Nice Work

Wow, just gotta say you're doing an awesome job with the Arabic names. -- Deltaneos 10:51, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Thank you very much. I'm always glad to help with what I can ^_^ -- Melik el-Al'ab 11:39, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Throwing in a "me too" here. Good job :) Danny Lilithborne 08:00, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank you as well! Just doing my job =D -- Melik el-Al'ab 08:01, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Aww c'mon guy, I'm turning red :$ -- Melik el-Al'ab 19:58, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

Being an IP address, I don't matter much, but I gotta say, WOW. That's seriously all I can put to words. WOW. --68.80.118.41 13:41, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Gee, thanks! I appreciate it. Who says you don't matter? Everybody matters! =) I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but why don't you sign up for the wiki? I mean, I've noticed you've been quite busy around here... -- Melik el-Al'ab 14:01, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
Well, thank you! ^.^ How would I take that the wrong way? I'm not entirely sure why I haven't signed up. Probably because I'm very bad at making usernames. --68.80.118.41 14:09, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I hear ya. It took me a while to settle on this one and I'm still not happy about it! Better sit down and think deeply (-_-) -- Melik el-Al'ab 14:17, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
In other words, you're playing Gather Your Mind. Does Konami have a card for every situation? --68.80.118.41 14:24, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
Wow, it's like I say something, and you're already away, improving another page that is directly related to what I said. ^.^ --68.80.118.41 14:31, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
Hehehe... Just doing what I can! To answer the previous post, "I guess they do! What you just did, my friend, is play Question!!! =O -- Melik el-Al'ab 14:34, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

I just went to Marik Ishtar's page, I see a section on Arabic etymology, check the history, who else could it have been? ^.^ --68.80.118.41 11:36, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

How was Egypt? --68.80.118.41 02:20, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
Oh it was very nice. The Egyptian Artifacts Museum and the Pyramids of Giza were very interesting places to visit. I wish they had Duel Monster artifacts though, that would've been cool xD -- Melik el-Al'ab 08:21, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
I'm... not entirely sure how to respond to that... --68.80.118.41 14:36, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I'm back. And I'm registered! No more 68.80. whatever! You're still working on these Arabic cards? Wow. I'm impressed. I wish I had this determination. --Shapesnatched 21:54, October 28, 2009 (UTC)

Arabic GX?

I notice you added the Arabic names for Yu-Gi-Oh! GX characters. I didn't know it was dubbed in Arabic, was it? -- Deltaneos (talk) 18:26, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

Aha, indeed it was! Yu-Gi-Oh! actually began airing in Arabic 5 years ago! (Can you believe it?) The entire Yu-Gi-Oh! second series has been dubbed, along with a chunk of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. I've seen the entire second series anime in Arabic, but I didn't follow the Arabic GX due to time constraints. (In case you're wondering, what's currently being aired is the 3rd -probably- rerun of the Waking the Dragons season, usually they'll rerun old seasons as fillers until new seasons are dubbed) I'm not sure to what season GX has been dubbed, but the last time I saw it the Arabic dub has already reached the Jaden vs. Kagemaru duel (right after the Jaden vs. Amnael duel), do you know what season that was? -- Melik el-Al'ab 19:02, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
That would be season one. Back when I used to see Yu-Gi-Oh! GX on tv, they played reruns of the last half season before showing they got new episodes. Although I would really have prefered reruns of Yu-Gi-Oh!. Now they don't show either. One more favour, could you add the channel it's shown in Arabic to the network other sections of the infoboxes in the \Yu-Gi-Oh! second series anime and Yu-Gi-Oh! GX pages? -- Deltaneos (talk) 19:21, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
It's already there! (And has been there since I first came to this Wiki! Wouldn't blame you if you didn't notice it, though.) The network's name is MBC 3, you probably didn't notice it because it has the flag of the United Arab Emirates (the country of broadcast, in Dubai to be precise) instead of the flag of Saudi Arabia. MBC 3 airs all sorts of kids shows 24-7. I grew up watching Pokémon, Digimon (1-4), and Yu-Gi-Oh! (all have proved very popular here). From Dubai, the channel airs all across the Middle East and some other parts in Asia, Africa, and Europe. Ever been to Dubai? It's a tourist-magnet! Did you know that Burj Al Arab in Dubai is the tallest hotel in the world? -- Melik el-Al'ab 19:34, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
Heh, whoops. I don't know if this makes it better or worse, but I had noticed it was there before and forgot since. No, I've never been to Dubai, but I have heard of the Burj Al Arab, being the tallest hotel in the world. -- Deltaneos (talk) 19:59, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
Hehe... Well, I recommend considering Dubai as a vacation stop some time. Oh by the way, they're gonna open a new hotel even taller than Burj Al Arab, it's called the Rose Tower also located in Dubai, and is 3 meters taller than its unfinished competitor, the Ryugyong Hotel of Pyongyang, North Korea. Woohoo! Go Dubai! -- Melik el-Al'ab 20:19, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

Dark Magician Knight

It appeared, when Yugi and Joey duelled the Big Five, at the very end of the duel. -- Deltaneos (talk) 19:35, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

Hmm... I think you're right, but either way I can't really remember its name. I vow to add it as soon as I find out its name for certain! -- Melik el-Al'ab 17:52, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

...Hi

Hey, I have seen you a lot here and I have never found a reason to talk to you (not trying to be rude, but it would be awkward to just say hi). But I found are reason: I know you watch the show but do you have a deck? Dmaster (Contribs Count) 04:57, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

  • Hey there, Dmaster! That's an interesting question, actually. Technically I don't own a proper deck now since my original deck got lost. My old deck had a Spellcaster theme with cards like Silent Magician LV8, Magical Marionette, and Magician's Circle, as well as some useful cards like Riryoku, Negate Attack, and Ekibyo Drakmord. I also kept a few Dragons in there, such as the Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Oh, and I almost forgot the Dark Blade and Kiryu combo! Yeah, it might have been a little weak strategically, but it sure was what I could've called my deck, since I had to scavenge every single card in it from here and there. Even so, I made my deck like that merely out of circumstance. If I had the choice and freedom of picking my cards, I would have made a Toon Deck!. I've loved Toons ever since I first saw them in the posession of Pegasus when I was 12 years old. I even got the Starter Deck: Pegasus just so I can at least own (but sadly never use) some Toon Monsters as well as Toon World. Relinquished was quite a helpful card as well. Anyway, as I said my old Spellcaster deck went missing, and eventually cards stopped selling here (authentic cards, at least), and so I was never really able to build another working deck.
Although, the virtual world of video games has gotten me back into the game! It started when I began building decks on YVD, and eventually when Yu-Gi-Oh! appeared on the DS. I now have a virtual Toon Deck (Almost a dream come true), as well as some other decks, including a Machine Deck and a -failed- Light Deck, among MANY others. I am interested in making an Egyptian-themed deck as well. I am also fascinated by the Vehicroids, Crystal Beasts, and the Aliens.
So as you can see, I don't currently have a working deck. I have a virtual Toon Deck which I love and wish to build in real-life. Besides Toons though, I have no real likes and dislikes among card types. Oh my, I seem to have been rambling on for too long, I really apologize. Sorry ^_^;
By the way, I wouldn't mind a friendly "hi!" for no reason. Heck, I'd probably do it. Love the "Seto Stands Up For it" GIF on your page, by the way! Hilarious xD Oh look, I've written half a book and I still can't end this x] anyway... lemme just stop. -- Melik el-Al'ab 10:31, 13 August 2008 (UTC) فلتكن التنانين إلى جانبك - May the Dragons be with you!
  • What I write in two sentences you reply with four paragraphs XD. I liked toons when they came out, most of all Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon (3000 direct attack unless your opponent has a toon...when doea that ever happen!). You mention the DS...what game do you have on it? Dmaster (Contribs Count) 15:37, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
    • I have Yu-Gi-Oh! Nightmare Troubadour. A bit behind the times, yes, but each time I want to get a newer game like Spirit Caller or World Championship 2008, something always gets in the way, to the point where I swore I'd get the next game no matter what! -- Melik el-Al'ab 16:55, 13 August 2008 (UTC) الصبر مفتاح الفرج - Patience is a virtue.
      • I have all three of those so if I can get my Wi-fi to work and if you have wi-fi, theoretically we could duel. :) Dmaster (Contribs Count) 16:59, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
        • Yes, I do have Wi-Fi, and an across-the-globe duel sound like fun! I'll be looking forward to that in the future, inshallah! -- Melik el-Al'ab 17:38, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
          • We should have that duel soon, not now but maybe later. How have you been by the way? Dmaster (Contribs Count) 08:41, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
          • Oh, I've been very fine, thank you. How about you? -- Melik el-Al'ab 18:01, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

You'd better ask someone else, or discuss it in the Future Fusion's Discussion Page. Sorry! -- Melik el-Al'ab 19:32, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

  • Thank you very much, J0V1! Yes, we celebrate today, and yeah you got it right! =D Happy Idul Fitr to you to! Kul 'am wa ant bikheir! Have fun! -- Melik el-Al'ab 10:57, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
Umm,what does the last sentence mean? -- J0V1 P4RD0MU4N S14G14N the Keyblade Master 10:59, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
Oh, sorry. "Kul 'am wa ant bikheir" (كل عام وأنت بخير) Literally it would mean "Every year and you're okay" meaning "I hope you stay healthy every year (as in, all the time)". It's one of many phrases commonly said in various occasions, especially in Idul Fitr and Idul Adha. =)
Oh, thanks! -- J0V1 P4RD0MU4N S14G14N the Keyblade Master 11:21, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Card names while speaking Arabic

Curiously, if you were speaking in Arabic with someone about Yu-Gi-Oh!, would you use the cards' Arabic or English names? -- Deltaneos (talk) 22:36, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

  • That's a good question actually. The fandom refers to cards by 3 ways:
  • Official Arabic names, when referring to the Arabic anime, or when the person is influenced by it. (This is especially common with the younger fans who got hooked to Yu-Gi-Oh! through the Arabic anime.)
  • Unofficial Arabic names, when referring to cards that don’t have official Arabic names while using official Arabic names, or when unsatisfied with the Arabic anime and its translations. (This is found in three groups: 1-Fans playing the card game in Arabic with cards they don’t know the names for, especially young fans trying to mimic the characters in the Arabic anime. 2-Disgruntled fans who are unsatisfied by the Arabic translations. 3-Arabic fans of the Japanese or English animes and mangas.)
  • English names (This could happen for many reasons, including the person’s irrelevance to the Arabic anime, either intentionally distancing themselves or if they got hooked through outside sources such as the Japanese or English animes or mangas. Also, older fans or young fans who are not influenced by the Arabic anime playing the card game might use the English names because they are written on the cards, if not deciding to play the entire game in English.)
It is worthy to note that on forums and other written media, people will write the Arabic name (official or not) followed by the English name in brackets. This is because Arabic names are not common among non-Arabic-anime-watchers, because names in the Arabic anime can change, and because few people can guess the card if the name was translated.
If you were referring to me, I rarely discuss Yu-Gi-Oh! in Arabic nowadays. I talk about Yu-Gi-Oh! in English unless I’m referring to the Arabic anime, and also duel in full English most of the time. In my younger days (I feel so old saying that, I’m only 16 now >_>) I used to duel in Arabic more though. Ah, nostalgia!
The reason for this mess is definitely because no official Arabic card game exists, and so there is no unified list of Arabic names for the cards (something which I dream of). Y’know I saw a guy carrying Arabic cards once. I could only get a glimpse though, but I recognized Dark Magician. -- Melik el-Al'ab 13:43, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

Just wanted to check

Hi Melik, I'm a new user here so I just wanted to check something with you. I've noticed that someone is editing all card details to do with Dragon Lady making it a ritual monster I was thinking of undoing the edit but thought it was best to check with an admin first. User:Trivi-AM

Thanks

Arabic project

I see you plan translating the entire Yu-Gi-Oh! card game into Arabic. Would you be interested in starting an Arabic Yu-Gi-Oh! Wikia? Starting the wiki is a lot easier than you think. -- Deltaneos (talk) 17:33, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Actually, that would be very interesting! However, most of the information/translation would have to be fan-made, like a lot of cards that didn't appear in the anime (and even half of those who did) would have to be given fan-made names (or approximations), and a lot of card terminology (words like "Set, Tuner Monsters, Flip Summon, etc.) would also have to be set unofficially. Would that be a problem? -- Melik el-Al'ab 18:50, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
Nothing is legally wrong with using fan made names. Facilitating the readers is the main purpose of a wiki, rather than being official. (That said I almost always base things on the latter.) I guess the only concerns could be; are users going to understand what is meant by such "fanslated" names and are they going to agree with them. Setting up policy pages, (like this) should hopefully avoid edit wars over what names to use.
If you decide to go with it, you can start a wikia wiki, here. -- Deltaneos (talk) 23:18, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Choice of flag for Arabic names

Is the Saudia Arabia flag the best choice for the Arabic names? A reader reported that we shouldn't be using it. If I understand right, they say we should use a red, white and black one, as it's the bases for most flags of countries that use the language (including Egypt, Syria and Iraq)... effectively the flag of Yemen. -- Deltaneos (talk) 18:07, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

It really depends on the requirement/standard for language flags. If the flag is supposed to represent the area of origin of the language, then the flag of Saudi Arabia would be the best choice in the same sense that the flag of the UK is more effective for the English language than the flag of the United States. However, since Arabic is an official language of 20 something countries now, using the flag of one might not be that comforting to the others, which could make the reader’s point somewhat valid in that Saudia is only 1 country of all of them. However, the Red White and Black flag is the bases of 4 (5 if you count Sudan) out of 22 Arab countries, so I wouldn’t say it’s the "most common" design either, and so it doesn’t solve the problem. There was a time when more Arab flags had that design, but that was 50 years ago. It would have made more sense to use the tri-colored flag back then, but not now. In the present time, as a universal solution, I think it is best to use the flag of the Arab League, as it represents the Arab World as a whole. The unifying feature of the modern Arab World is, after all, the Arabic language. -- Melik el-Al'ab 22:03, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Look! From, CardGameGirl!

الأمر كذلك ، كيفية المشروع؟ أنا أعرف الكثير من العربية! See, I did it, I wrote in Arabic!

how do you do that middle eastern writing over the internet.--Airbellum 10:11, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

  • Umm... well, I can switch between writing languages using my system's Language Bar. My computer's "Regional and Language Settings" allows me to Add/Remove languages in the Language Bar. If I want to write in Arabic, all I have to do is change the Writing Language to Arabic, (usually via the shortcut Shift+Alt). It's actually quite simple once you enable the feature in the Control Panel, considering you have an Arabic-labeled keyboard (or just know where all the letters are) and actually know Arabic. -- Melik el-Al'ab 10:33, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Nice to Meet You! =)

My name's Psychid, and I'm kind of both old and new here to the Wikia community (mostly old)! And it's nice to meet you (I kind of first found you after fiddling around the "recent activity" page)! I can also be found on the Total Drama Island Wikia and the Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Maker Wikia! I also have a FanFiction.Net account, which you can also check out, if you'd like. ;)

And one of my stories is entitled, Yu-Gi-Oh! Rise of the Busters, which is a crossover fic between Total Drama Island and Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. Unfortunately, I've decided to rewrite it (which probably doesn't surprise you, since this is pretty much the first time you've heard about it). =( Fortunately, though, I'm working on the remake as we speak, and hopefully, it will be out relatively soon. =) And I hope you enjoy it, once it comes out! =D

Also, are you from Arabia (I'm assuming this because you seem so professional at writing in Arabic)? 'Cause it would be so cool if you were, seeing that I'm interested in meeting people from other countries. =)

Oh, and if you respond to this message, can you leave it on my talk page, just so that the PC knows that I got it? Please, and thank you. ;)

Great talking to you (kind of)! =D --Psychid45, a.k.a. Psychid; real pen name, no gimmicks! 01:19, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Update: August 28, 2009

Thanks for your response; it was appreciated! =)

Now, here's the lowdown:

  1. First off, the reason why I said I was "both old and new here to the Wikia community" was that I've been here before, yet there might be some rules/explanations that are completely new to me.
  2. If you really want to know where I'm from, well then: I live somewhere... IN AMERICA!
  3. Glad that you're interested in reading my upcoming fic! =D But I kind of want to give you a little suggestion, and I'm not forcing you to do this: I suggest that you get a FanFiction.Net account, just so you can subscribe to my remake (once it comes out, of course); you'll automatically get an e-mail that lets you know when I've updated. Isn't technology amazing? =P

...And that's pretty much it...

Great talking to you (again)! =) --Psychid45, a.k.a. Psychid; real pen name, no gimmicks! 23:55, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

Update: August 29, 2009

Nah, I think you can wait until the remake comes out. ;) But I'll still let you know when it does.

Hope you like it! =D --Psychid45, a.k.a. Psychid; real pen name, no gimmicks! 14:39, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

الا اذا كانت كونامي بتصدر اوراق عربية , هنا يمكن تترجم أسم الوحش

What if his name in the film is "David, the Eternal Warrior"? Would you call him (دايفيد المحارب الخالد) or (دايفيد ذي إيتيرنال ووريور)? Why don't you just dub the entire film that way?
(واي دونت يو جست دب ذي إنتاير فلم ذات واي؟)
The term (حورس) is used because the Monster "Horus" is based on the Egyptian Deiti "Horus", who is called (حورس) in Arabic...
"Jinzo" is just called (جنزو) ... Why do you automatically assume that I am some kind of idiot? How about actually checking the Jinzo page?
There are several remaining points I'd like to make:

  • I'm not enforcing my "Rules Terminology" on anyone.
  • "Keeping everything as it is and writing it using Arabic letters" makes no sense at all. All the official languages of Yu-Gi-Oh! are translated, directly or indirectly, from Japanese. (English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Korean, etc.) ... The English game doesn't call Dark Ruler Ha Des "Meikai no Maō Ha Des" (which is the original Japanese name). Not even the English names are the original ones.
  • Even the Terminology is changed between languages. The Japanese term for a "Tribute" is a "Release". Did you know that? Instead of "Tributing 2 Monsters on the field" you "Release 2 Monsters on the field". If I was an English speaker and I learned Japanese, I'll have to learn the Japanese Terminology of Yu-Gi-Oh! Otherwise, I wouln't know what a "Release" is.
  • Calling a "Set" (استدعاء مقلوب) is completely innacurate. Because: 1- It is NOT a Summon. 2- It could get confused with "Flip Summon". Plus you can also Set Spells and Traps face-down. Are you going to call those (استدعاء مقلوب) too?

You're not talking to someone who just happened to come across an anime series he likes (Because, frankly, I don't like the anime that much). I am a true Yu-Gi-Oh! duelist, I know the cards, I know the rules, I know what I'm doing.

Set

http://www.gm-master.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=433

و أعتذر عن أي أسائه في كلامي السابق

No problem. And you're right, I have faced a lot of problems and tough challenges, but I am a firm believer that no matter what, there's alway a way. I've always dreamed of an Arabic Yu-Gi-Oh! game *_*

I'll try to look into "Set" a bit more to see if I can find an alternative.

I'm also working on an Arabic Rulebook for Yu-Gi-Oh! Which explains the entire game. Anyone who reads my Rulebook wouldn't even have to know the game in English, that's why they wouldn't have a problem knowing "Set" because (تهيئة) is already listed in the Rulebook. It makes sense when you play the Arabic game on its own, not when you compare it to the English game. (تهيئة وحش على الملعب، تهيئة فخ على الملعب). You see? Of course, it's not final...

Perhaps I can show you the rulebook when I'm done with it? We can discuss the terminology later.

My dream is an Arabic Yu-Gi-Oh! game that stands on its own, not one that depends on people knowing the English names and terms.

But thank you for your input. I'm glad to have found you and your community! :D -- Al-Malik ملك الألعاب 17:26, January 1, 2010 (UTC)

Hey you

  • Dude, I totally love you for finding the arabic names for certain cards, but I _URGE_ you to use "{{Navigation|mode=nonGame}}" as a template for the anime/manga cards, okay? Thanks so much! Huajun Chen 04:41, February 2, 2010 (UTC)
And thank YOU for making all those fixes, appreciate it :] I'll remember to add that from now on. Unfortunately, you may still find a lot of pages without the template, since I've been doing this for quite a long time now :x -- Al-Malik ملك الألعاب 06:02, February 2, 2010 (UTC)

و اتمنى -كما قلت- ان تتلقًف كونامي مشروعك هذا عسى و لعل يقومون بتوزيع الإصدارات الجديدة من "الباكات" في البلاد العربية على الاقل and for your question about the Yu_Gi_Oh! selling places in Hong Kong . sorry , I don't know . never been there actually (by the way , what is your main deck or what cards you like the most ?)

Good Deck

I think then you are like me, I like Machine-type monsters. I collected a Machine deck I like the "Genex" archetype, but because there is no "Duel Terminal" in arab countries I can't get them, but I made "Genex" deck in my PSP (Yu Gi Oh! 5D's Tag Force 4)

Different Dimension

Hi, I see you have translated some D.D. Cards' names. These are D.D. Crow, D.D. Warrior, D.D. Warrior Lady and Different Dimension Dragon. You translated:

-D.D. Crow as غراب البُعد المختلف

-D.D. Warrior Lady as المحاربة من البعد المختلف

-D.D. Warrior as المحارب من البعد المختلف

-Different Dimension Dragon as التنّين المختلف الأبعاد

I don't see why you had 'different' translations :). Unless there is a reason for that, I suggest following D.D. Crow's translation:

-D.D. Warrior Lady >> محاربة البعد المختلف

-D.D. Warrior >> محارب البعد المختلف

-Different Dimension Dragon >> تنين البعد المختلف

Hit me back. ;)--Hydronic (talkcontribs) 14:33, July 13, 2010 (UTC)

Other Stuff ... >_>

About Ancient Gears, don't you think that التروس الأثرية translates more to Archeological Gears than Ancient/Antique Gears?. I think that التروس القديمة or العتيقة would be a more proper translation (I prefer the latter one). Let me know what you think :).

About Spiders' Lair, I'm a bit hesitating about what would be more proper between these: وكر العناكب / عرين العناكب / مخبأ العناكب / جحر العناكب / كهف العناكب / غار العناكب.

And about Dark End Dragon (and Light End Dragon too). "Dark End Dragon" means the Dark Side or Part of a certain dragon. تنّين نهاية الظّلام translates to Dragon of the End of Darkness, which is not what the original name means. So I suggest طرف التنين الظلامي as Dark Side of the Dragon (not Side of the Dark Dragon :P). --Hydronic (talkcontribs) 18:19, July 13, 2010 (UTC)

On a second thought

Hi! Thank you first for answer :D. On a second thought about Ancient Gears, التروس الأثرية sounds kooler than the others xD. So we keep your translation :P! Just a thing about Ancient Gear (the monster), I don't see why you translated it as "التّروس الأثريّة" while "الترس الأثري" would be more proper =]  --Hydronic (talkcontribs) 13:59, July 15, 2010 (UTC)

Hello

Hey Melik el-Al'ab. I'm Montechristo95. We had some sort of conversation in the forum regarding the dub of the anime in our respective countries, remember? We never got to properly meet each other so... I can see that you are a card names translator who takes his "job" here very seriously. I admire your devotion and determination and I commend you for your well-organised translation project. In case you still wonder who am I, I'm the greek card names translator. I wish to get to know all the translator here at the wiki. I already contacted the user Hydronic, who is, as I see a friend of yours. I know we can't help each other by making comments for our work so far but it'd be cool if we were in touch and able to discuss various matters like the translation policy of this wiki. What do you think? --Monte (talkcontribs) 17:49, July 15, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your kind reply. Everything is fine. Yeah, I want to be in touch with all the translators I know here. Of course, I'll be seeing you again!--Monte (talkcontribs) 08:06, July 16, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Re: Other Stuff

Spiders' Lair is causing a lot of troubles :P. I think your point is right, we should base the translation on the Japanese Name. If that is Spider Territory or Spider Area, what about منطقة العناكب? (But tbh, I don't like it xD! Would you have any suggestions yourself?) =].

For the Dragons, تنّين طرف الظّلام and تنّين طرف النّور are good :), they even sound kooler than my suggestions xD.

And finally for Ancient Gear: Archetypes do cause this kind of problem :/. And the artwork does have a lot of gears in it + the French name also cites Gear in plural xD. So I guess your translation is rite! =)

Thank's for answering all this stuff xD, cya! --Hydronic (talkcontribs) 20:26, July 15, 2010 (UTC)

Lore Translation

Hello! :)

I was surfing the wikia when I came up on the message that was left on your Talk Page. I did a quick translation just to show to the other guy that full translation is possible xD! But I didn't know that you were translating lores already.

One thing I want to know, is why تهيئة ورقة and not وضعها مقلوبة as in the anime. I'm not saying the latter one is better, because تهيئة is shorter, which makes it better than the other one. At least for me :P. I just want to know what made you drop the anime translation for the word, and pick a new one! :)

About .ولا يمكن تهيئتها , Why not just .أو تهيئتها ?

I always thought that Spell Cards would translate to أوراق سحرية rather than أوراق عجيبة. I never thought of أوراق تعاويذ. But when I thought about it, your translation is indeed better than both the first ones I mentioned. ;)

And last, I'd like to see your translation of Dark Armed Dragon's lore! :) --Hydronic (talkcontribs) 19:32, August 4, 2010 (UTC)

The Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction Wiki

Yep, it's me again. =D

In case you don't know (and you probably don't), there's this one Wiki known as the Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction Wiki, obviously being a place where you can post your own YGO-related fan fiction. I joined that Wiki as of early January of 2010, but left because of the inactivity going on there. Fortunately, after seeing some activity as of June 2010, I have decided to make my return. And guess what? I'm an administrator, meaning I can delete articles that are begging to be deleted, and ban other users who are constantly breaking the rules and are begging to be banned!

Isn't that just amazing? =D

You don't have to do this, but would you be so kind as to join that very Wiki? I'm asking you kindly because although I'm administrator on that Wiki, it's still not one of the most popular Wikis out there, compared to this very one. You know what they say: the more, the merrier! ;)

Of course, once you join, that doesn't mean you always have to write fan fiction to post on this Wiki; you can review others' stories, if you want. For instance, you can review one of my most recent stories, by leaving it on its talk page. If you do, could I ask you to be constructively criticizing (as in tell me what you liked/disliked about it, what I can do to improve my writing, etc.)? Something such as "AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME!" is nice, but really isn't that helpful.

Please respond! =D

BTW... are you a boy, or a girl? =\ --Yes, it's PSYCHID! He talks! He does stuff! 20:15, August 5, 2010 (UTC)

Yo

Hello! How are you? Ramadan is soo close, I'm so excited xD!.

Anyways, I came upon a card called Penguin Torpedo. I did some research (Wikipedia ftw :P) and I found that Torpedo actually translates to الطوربيد, so I thought of البطريق الطوربيد. But it occurred to me that الطوربيد may not be a well-known word among Arab people, so I thought that البطريق القذيفة would be a better translation. I'm really hesitating, so I need your advice on what to choose =].

Thank's in advance! ;).--Hydronic (talkcontribs) 01:15, August 9, 2010 (UTC)

Yusei Fudo's Arabic name.

Some has added an Arabic name for Yusei Fudo; يوساي فودو. Do you know if a Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Arabic dub has started? If the name is unofficial do you think that it is still worth noting? -- Deltaneos (talk) 02:31, August 10, 2010 (UTC)

Me, again! Flooding your talk page! :P

Hi, I've been checking the Hero cards, and I found that someone thought it would be good to name Destiny Hero - Malicious "بطل المصير - الشيطان". I changed it to "بطل المصير : الماكر" for the moment, and I thought that you may have a better translation for it. I never really watched GX to be honest :P!--Hydronic (talkcontribs) 10:31, August 10, 2010 (UTC)

Oh, yeah...

Forgot to tell you something xD.

It is hard to include the "شرّ" (as most Archfiends have) in Scrap Archfiend. So I suggest naming it "عملاق قرنيّ الخردوات" (or something similar), as he bears strong resemblance to Summoned Skull as the Trivia page says. ;)--Hydronic (talkcontribs) 10:53, August 10, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Scrap Archfiend

Oh, I always thought of Archfiends as an Archetype with lots of monsters but no support, but now I see that they do. So, hmm, based on the translation of Toon Summoned Skull, Summoned Skull would be عملاق الشّر . Then, Scrap Archfiend is عملاق شرّ الخردوات . :D What do you think? --Hydronic (talkcontribs) 23:32, August 10, 2010 (UTC)

Level X Monsters

First of all, Happy Ramadan! I heard it starts today in the Saudi Arabia! :D

Now to the point, Dinoguy1000 wanted me to ask you about this (in the "Other names"): Is " المستوى 1" there good, or would you prefer " المستوى ١"? (Because I saw that you used Eastern Arabic Numerals in the Karakuki monster translations). Also, he wanted to know how would Arabic handle negative levels, which is obviously either "-1" or "-١".--Hydronic (talkcontribs) 14:02, August 11, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Re: Numerals

First, sorry for the late answer. I was busy killing a small spider that was crawling on the wall behind my monitor, that way I don't have to watch its movements every second >.>.

Now, your numeral rendering is fine ;). And I must say, your reasoning is good, you've got the best way to proceed with these numerals! :P

I did encounter people confusing Eastern Numerals (e.g. confusing ٢ with ٦). I, myself, used to confuse ٧ and ٨ =P.

As for the negative signs, we place them on the left, as in -1. ;)--Hydronic (talkcontribs) 23:27, August 12, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Numerals

I have a certain fear of Spiders! :S

Hmm, your question is interesting :/! If Moroccans learned them somewhere, it wouldn't be school xD! But from where I think I learnt the Eastern Numerals, is from being a regular reader of an UAE magazine called Majid in the past :P. But I still asked a friend of mine about this xD, he told me that he personally learnt them through watching Eastern TV Shows, more specifically, when they display رقم الحلقة lolz. Oh yeah! Speaking about that! I still remember Spacetoon animés that used to do the same (!!!!داي الشجـــــــاع Yeaaaaah!) :P! Other than these, I can't seem to think of any other way of learning eastern numerals here :/.

As for the math problems, we solve them exactly like in English/French, left-to-right ;).--Hydronic (talkcontribs) 23:55, August 12, 2010 (UTC)

Untitled :P

Correct! :D

(المستوى 1) for positive levels and (-المستوى 1) for negative levels. ;)--Hydronic (talkcontribs) 00:05, August 13, 2010 (UTC)

Untitled Again

I'll let you do it, because I have to go have dinner. Oh yeah, wish him a late happy birthday from my part :P.--Hydronic (talkcontribs) 00:09, August 13, 2010 (UTC)

Translate the Japanese name or just puting the Arabic dub name !!

I see that u transolate alot of YGO's cards from their japanese card's name to arabic name, but in the same time u just put the arabice name that was giving to some cards in the arabice dub of YGO instead of translate it from japanese !!! why u didnt transolate it like other cards? the dub name is not official after all !! I didnt want u to use ur translation of some cards instead of the dub name .. but, it would be better if u put both the transolation and the Arabic dub name in the Name page of that card. so it would be clear that the name is from the dub or not. anyway .. I see its sham to put an arabice name to some cards that doesnt even exit with that name in CCG world. its right that we said to the visiters that the Arabice name is unofficial but ... puting the name among official names is not right in my opinion (even some fans from other countries do that <.<"). If konami thinke about making arabic YGO cards with their official arabic name than it would be a different story. I see that puting the approximated name in the name page is better than that. B. Dragoon (talkcontribs) 21:34, August 13, 2010 (UTC)

thanks for ur replay =), ok I understand that if the name from the dub than its official, and if it was a translation from an official name than its unofficial. now I get it. B. Dragoon (talkcontribs) 19:48, August 14, 2010 (UTC)

good work!

I see ur translation for the monster card, Horus in ur user page, its good but there is something wrong!

1st: this small mark "–", I dont know why u put it #.#", why didnt say "حورس تنّين اللهب الأسود LV8" or "حورس, تنّين اللهب الأسود LV8"?

2nd: "الهجوم/الدفاع" ... isnt better that we say "نقاط الهجوم/نقاط الدفاع" ?. anyway, that is't important #.#.

3rd: "رقم الورقة" ... its better if u say "رقم البطاقة", there is a big different between both words.

4th: "نوع تأثير الوحش: استدعاء" ... hmmmm, I dont think that the summon condition is an effect anyway (becuse u cant negative it with any card that negative the effects). in the Horus page its said "Card Effect Type(s)" but in the card itself there is no text tale u about the card effect type. specially, the summon condition.

5th: "اعتراض" ... hmmm, its quick effect now ^^".

6th: "لا يمكن استدعاء هذه الورقة بطريقة عادية ولا يمكن تهيئتها" .. its better if u didnt repeat the word "لا يمكن" in this sentence.

7th: "استدعاء هذه الورقة بطريقة عادية" ... instead of saying "بطريقة عادية" why u didnt say "أستدعاء عادي". I konw its wrong to say "لا يمكن لهذه البطاقة أن تستدعى عادياً" but, I think its better to say "أستدعاء عادي" instead of "طريقة عادية" !!

thats all .. the rest of translation is good. B. Dragoon (talkcontribs) 10:14, August 14, 2010 (UTC)

Re: /Assault Mode, Warriors, Junk & Scrap

A mess indeed ;).

Now for Scraps, noticed all of the monsters seem randomly made out of different objects?, while Junk monsters are much more "advanced". Then why name them النفاية, while they seem more like advanced robots =P? So I thought of a different naming (inspired by the French name): المزامن الإنسالي / المحارب الإنسالي ... Where الإنسالي means Robotic :D, I didn't even know the word existed until now xD. Anyways, that's my suggestion, tell me what you think! ;)--Hydronic (talkcontribs) 22:12, August 17, 2010 (UTC)

Junk

From Sonic Chick's Trivia Page (cause I'm too lazy to type xP): "This card's Japanese name is "Roadrunner", which is a species of bird. The name roadrunner is commonly associated with the Looney Toons character, Road Runner, which is based on the bird. The idea of this card likely comes from the Looney Toons character. This is also referenced in the card's French name, "Bip Bip", which is the French name of the Looney Toons character."

Anyways, I originally found إنسالة on Wikipedia xP, that's what they call Robot obviously, from إنسان آلي as you said. But رَبوط is cooler though :P.

Re: Gaf

First of all, sorry for taking this long to answer. I have been asking friends either what the "G" sound would be in Arabic, or what sound would the 3-dotted Kaf produce :p. I have asked 16 people overall, the majority (13) either said that ݣ was G or vice versa (based on what I asked them). However, 3 didn't give me an answer (but agreed with me when I said ݣ = G) :/. Anyways, I personally know what ݣ is, and I believe everyone who plays Yu-Gi-Oh! here would identify it as G in a card name. Also, the Moroccan city Agadir's name has the 3-dotted Kaf in it on Google Maps: أݣادير...

I think it should be used for the Gs, just like "ﭪ" is used for "V". :|

But what about other countries, is the ݣ identifiable in Saudi Arabia?--Hydronic (talkcontribs) 16:42, September 18, 2010 (UTC)

the translation of "Card"

hi .. melik el-Al'ab =)

you know me right ? I was the one who discussing about your translation of the monster card "Horus". but I stop becuse I have trouble in writing in this network xD .. LOL. actuality, I'm not good with English =( .. I want to talk with Arabic but .. >_< this wikia doesnt support the way that the text go from the right to the left -.-, so I cant write with both Arabic and English words if I'm going to write with Arabic most the time =(

ok, anyway I ..

i'm interesting in translation the cards Lore so I need your help with this work.

the last time we are discussing about translate the word "card" to "ورقة", I think its batter to translate it to "بطاقة" becuse the word "ورقة" is used to be any paper that is used to write in it, but the word "بطاقة" is used to be any thin and flat object that is used to identify things, so its better to say "عندما تدمر هذه البطاقة" instead of "عندما تدمر هذه الورقة".

I was trying to translate "Yubel" Lore but, my translation was DELETED =P, so I need your suggestion in this point.

thank in advance =) --B. Dragoon (talkcontribs) 20:54, September 23, 2010 (UTC)

I prefer "ورقة" over "بطاقة", mainly because it sounds cooler ^__^. As for your translation, it was NOT deleted. It was "temporarily" removed until we agree on the translation of each term. :p--Hydronic (talkcontribs) 21:09, September 23, 2010 (UTC)
ok <.<", but that is not a good reason to select the word "ورقة", I know its not bad if we say "ورقة لعب" but saing only "ورقة" in my opinion will give a wrong translation. Saing "بطاقة لعب" or "بطاقة" is the good choose becuse "بطاقة" like I said is the way of identifying things. in this game, all tha cards have an information on it to identify its name, tybe, ATk .. etc. --B. Dragoon (talkcontribs) 22:10, September 23, 2010 (UTC)
I replied on your page. -- Melik el-Al'ab ملك الألعاب 23:08, September 23, 2010 (UTC)
LOL xD, ok ok I can use this word instead of "بطاقة". honestly, I used to call that "ورقة" before so .. no problem in using it now ^^". by the way, what is your translation of Yubel's Lore ? are you used to translate the lore of the cards or just the names ? can u put a table with all terms you are using to translate the card's lore ? --B. Dragoon (talkcontribs) 00:25, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

"-" or "," ?

Hey :p. For names like "Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier", what should I use in the translation after "Brionac": "-" or "،"?

"بريوناك، تنّين الحاجز الجليديّ" OR "بريوناك - تنّين الحاجز الجليديّ"?

Hit me back :p.--Hydronic (talkcontribs) 13:39, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

Discussion Page?

I think there should be a page on the Wiki to discuss everything and anything related to the Arabicization of Yu-Gi-Oh!. What do you think? ^__^--Hydronic (talkcontribs) 13:30, September 25, 2010 (UTC)

I prefer that too ^^ --B. Dragoon (talkcontribs) 14:28, September 25, 2010 (UTC)
Sounds reasonable. But where would that page be? -- Melik el-Al'ab ملك الألعاب 15:42, September 25, 2010 (UTC)

Deltaneos suggested this one: Yu-Gi-Oh!:Arabic_card_names_guidelines. What do you think? :D--Hydronic (talkcontribs) 19:25, September 27, 2010 (UTC)

Oh wow. I wrote that... A long time ago. It's gonna need some updating xD -- Melik el-Al'ab ملك الألعاب 13:50, September 28, 2010 (UTC)

Me again, just saw the BETA Terminology you put up on your user page. It's pretty good :p, but I have to ask. Why exactly did you translate Type as (جماعة)?--Hydronic (talkcontribs) 17:03, September 28, 2010 (UTC)

I see ^_^. I was thinking of (نوع), but after your explanation (and the examples of lore formulations) it doesn't really make sense anymore :p. So definitely (جماعة)! :).--Hydronic (talkcontribs) 18:26, September 28, 2010 (UTC)

Is some related stuff, are you calling Attributes: (... ،ظلام، نار) OR (... ،الظّلام، النّار) OR (... ،ظلاميّ، ناريّ) ? :). Oh yeah, and which one do you prefer between (الضّوء) and (النّور) for LIGHT ? :D (And do you have any translation for DIVINE?) Thank's in advance ;)--Hydronic (talkcontribs) 17:08, September 29, 2010 (UTC)

hi =), I see the BETA Terminology in ur user page, its good idea. we can share our respective terminology, but I think If you put it in separate page it would be better so we won't need to go to each one talk page and discusse about what we whant.

anyway, I have alots of YGO Terms with their meaning, I put them in my user page so u can compares about what I put and what ur using. maybe u found a good word to use =).

about what u put, I have some Commons:

  • Battle Damage = ضرر نتيجة معركة : what if we said "ضرر قتال" ? it would be better.
  • Flip Summon = استدعاء عكسي : what about "أستدعاء أنقلابي" ?
  • Fusion Summon = استدعاء بالدمج : its better to say "أستدعاء أنصهاري"
  • Life Points = نقاط أساسية : why ? "نقاط الحياة" give the right meaning.
  • Owner = صاحب الورقة : the owner of the card, or "المالك".
  • Ritual Summon = استدعاء بالطقوس : hmmm "أستدعاء طقسي" ?
  • Trap Monsters = وحوش الفخاخ : its not archetype !!

--B. Dragoon (talkcontribs) 21:55, September 29, 2010 (UTC)

Alright :D

I see now, for the Attributes =]. Take a look at my Sandbox :D. Take the liberty in adding/correcting all the types if you want! ^_^ --Hydronic (talkcontribs) 22:22, September 29, 2010 (UTC)

Happy ‘Īd el-’Aḍḥā!

Hey! You haven't been on for more than a month, how's it been? :P

Also, Happy Eid & Kul 'Am wa Anta Bikheir! :D --Hydronic (talkcontribs) 14:01, November 15, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Re: Happy ‘Īd el-’Aḍḥā!

Congratulations ^_^

Yeah, it's the new Wikia default skin which everybody hates. If you dislike it too, you can always switch skins (Preferences > Site Layouts > Choose MonoBook). MonoBook is what I'm using actually :). But if you don't want to change it, there are discussions going in the forum for width adjustments to fit with this new skin.

Along Nordics, Six Samurai need to be given proper translations too, as new support is coming out for them :).

Also, I noticed you started adding phonetics to card names pages, so I tried to do so too :P. I gave it a shot with Resonators, and I hope I got the phonetics correct. (I used this amazing site I found by chance :P).

Oh, and how do you plan on proceeding with lores translations? ^_^ --Hydronic (talkcontribs) 17:39, November 17, 2010 (UTC)

Hello!

It's been a while. :) --Hydronic (talkcontribs) 15:29, March 3, 2011 (UTC)

Re: Re: Hello

I'm fine! I haven't been much active here lately, it's because I started editing on Wikipedia-AR. Nevertheless, I've been thinking about some stuff too, I will get to them later. :)

First of all, I can't disagree with that revert; (ݣ) and (چـ) aren't well-known, and (ژ) neither. So, can we get rid of the last one too? :)

However, I don't agree with the use of an alif without a hamza for names starting with "E". Why don't we just use (إ)? What difference would it make anyways? And wouldn't the "E" sound sometimes be omitted in an alif without a hamza? For example, if we insert a (ف) on (انديميون), the "E" sound wouldn't be pronounced. :P

No comment about the shadda. Adding ligatures is an interesting idea, it would end up looking good on transliterations at least. :P

What I've been thinking about is adding a template to the Wiki in order to make it easy to write in Card Names pages. For example: {{Arabic name|الكهرومفتاح|al-Kahrūmiftāḥ|Electrokey}} would render something like:

  • The unofficial Arabic name given (الكهرومفتاح al-Kahrūmiftāḥ) translates to Electrokey.

What do you think? :) --Hydronic (talkcontribs) 23:04, March 4, 2011 (UTC)

Cool! Oh, and when do we start working on lores? :) --Hydronic (talkcontribs) 16:20, March 5, 2011 (UTC)

Yo!

Sup? I noticed you were no longer adding ligatures to Arabic names.. =] --Hydronic (talkcontribs) 15:36, May 17, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, I see what you mean. We would need guidelines for ligatures anyways. Another thing I want to ask you, is what font you want to see on Arabic cards. =] --Hydronic (talkcontribs) 22:46, May 17, 2011 (UTC)
Kind of. I used to be part of this French site & forum called FinalYugi. They have a little something called "FunCards" (something like Yugioh Card Maker, but much much better). It's basically making custom cards. There is a pack full of blank cards and attribute/stars pictures and what not. The site also has a list of the fonts used on real Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. FunCarders do everything through editing softwares (I used Photoshop), and they made "FunCards". Then they post them (there are moderators who accept/refuse the funcard of course), and it's given a rank (Bronze, Silver or Gold). They also lately have "FunBoosters" (I was first to make one :P). Here is a list of all my FunCards if you want to check them out, on the bottom right. My best ones are my last 4 posts. =] --Hydronic (talkcontribs) 15:16, May 21, 2011 (UTC)

Arabic Card!

Hello! Sorry I have taken long to response, but anyway. I made an Arabic card using Adobe Arabic as a font for texts :D! Click here to see the pic. The Set (LODT) is random, just to see how it renders. I don't like the ATK/DEF text though.. Anyway, tell me what you think about the card. :P

Also, here is the link to all the material you will need to learn how to make FunCards (Blank cards, attribute pics, stars, etc).

Ciao! =] Hydronic (talkcontribs) 18:29, June 22, 2011 (UTC)

No problem! =] Here is a HotFile link. ;) --Hydronic (talkcontribs) 15:11, June 23, 2011 (UTC)
I just learned about it from you... What should we translate it as? (النفي)? :P And also, what should we call Xyz monsters? :O --Hydronic (talkcontribs) 17:35, June 24, 2011 (UTC)

About Infernity

Hello! What's up? I was wondering if it was OK to translate "Infernity" as (الجحيم) in Arabic. =] --Hydronic (talkcontribs) 21:15, July 9, 2011 (UTC)

Hey!

Eid mubarak to you! :D --Hydronic (talkcontribs) 07:57, August 31, 2011 (UTC)

Oh, nice! Study hard! :P --Hydronic (talkcontribs) 11:53, September 17, 2011 (UTC)

Project

Hey bro, are you still working on translating Yu-Gi-Oh cards? because i feel you're not interested anymore ( hope i am wrong ). I'm working on a special project and i need the cards to be localized at first

To do so i put these point in a according to priority.

● Firstly, We need to agree on arabic translation the general terminologies of the game. like " Set, Tuners, Synchros, XYZ, Fiends, Spellcasters .. etc " and in card lores too - to make the job easier on translators and not to have contradictions, i mean guidelines - like " Once per turn " ( i think you made a post about them but they're not complete )
● Secondly, we need to decide whether we include full " tashkeel " or not as i saw some cards' translations by you including َ and ُ and some not, i mean not only " shadda " as you said in the arabic guidelines page. We may not include anything at all just the words.
● Thirdly, we need to decide whether we stick with the translations or the anime names or a mix of both.
● Forthly, we translate the cards according to the above guidelines in a database ( i already have one in English ).
● Fifthly, We need to find the appropriate fonts ( that needs a discussion among a large number of editors here until we decide what best suits the cards ) Once we begin making cards with a font, there is no return.
● The last step is to actually make the cards. We can contact the guys on Yu-Gi-Oh card maker site whether to add Arabic support or make us a tool or an application, but then, we should already have made ( Arabic attributes icons and picked the fonts so that they can make a generator for us easily )
● About the templates i don't know if they'll agree on making them for us but we can do it ourselves ( i'm not inculded of course cuz i suck @photoshop, i meant a photoshop skilled guy )
● The card pictures are not an issue at all we can all what we want - cropped and ready HI-RES artworks for the generator - from Tag Force 6 ( example : [1]) and if we can't find certain pic we can crop it.

So do you agree ? ThePriestSeto (talkcontribs) 10:53, May 17, 2012 (UTC)

Hello, PriestSeto. Why yes, I am still very interested in localizing Yu-Gi-Oh! to Arabic. I have been inactive over the past year due to college, but I'm trying to get back into it. Haha.
This project of yours sounds interesting. I'm willing to help out as much as I can, but may I ask for more details about the project? -- Melik el-Al'ab ملك الألعاب 05:30, May 18, 2012 (UTC)
Well, I have exams too ( last year in college xD ) ,so we can begin working in the 2nd week or the middle of July. My Project is about a Yu-Gi-Oh Video game but our project is about localizing the game. ThePriestSeto (talkcontribs) 02:45, May 22, 2012 (UTC)
Sounds good. Keep in touch, and good luck on your exams! -- Melik el-Al'ab ملك الألعاب 09:13, May 22, 2012 (UTC)

Re: Melik's back

Hey Melik! I'm glad you're back! :D As Dino pointed out, I've been inactive mainly because of school, but also because translating alone is just boring, lol, so I lost interest. I'll be done with school in late June, so I guess I can get back to the Wiki then, if you're willing to, too, of course! --Hydronic (talkcontribs) 23:53, May 26, 2012 (UTC)

Ha! I understand. I spent a good amount of time doing this alone long ago. :P Let's see what we can do. -- Melik el-Al'ab ملك الألعاب

I'm back

Hello, bro. Do you remember me? It's been 8 months since our last conversation. For some reason I forgot about the project, you didn't contact me though. I see that you've been working on localizing Yu-Gi-Oh! since 2008, so can you tell me what you have achieved? Anyways, I'm back and ready to work. --ThePriestSeto (talkcontribs) 02:10, January 15, 2013 (UTC)

Why hello! It's been a while. Yes, I've been trying to localize card names for a while now. (Has it really been that long?) Hah. Well, to be honest, I've been busy over the past 2 years with college; so, my contributions here have gone down significantly. Up until then, most Arabic translations you see on this site were either collected (from the Arabic dub) or constructed by me. I've completely missed out on the Yubel saga of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, and they're airing 5D's in Arabic now too, which I'm also missing out on. Other than that, I'm still interested. -- Melik el-Al'ab ملك الألعاب 02:40, January 15, 2013 (UTC)
I think the anime is not relevant now because I saw some episodes of the arabic dub version of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's and the translation was nonsense. In some episodes they call "spell" cards "العجيبة", "التعويذة" and "الدورات".They called a Tuner monster "ضابط" and then "تونر". They can't even stick to a name. Another funny example is RDA. They called it "التنين الأحمر أرشفيند" and sometimes they pronounced it as "أرشيفايند". I noticed that in 5D's they just translate the basic words and whenever they face a difficult word to translate, they just leave it in English. However, If you need to check a name of a card in the anime, we can use the wiki to know what episode it was played in and ( I have most of episodes which MBC 3 showed up till now. So, no need to worry at all. We just need to make general guidelines for translation so that other people could easily translate and help us. After all we can't do all this by ourselves. That's what I could remember for now ( The Terminologies is most important section; we don't want to have in consistent card lores, and it still needs updating ). I think we should form a team and stay in contact via any other method of communication like MSN/Xfire. Tell me what you think.
P.S. Sorry for ruining your page but I couldn't figure out how to use the collapse feature.

--ThePriestSeto (talkcontribs) 23:41, January 17, 2013 (UTC)

Wow, OK. Um... How about we move all of this to a separate page? Like User:ThePriestSeto/Project or something. This is a bit of a clutter. -- Melik el-Al'ab ملك الألعاب 20:32, January 21, 2013 (UTC)
Moved the project to a separate page as requested.--ThePriestSeto (talkcontribs) 21:17, January 21, 2013 (UTC)
