yuya sits up while in pain. Zuzu runs over and says she is acting like a villain and wants Yuya to defeat her by doing something cool. Ally, Frederick and the crowd all start chanting "Pendulum." Zuzu then says that everyone is looking forward it. Yuya is spurred on by this and jumps to his feet. Yuya chants his catchphrase and does a pose towards the crowd along with his "Hippo." Zuzu is embarrassed by this and says she meant do something cool and not striking a cool pose.

Yuya draws "Timegazer Magician" and then looks at his hand. He says he can't remember how he Pendulum Summoned so he will have to do it like he saw on TV. Yuya then sets the Pendulum Scale with Scale 4 "Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon" and Scale 8 "Timegazer Magician". The monsters rise into the sky and the crowd cheer on the Pendulum Summon by chanting and clapping. Yuya holds up "Performapal Swordfish" and "Performpal Whip-Snake" as he tries to summon them. Everyone but Zuzu seems excited. The screen then cuts to a big "ERROR" message on Yuya's duel disk. Everyone in the crowd is speechless at the lack of Pendulum Summoning. Yuya looks embarrassed and says to his monsters to come out like last time. He places them on his duel disk and once again gets the error message. Yuya questions why his Pendulum Cards aren't working. Two boys in the crowd question what Pendulum Cards are. Yuya then tries to remember what happened in his duel V the Sledgehammer. He comments how he was put into a pinch after after his "Odd-Eyes" was destroyed. Yuya then seems to think it will only work if he is in a pinch and compares it to how all stories go. Yuya then ends his turn and commands Zuzu to attack him. Zuzu is taken back by this and Yuya tells her to not hold back. Skip tells Zuzu to attack and Zuzu's agrees.

Zuzu draws and states she can Special Summon "Sonata the Melodious Diva" while she controls a Melodious monster and she does so. Both monsters rise into the sky as Zuzu Tribute Summons using them. She brings out "Mozarta the Melodious Maestra". She uses it's effect allowing her to Special Summon a Melodious Diva from her hand. Zuzu brings out another "Aria". Zuzu says she will get rid of "Hippo" and commands "Aria" to attack it. The attack destroys it and reduces Yuya's  LP to 2400. Yuya commands Zuzu to come at him while the others all chant and clap once more. Zuzu orders Mozerta to attack Yuya directly. Mozerta opens up it's wings and her wings glow. She fires a strong blast at Yuya directly. Yuya comments how he is now in a pinch and yells he will Pendulum Summon. He places "Whip-Snake" and "Swordfish" onto his duel disk but once again gets an error message. Yuya is left speechless and is sent flying into the virtual wall as he loses. Everyone is stunned at this as Yuya lands in a tree just as his LP hits 0.

Everyone remains in silence as Frederick asks if it is over. Ally asks what about the Pendulum Summoning. Zuzu comes over and asks "What the big deal is?" Yuya tries to explain. Yuya and Zuzu are now standing infront of the crowd. Yuya is hunched over with embarrassment. A boy in the crowd raises his hand to ask a question. He asks what these "Pendulum Cards" are. Zuzu is unsure at what these are and also asks Yuya. Yuya says he doesn't know the official name and he just calls them that. Zuzu asks Yuya to show them to her, in which he does. Zuzu holds her deck in her left hand and Yuya's in her right. She looks at the two decks and compares them. The top card of her deck is a normal effect monster in "Aria" while the top card of Yuya's is the Pendulum card "Timegazer". One of the boys says you can't Pendulum Summon without a Pendulum card and the other questions if Pendulum Summon is real. Another says he must have tricked the system against the Sledgehammer.  The crowds then proceed to exit the School as Yuya tries to stop them but they ignore him. Skip jumps infront of them but is stampeded over.

Yuya is now full on depressed and pulls down his goggles, he swalks off. Zuzu tries to stop him but he ignores her. Tate shouts to him that Yuya isn't a cheat and that he won fair and square. Gong puts his hands onto Tate's shoulders and tells Yuya about is he feeling bad that his first fan had to say this. Yuya asks "first fan?" and Zuzu explains how Tate has been there before. Ally explains that he became his fan after seeing his duel against the Sledgehammer. Tate explains how he wants to duel like Yuya.

Yuya says to himself how he wishes to duel infront of a large crowd once more. Gong says how Yuya will never run away again after that duel. Ally and Tate celebrate about Tate enrolling. Skip hears about Tate enrolling and then gets up and also celebrates. Yuya smiles and lifts up his goggles, he then says he can't let his fans down. Zuzu gives Yuya his deck back and he vows to master his new Summon. He then asks Zuzu and Gong to duel him and they all rush off.

Meanwhile a blonde male is speaking to someone via his duel disk while he throws darts at a poster. He is told to steal the Pendulum cards and in exchange they will give him any rare cards he wants. He agrees to this and smirks. The poser is revealed to be a picture of Yuya which has darts pinned into his face.

Featured Duels

Yuya Sakaki vs. The Sledgehammer

Duel continues from the previous episode.

Yuya has 400 LP remaining, no cards in his hand, and controls "Performapal Whip Snake" (1700/900), "Performapal Sword Fish" (600/600) and "Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon" (2500/2000) all in Attack Position, "Stargazer Magician" (Right Pendulum Scale 1) and "Stargazer Magician" (Left Pendulum Scale 8) in his Pendulum Zones, and no Set cards.
The Sledgehammer has 4000 LP remaining, no cards in his hand, and controls "Battleguard King" (5000/1100) in Attack Position and a Set card.

Turn 5: Yuya
Yuya activates the effect of "Performapal Whip Snake", switching the ATK and DEF of "Battleguard King" until the End Phase ("Battleguard King": 5000 → 1100/1100 → 5000). He then activates the effect of "Performapal Sword Fish", letting him target and reduce the ATK of a monster his opponent controls by 600 ("Battleguard King" 1100 → 500/5000). "Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon" attacks "Battleguard King", but the Sledgehammer activates his face-down "Battleguard Howling" as a "Battleguard" monster he controls is being attacked. This would let him target and return the attacking monster to the hand and inflict damage to his opponent equal to that monster's ATK. Yuya activates the Pendulum Effect of "Timegazer Magician" as a Trap Card that targets exactly 1 Pendulum Monster he controls was activated. This negates the activation and re-Sets the card. The Sledgehammer finds and activates the Action Card "Evasion", which would negate the attack. Yuya activates the Pendulum Effect of "Stargazer Magician" as a Spell Card that targets exactly 1 Pendulum Monster he controls was activated. This negates the effect and Sets the card, while preventing its activation for the remainder of this turn. The attack continues and Yuya activates the effect of "Pendulum Dragon", doubling the battle damage as it is battling a Level 5 or higher monster. "Battleguard King" is destroyed (The Sledgehammer: 4000 → 0 LP).

Yuya Sakaki vs. Zuzu Boyle

Yuya VS Yuzu ARCV-02

Yuya vs. Zuzu

At the start of the Duel, the Field Spell Card "Plain Plain" is activated, as per the rules of an Action Duel. It will allow the players to use Action Cards, but they may only have one in their hand at a time.

Turn 1: Yuya
Yuya Normal Summons "Performapal Hip Hippo" (800/800).

Turn 2: Zuzu
Zuzu Normal Summons "Aria the Melodious Diva" (1600/1200). "Aria" attacks "Hip Hippo", but Yuya finds and activates the Action Card "Evasion", which negates the attack. As "Aria" battled without inflicting battle damage, Zuzu activates the effect of "Aria", inflicting 800 damage to Yuya (Yuya: 4000 → 3200 LP).

Turn 3: Yuya
Yuya draws "Timegazer Magician". His hand contains "Timegazer Magician", "Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon", "Performapal Sword Fish", "Performapal Whip Snake" and "Wonder Balloons". Yuya activates "Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon" (Right Pendulum Scale 4) and "Timegazer Magician" (Left Pendulum Scale 8) in his Pendulum Zones. Yuya attempts to Pendulum Summon "Performapal Whip Snake" and "Performapal Sword Fish" from his hand, but since neither of their Levels are between the two Pendulum Scales (4 and 2 respectively), he cannot Pendulum Summon them and his Duel Disk gives an error. However, Yuya does not realize this requirement, and instead believes that he is unable to Pendulum Summon due to not being "in a pinch" as he was previously.

Turn 4: Zuzu
Zuzu draws. As she controls a "Melodious" monster, she Special Summons "Sonata the Melodious Diva" (1200/1000) from her hand in Attack Position via its own effect. She Tributes "Aria" and "Sonata" to Tribute Summon "Mozarta the Melodious Maestra" in Attack Position (2600/2000). Zuzu activates the effect of "Mozarta", letting her Special Summon a Level 4 or lower "Melodious" monster from her hand. She Special Summons another copy of "Aria" in Attack Position. "Aria" attacks and destroys "Hip Hippo" (Yuya: 3200 → 2400 LP). "Mozarta" attacks directly. Yuya, still under his previous belief and noting that he is now in a pinch, attempts to Pendulum Summon "Whip Snake" and "Sword Fish" again, but it fails a second time as he cannot Pendulum Summon during his opponent's turn in addition to the previous criteria. The attack continues (Yuya: 2400 → 0 LP).
