* Blackwings0605 has been a big help. Admin access can help greatly in the work he does. His familiarity with policies is good. His knowledge on how to handle conflicts isn't perfect, but seems about adequate. -- [[User:Deltaneos|Deltaneos]] ([[User talk:Deltaneos|talk]]) 01:02, February 2, 2011 (UTC)

Nomination

Seems like he could do with access to deleting images, and moving images (he's been using Template:Rename media, and asking on talk pages for a long time now). He seems to be very familiar with the image policy, copyright and licencing templates, and is constantly up to date with the anime and sets content. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 01:17, January 29, 2011 (UTC)

Questions for the candidate

Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve as an administrator. Please answer the following four questions to provide guidance for participants:

1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?
If I become the administrator, I will use move right the most such as move file to the correct name according to Image Policy, move articles and their subpages when the name is changed from OCG to TCG. I can do other administrative works like delete spam/vandalism pages, duplicated/suspended files, protect the new set pages and edit warring pages and block vandalism when it's necessary.
2. What do you consider to be your best contributions, and why?
My best contributions are uploaded almost OCG card images and keep the wiki up to date with the anime and sets content while avoid people posting speculations and giving wrong info. I want the wiki to be a more reliable source of information.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
Not really. I just find a bit annoying when a new user just come to this site and do anything as he/she wants without listening to other people comments. I'll send them the message to tell this user stop and hopefully they'll learn something from the wiki after their edits are reverted/deleted.
4. Do you regularly contribute to any other wikis? Are you an administrator or bureaucrat on any of them, or do you have accounts with similar roles on forums, blogs, etc.? Could you provide links, if so?
No. yugioh.wikia is my first wiki contribution.

Other editors may post optional questions for the candidate here.

Questions from Dinoguy1000
5. You say you want to perform file renames as an administrator. Do you know about {{OCG-TCG card image}}? Have you used it before?
Yes. I've heard about it and started testing it here. It's wonderful template because it helps new users understand our Image Policy better. The template still need development, though. Once the development is finished, It should be used widely, especially OCG image, which many of them will require image renaming when the TCG name is announced.
6. It looks like English is not your first language. Do you ever feel like you're having trouble communicating with other users, either because they don't seem to understand you, or you have trouble understanding them? Also, if I may ask (this is purely my personal curiosity; you don't have to answer if you don't want), what is your first language, and do you know any languages besides it and English?
Yes. English is my second language. However, I don't have much trouble communicating with others because they still understand me and I understand what they said as well even though my grammar is horrible in some cases.

More questions. Could you add your signature to the end of each answer, please? -- Deltaneos (talk) 02:04, January 31, 2011 (UTC)

7. Do you know what rollback is and when it's okay to use it?
User that have rollback right can revert all of edits by last contributor to last version that's not authored by that last contributor with one click. I think It's a good feature to fight against vandalism only because edit summary cannot be added and discourage the user that have edits reverted without explanations to contribute for this site. Blackwings0605 (talk) 07:56, January 31, 2011 (UTC)
8. If someone reports to you that a registered user is after vandalising three pages and asks you to block that user, what steps would you take?
I'll check that user contributors and revert that user edits if they're really vandalism. Then I'll leave a message on that user talk page and tell him to stop vandalising. If that user come back again and continue vandalising more pages, I'll block him for a short time. If that user isn't come back, a block wouldn't be necessary. Blackwings0605 (talk) 07:56, January 31, 2011 (UTC)
9. In which of the following cases is it okay to protect a page? Is there anything that should be checked before or done instead in some of the cases?
  • A. An article on an upcoming set.
  • B. A rulings page containing references, which keeps getting changed to false rulings by the same editor.
  • C. A user talk page, after the user asks to have it protected because they think someone is leaving mean messages to them.
  • D. An article on a Deck type where there has been an edit war for the past 20 minutes over the inclusion of a list of cards. If you choose to protect this page, which version would you lock it on?
  • A. It's okay to protect the page from editing by new and unregistered users as we discussed in Forum:Upcoming sets protection.
  • B. Block that editor. Protect the page'll prevent other users from adding the information when the new rulings are updated.
  • C. I'll ask the user to move the message to a page that belongs to him and explain to him that if I protect his talk page, other contributors can't talk to him.
  • D. I'll protect the page. Which version isn't the matter. Then I'll leave messages on both users that participated in the edit wars to tell them calm down and start discussing with the community in the article's talk page for a final resolution. Blackwings0605 (talk) 07:56, January 31, 2011 (UTC)
Mostly good. For B, blocking might be hasty. A lot of the times when rulings get changed to false ones, the editor thinks their version is correct and doesn't understand the whole references system. It may be better to try explaining to them where the correct rulings come from. -- Deltaneos (talk) 00:46, February 2, 2011 (UTC)
10. If you find two Card Trivia pages for the same card; One which was made before the card article got moved and wasn't moved with it and one which was made after the page move, what would you do?
First, I'll delete the new made trivia. Then, I'll move the old article trivia to the new title. Finally, I'll undelete/restore the content deleted to make a history merge. Blackwings0605 (talk) 07:56, January 31, 2011 (UTC)

Other comments

I've been considering Blackwings0605 for adminship for a while. If you look at his move log you'll see he has huge use for noratelimit, movefile and surpressredirect. He's been cleaning up after other people move pages too. We do get a lot of incomplete page moves, particularly after an OCG Booster Pack is released in the TCG. If he had access to those three features, he'd be able to fully clean-up after moves, do it faster and do more. -- Deltaneos (talk) 16:26, January 30, 2011 (UTC)

In your answer to question 5, you mention that you think {{OCG-TCG card image}} still needs some development. Could you go into some detail on what you feel is missing or needs more polish? (this isn't actually related to the RFA, it's me asking as the template's coder ;) ) ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 02:05, January 31, 2011 (UTC)

Well, for example, this image name is corrected already according to Image Policy. However {{OCG-TCG card image}} still state that it isn't named correctly and the link to the Set Card Galleries page is broken just because {{Set/DREV/EN}} is missing. Can we have better result if {{Set}} is missing in the future? Blackwings0605 (talk) 07:56, January 31, 2011 (UTC)
That's actually only because {{Set/DREV/EN}} hasn't been created yet. I'm holding off on creating more subpages of {{Set}} until I've worked through more of {{OCG-TCG set table}} (and, probably, until I've started deploying it) and the corresponding properties (and it's starting to look like I'm going to just replace the whole subpage system on {{Set}} with a single "meta" template). In the meantime, I'd love to get your feedback on the rest of the card image template! ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 15:35, January 31, 2011 (UTC)
