Hey! I deleted all the pictures from my user page but i really feel like a Troll or a criminal when i see the message FredCat left on Falzar's user talk page... Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for you nice message and i will not do it again. Sorry. Wilimut TalkMail Paris, 19:35, April 30, 2011 (UTC)

Are you talking about User talk:Falzar FZ#Image Copyright? Don't worry about it; FredCat wasn't trying to be disparaging of you there, I think (he's not always able to make his meaning clear, since English isn't his first language, so sometimes it can be hard to tell if he's just making a statement or if there's something more behind his comment ;) ). As for the images, I'm glad you're so willing to remove them yourself, and hope this won't discourage you from continuing to edit. If you need help with anything, feel free to ask me! =D ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 22:32, April 30, 2011 (UTC)
I actyally "created" the french yugioh wikia a few years ago (which is basically, like all others, the same kind of structure as this one but for french speaking person who really can't read english), so yeah, I know how to create all the gallery stuff but it's so boring lol... I just have a small amount of scans on this computer but I want to upload as many as i can before starting to touch the galleries itselves. --Wilimut TalkMail Paris, 22:42, April 30, 2011 (UTC)

Good day! I made a little mistake, this file: File:ScrapBeastDREV-FR-R-1E.jpg is actually unlimited edition (not first edition). Could you rename it? Thank you. Wilimut TalkMail Paris, 13:03, May 1, 2011 (UTC)
Fixed. Thought you should also know that Template:Rename media would probably be better to use. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 13:06, May 1, 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, Falzar. =D Also, Wilimut, there's {{OCG-TCG card image}}, which will automatically detect if the image is named correctly based on the information you provide it, and if not, mark the image for renaming (though since it relies on {{Set}}, which is woefully incomplete, it's gonna mark a *lot* as needing renamed until {{Set}} is fleshed out more (or I rejigger it some)). ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 13:34, May 1, 2011 (UTC)
Just a thought, if you own the card, wouldn't that allow more er... 'rights' over the copyright. AKA you can legally use it for more stuff than if you didn't own the card. (which is why I didn't say anything about it before Fredcat asked me; was trying to look it up, didn't find anything) -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 13:42, May 1, 2011 (UTC)
I dont get your point falzar... Yes i do own all the cards that i upload but why would i have more rights about it since I can't technically prove that i own them? --Wilimut TalkMail Paris, 13:54, May 1, 2011 (UTC)
Falzar: No, ownership isn't the same thing as copyright. To be sure, owning a physical copy of a card entitles you to do just about whatever you'd like with it (short of making other physical copies) - keep it, sell it, give it away, destroy it, etc. - but it doesn't grant you any special privileges on what you can do with the image/design of the card; you still have to abide by fair use. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 17:06, May 1, 2011 (UTC)

By the way, I think this picture isn't really well nammed or even appropriate...: File:PotofDualityDREV-EN-ScR-UE.jpg Wilimut TalkMail Paris, 19:58, May 1, 2011 (UTC)

Also, what template should i use for files that people upload but are already on the wikia such as this one: File:Blue-Eyes_Shining_Dragon.jpg ? Wilimut TalkMail Paris, 21:42, May 1, 2011 (UTC)
For duplicate/bad files, Template:Delete. For Pot of Duality, the previous version was UE (kinda), I'll make the DREV UE gallery some time. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 22:47, May 1, 2011 (UTC)

Bots and File names

After making a Category, would it be possible for a bot to go through the names of every file we have and add a category to them if they contain certain characters in the name? e.g. "Category:Tag Force Card Images"; for files containing "VG-TF" in the name.
So in the end, we'll end up with something similar to Category:Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship Sprites but for those Tag Force images. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 05:58, May 5, 2011 (UTC)

It should be (though it's not immediately obvious how to in AWB, for whatever reason). Keep in mind that part of the reason I'm developing {{OCG-TCG card image}}, though, is to eventually allow images to be auto-categorized (I plan on making more templates modeled after it; at the very least there'll be one for VG images (and actually, it may be easier for that to cover VG, anime, and manga images than to attempt to add animanga support to the current OCG/TCG template... hmm) and one for non-OCG/TCG card games) - I'm not against hardcoding the categories for now, but they'll need to be removed later. I'd also like to look into the feasibility of adding properties to images; I think we could do all sorts of crazy fun stuff with them if we can use SMW on them. =D ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 07:21, May 5, 2011 (UTC)
I see. I wasn't expecting VG images to be in that template, but since they are, it'll be fine to leave them as they are for now. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 07:46, May 5, 2011 (UTC)
It sounds like you misread me; VG images aren't covered in {{OCG-TCG card image}}. I was saying I was planning another template, based on that one, for VG images. On the other hand, if you *did* correctly understand me, then I clearly misunderstood you, and you should feel free to smack me while clarifying yourself. =D ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 07:49, May 5, 2011 (UTC)

Not sure about something.

Hi, just to be sure. this file should be named File:TheMaskedBeastLON-EN-UR-UE.jpg and this one should be named File:TheMaskedBeastLON-NA-UR-1E.jpg? Am I right or totally wrong? If I'm right, then the work we have to do is actually way bigger that what i thought lool... Compare to the wrong ones, it seems like there's just a few of well names files... Wilimut TalkMail Paris, 15:20, May 5, 2011 (UTC)

Yep, both of those renames are correct. I don't think the image policy has really been observed very closely until just recently, and even back when it was first instated, there were already a lot of files uploaded that sort of followed it, but never got renamed.
The method I was planning on using for cleaning up file naming would probably have been to just pick a set gallery and work through the whole thing, before moving on to the next, and I would have been creating missing galleries as I went. --Dinoguy1000 (talk contribs) as 66.116.9.175 (talk) 20:27, May 5, 2011 (UTC)
What about Set that has different names in different languages. By that, i mean old sets such as LON (LDC in french). For those one I've uploaded a file under that kind of name : File:ExampleLON-FR-UR-UE.jpg. But for LOB (LDD in french), I've uploaded like this: File:ExampleLDD-FR-UR-UE.jpg. It is not written in the policy so I really don't know here what you prefer. I continue to upload under the name LDD until I got your answer. I would consider the second example, so it's more clear to anyone who look at the card. They won't be surprise to see different letters than it's announced in the name! Wilimut TalkMail Paris, 07:12, May 6, 2011 (UTC)
That's a good question. I could see a convincing argument for either way, since we note the region/language in the image name as well as the set... You may want to ask Delt for his opinion. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 08:26, May 6, 2011 (UTC)
It might be safest to use the languages' local prefix. The contents of sets can sometimes vary between languages, so for some sets (e.g. SD16 and SDSC and the two Structure Deck: Mariks) it could be argued over whether they're different sets or different language versions of the same set.
But as you said there's probably many more arguments for both cases. Like SDM can refer to the Japanese Structure Deck: Marik or the Italian Spell Ruler. And how does this decision affect your {{OCG-TCG card image}} templates? -- Deltaneos (talk) 13:53, May 8, 2011 (UTC)
To be honest, I'm also thinking that using the languages' local prefix is the best system. If a new user wants to upload a card subject to this problem, he would name it with the prefix written on the card itself rather than having to search for the correct prefix if he doesn't know... Wilimut TalkMail Paris, 14:01, May 8, 2011 (UTC)
"And how does this decision affect your {{OCG-TCG card image}} templates?" - It shouldn't. The template that would actually be affected would be {{Set}}, and precisely this situation fed into my decision to design it the way I did (which makes it even funnier that I didn't think of this for card images until now). ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 06:07, May 9, 2011 (UTC)

Chrysalis monsters on Template:Six Attributes

About "Template: Six Attributes is it OK to call "Chrysalis" "Neo-Spacian babies" over "... Infants". I called them babies because and are the 1st stage in living things--Wasn't (talkcontribs) 02:10, May 8, 2011 (UTC)

Why not simply call them "Chrysalis", per their archetype name? ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 03:58, May 8, 2011 (UTC)
That was just to show people how they are related to Neo-Spacian. That's Y I put them under "Neo-Spacian" same with E-hero... Neos Fusion Monsters under E-Hero Fusion Monsters. but if you want them to "simply call them "Chrysalis", That's fine too. Reminder and off topic: "Chrysalis"=babies, Neo-Spacian=childrens, and their Fusion=adults--Wasn't (talkcontribs) 04:18, May 8, 2011 (UTC)
"Chrysalis", "Neo-Spacians", and "Contact Fusions" together that's good. I didn't think about that. but for NS and CF should we add a little note one what we mean by those so they know it;s not the whole thing? What sucks now for me is that, I have to fix "Six Attributes".--Wasn't (talkcontribs) 04:33, May 8, 2011 (UTC)
I don't think any note is really necessary, at least in the template itself; it shouldn't be that hard for a person to figure out from context that the listed NS and CF monsters are those related to the Chrysalis monsters. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 17:16, May 10, 2011 (UTC)

If those are indeed the only two, then we don't do anything with them. They don't fit in to the current Chrysalis/NS/CF Six Attributes group, and since there's only two of them, they don't form their own SA group either. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 06:09, May 11, 2011 (UTC)

Possible history merge needed.

"Six Style - Dual Wield" and "The Six’s School of Dual Wielding". The former is the correct TCG name, so I think the latter should be merged in and then redirected to it, maybe. It appears that a "trans" parameter is already in place, which uses a completely different name. So I don't know which is the proper translation. Yay. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 17:09, May 13, 2011 (UTC)

It was a copy-and-paste page move (the only change between "The Six's School" and "Six Style" was the addition of the en_sets parameter), I've merged them together. I think it's possible the Japanese name could translate to either "The Six’s School of Dual Wielding" or "Dual Wielding Style of The Six", but Google Translate isn't helping. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 18:11, May 13, 2011 (UTC)

Yep. Back when I was still working on it actively, I test-deployed it to a few pages (Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Dark Magician, and a handful of others) and other editors picked it up from there and started adding it to random pages, against my repeated protestations. I know for a fact it isn't; there's at least one breaking change that will happen before it's finished, and I don't intend to update/fix 50 million pages when I make said change (this is the biggest reason I don't want people adding it to articles yet). ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 20:05, May 17, 2011 (UTC)

No, the styles are pretty well set. The breaking change is the addition of a required parameter for the language/region, which will probably follow the set parameter (and thus change the order of parameters). I also intend to have the template use {{Set}}, which may or may not break pages depending on how developed {{Set}} is at the time, and whether people continue to insist on applying {{Card table set}} to video game sets (I plan to have a separate template for those, maybe... I haven't put as much thought into this just yet). ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 20:12, May 17, 2011 (UTC)

As far as I know, it's unofficial, but it's also quite reliable in my experience; it was being used for info on this wiki long before I was aware of it, too (the same goes for manjyomethunder.twoday.net and shriektcg.twoday.net). ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 21:51, May 18, 2011 (UTC)

As I said, even though they are unofficial, their information is usually quite accurate. However, your dispute seems to be over the translations they offer; it should be noted that we are not nearly as beholden to their translations as the other info they provide - it's not unusual for us to forgo a translation of theirs in favor of a translation we do ourselves. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 21:57, May 18, 2011 (UTC)

Do you know how to put two translations in same article? Like with "alternate ATK", but I like to know for translation part only. --FredCat 22:38, May 18, 2011 (UTC)

There isn't really any way to do so; there's only one parameter in {{CardTable2}} for the translated Japanese name. For most cards, any possible second translation would simply be a variant of some sort for the first translation (as is the case with "Pot of Duality"'s possible translations). ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 22:55, May 18, 2011 (UTC)
Now there is indeed a way, it's |altname =. Cheese came to the rescue and shoved the name back in there in Revise Dragon. --FredCat 00:56, May 19, 2011 (UTC)
Well, it's not 100% right, since it has the flag of England, meaning "English alternate". Technically, this is the Japanese/translation alternate, but it does still have more or less the same effect, I think. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 01:03, May 19, 2011 (UTC)
I know, but Burnpsy still refuse it and removed the name from one I was posting in. --FredCat 01:05, May 19, 2011 (UTC)
Technically, the altname parameters (there are 3 of them, IIRC) are for alternate English names. In practice, though, I'm not sure how or where they are used (so I suppose they'd be a good future candidate for a tracking category), so using one for an alternate trans(liter)ation would be as good a use as any. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 02:44, May 19, 2011 (UTC)

Hello Jonjonex, and welcome to the wiki. =) Unfortunately, we take a pretty firm stance about the addition or changing of card rulings; every ruling needs to be sourced to Konami so that anyone can confirm it.

But indeed, I was little brusque from what Dino see. Repeat, I asked Jonjon to get the link to where he could find the list of ruling, and only link he gave was YouTube site, which confirmed to not be prove official. As of most game and computer hacking, YouTube is part of that kind of trouble that I don't honestly trust. And again, I only asked him to find the official site (which building by Konami itself) and get the exact quote of that ruling, which he would like to post in the ruling article. I was just wondering why the 1st Errata's cell is twice bigger than the original. Is it a bug with the tablor? Wilimut TalkMail Paris, 20:33, May 23, 2011 (UTC)

That's because of lore difference, since Original Lore had FIRE and WATER separate from main sentence while the Errata version had them joined together. It made the Errata part larger than Original. Well, making the cells equal in width is the more aesthetic presentation... ;) ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 00:26, May 24, 2011 (UTC)

Blast Magician

What's wrong with this page lol? It's all messed up but I can't find the mistake I made! Wilimut TalkMail Paris, 06:42, May 24, 2011 (UTC)

It was your conversion of the page to use {{Ruby}} (or rather, SMW choking on the markup it generated - if the property value in question exceeds a certain length, SMW automatically abridges it by excising from the middle, and gives no regard to any HTML or XML tags that may be in the way) - this was a known bug with an older version of the template that generated more markup, but I didn't know there were any Japanese names with enough Ruby text to cause the problem with the template's current version. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 07:03, May 24, 2011 (UTC)
I see, thanks for your help! Wilimut TalkMail Paris, 07:04, May 24, 2011 (UTC)
It is possible to switch off the factbox by default or on select pages, which would avoid this problem. All its information can still be found in the "Browse properties" link in the sidebar. The Wikia skin doesn't have the factbox (or browse link) either way. -- Deltaneos (talk) 14:16, May 24, 2011 (UTC)

Infobox colours

We slightly touched on this before, but for a different reason. Would you be able to add more infobox colours? We currently only have two: grey (type-character) and blue (type-animanga) and use a number of different infoboxes. -- Deltaneos (talk) 14:52, May 30, 2011 (UTC)

I don't see any particular reason not to, but I'm not too good at picking good color schemes - do you have anything in mind?
More generally, I've never been particularly fond of the current system we have for infoboxes; the modularity is largely just added complexity considering our needs, and the lack of any sort of metatemplate means an inordinate amount of work, not just when creating new infoboxes, but even just when updating current ones. I'd like to replace our {{Infobox}} with Wikipedia's and start updating our templates to use it, and I could customize it some (both in how it works and how it's styled) if that's wanted. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 16:02, May 30, 2011 (UTC)
The primary and secondary colours at least. One dark and one light shade would be needed for each type-. If you did at least one or two to start with, it should be easy for anyone else to copy-paste and change colours.
Are you thinking of changing the appearance of the current infoboxes or just making the setup simpler? {{iBox}} is a series of metatemplates that can be used to make infoboxes like the current ones, but it's still different than the Wikipedia one. You can see examples of it being used on w:c:souleater:Template:Infobox/SoulEater/Episode and w:c:naruto:Template:Infobox/Jutsu. -- Deltaneos (talk) 17:40, May 30, 2011 (UTC)
I mean, any particular color systems for particular types of infoboxes. Beyong basic thematic elements, color schemes tend to be rather arbitrary, and if there's one thing I'm not good at, it's making up my mind in the absence of direction (as you can see from my ongoing template projects =D ). ;)
My proposal would change their appearance, yes, but we could always modify the styles (and, if necessary, {{Infobox}} itself) to get close to the current styles back, if that's what people would prefer. I've looked over the iBox templates a little bit, not enough to really understand how they look, but my impression thus far has been that they are somewhat more complicated than they need to be (but that may just be me). ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 17:49, May 30, 2011 (UTC)
Meh, the more I think about it, the better one colour for all infoboxes sounds. (Two is fine either.)
Would you like to create a sandbox example? -- Deltaneos (talk) 22:34, May 30, 2011 (UTC)
Any such example would just be a copy of Wikipedia's infobox metatemplate. I could set up a sandbox example anyways if you're looking to experiment with the styles, though. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 23:33, May 30, 2011 (UTC)
