The Legendary Ranger

yeah, that's me alright. the reason why my Yu-Gi-Oh! user name is AnnaV is because i am not the original owner of the account. It used to belong to one of my best friends whose name was Anna. However, she is no longer interested in Yu-Gi-Oh! and let me take over her account this past August rather than create a new one, even though she is a female and I am male. sorry if this frightens you, but yeah, I am The Legendary Ranger. On Wikipedia though, I don't usually edit Yu-Gi-Oh! pages nor did I join the Yu-Gi-Oh! project because I too busy with WikiProject:New York City Public Transportation. One WikiProject is good enough for me lol. AnnaV 22:49, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Well, I would never share her password with anyone and before I started editing, I carefully looked at her contributions to determine what she was doing before she left this wikia and I am just basically continuing what she started and not editing recklessly or going in a different direction. Errata

  • I'm not sure... the only time I change "errata" is when what the page lists as the Lore differs from what the Lore on the card image shows. Someone might have changed the Lore to fit with the new terms, though. That would be my bad. Danny Lilithborne 15:51, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

Galleries

Two little questions...

What is the policy regarding relative placement of set name (e.g., Rise of Destiny) and set designation (e.g., RDS-EN###) beneath each picture? I had been of the opinion that

Rise of Destiny
RDS-EN###

had been settled on, but I notice that Look234 changed one of the galleries I recently updated to

RDS-EN###
Rise of Destiny

format instead. Could you clear this up for me?

What is the policy regarding the old "subdivisions" in the English TCG with regards to gallery headings? I had been of the opinion that galleries headings were divided on the basis of language (i.e., English, French, Japanese, &c.), and not UDE's previous infantile discriminations against various regions. As such, shouldn't PSV, PSV-E, and PSV-EN cards (e.g.) all be under the heading (TCG - English)? I'm just wondering, as a gallery I recently updated has been changed (again, by Look234), dividing English cards into (TCG - English), (TCG - North American-English), and (TCG - European-English).

HELP!

Volcanic Rocket + Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas Delt!, and thanks for all your help. I haven't see Volcanic Rocket in Spanish but most of card names are translated as they are, so its name is: Cohete Volcánico. So far I have only provided translations of cards I own or I have seen, but all of them are exactly the same, with no changes, so I can provide translations for near to all cards. --Tyrant Slayer 03:11, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

  • Can you please take a look at this card: Damage = Reptile. For some reason, the sections (Galleries, Tips, etc) don't appear on it. I don't see anything wrong in the format (it was made by TTF) and after verifying it I see no problem compared to the other cards but maybe you can discover what's wrong. Thank you. --Tyrant Slayer 04:19, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
    • Oh, so the problem was there. Thanks Delt. --Tyrant Slayer 17:22, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

  • Hey, crazy idea but in trying to make this a true multi-country website do you think we could some how make, just the individual card pages, buttons to change the language. Like on wikipedia. That way people from other countries could visit and would be able to read everything about the card, effect, type, and othe info. I'm not sure how you could set that up but I think it would allow for others to use the website more. Vincento 17:04, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
    • Alright thanks for checking and a Happy New Year! Whee 2008! Vincento 16:25, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

God Cards + Sp Names

Man, I was gonna provide the Gods' Spanish names, but you get them faster! Good job. Sorry about leaving IRC in that way, but I had no option. However, I didn't close the conversation to see your opinion about the Spanish anime names. If TTF says the Anime section I'll put them there. By the way, is there any Spanish version of the Egyptian Gods?, or the names are just translations and not official names? --Tyrant Slayer 03:01, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

  • I mean that I no longer responded to your posts, because I didn't desconnect but I wasn't there, on a side note, Slifer's Spanish name is wrong, the translation and Spanish anime name is "Slifer el Dragón del Cielo", the other Sp Anime names for the Gods are on their A&M pages. --Tyrant Slayer 17:34, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
    • I didn't respond, sorry, but I was helping someone. Unfortunately, my scanner doesn't work, I can't upload my Spanish cards for now. --Tyrant Slayer 01:57, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Re:Different Dimension Dragon

Technically, the translation is correct word to word, but it feels... iffy to see the same word repeated twice in the same card name. But I guess it can't be avoided, since ? (ryu) is dragon in Japanese, while ???? (dragon) is a commomly used gairaigo which also points at the same imaginary species.

However, my speculation is that "Different Dimension Dragon" (????) is the species name while "Twilight Zone Dragon" (?????????????) is the given name. It might look better if the two parts are split with a dash; "Different Dimension Dragon - Twilight Zone Dragon", but this is my personal opinion regarding this matter. --Pizzaman 16:05, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Card Differences

Do you think it is really necessary to use the whole CardTable Template in the Anime and Manga Appearances pages? Specially, when only the card's effect differs from the OCG/TCG gameplay, yet everything else is the same?

Perhaps a simpler format could be used for these cases. Something like this (using "Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon" as an example):

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned by Tributing 1 "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon" equipped with "Magic Reflector Armor - Metal Plus". This card gains 400 ATK for each Dragon-Type monster in your Graveyard. You can negate the effect of Spell Cards that target this card. You can discard 1 Dragon-Type monster from your hand to the Graveyard to negate the Activation and Effect of any Spell Card your opponent controls.

Now, if we are speaking of Spell/Trap cards whose effect and icon was changed, we might use this (lets use "Valhalla, the Castle of the Gods" this time):

?Field Spell Card?
Remove from play 1 "Holy Sanctuary" in your Graveyard to activate this card. Once per turn, the controller of this card can Special Summon 1 Fairy-Type monster from their hand or Graveyard, ignoring the Summoning Conditions.

Finally, if a Monster had its ATK, DEF, Level, etc. changed along with its effect; it would look like this ("Blast Sphere"'s original stats):

?Level 6/ATK 2900/DEF ????
When this card is Summoned successfully, it becomes an Equip Card and is equipped to a monster that your opponent controls. Destroy this card during the Standby Phase of your opponent's next turn, and activate 1 of the following effects:
?If the equipped monster's ATK was equal or lower than this card's ATK, destroy the equipped monster and inflict damage to your opponent equal to the difference.
?If the equipped monster's ATK was higher than this card's ATK, inflict damage to your Life Points equal to the difference.

What do you think?

Tables, languages, etc.

  • I'm glad that you liked my suggestions for a new layout. Check this page and see how it looks.
  • The language function looks pretty good to me, and using it to display the original anime/manga stats of a card sounds great. I'd really like to see that.
  • I'm affraid the English manga is right about that. That card's title is never visible and Bakura never addresed it by name.
  • By the way, I've just noticed that you uploaded the images of "Deja Vu", "Slime King" and some Capsule Monsters. Can you get the images of "Whirlphool" and "Insecticide"? The first was on Joey's hand, when Bandit Keith used the "The Pillager" to take one of his cards. The later was used by Weevil in the Battle City tournament (it had the illustration of "Eradicating Aerosol" in the japanese and the english anime, bu it isn't really the same card).

Re: Destiny Board Ruling

The Japanese ruling was on the Japanese wiki, with the source being the Yugioh OCG Hotline (date of answer: Feb 22nd 2007).

Didn't know you couldn't use OCG cards in the TCG, since in the case of OCG, TCG cards are usable in tournaments as long as they aren't TCG-exclusive. --Pizzaman 12:55, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the first link. Despite having UED's English site in My Favorites, I rarely look at it. As for the second link, it just states that if you are using TCG cards in an OCG tournament, you have to use card sleeves to cover the card backs. The set list on the same page doesn't have anything to do with what TCG cards are legal to play, and is simply just a list of Japanese-to-English card name translations. --Pizzaman 13:09, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Female Monsters

While I'm sure Nuvia is too... strange to classify as a female monster, I'm pretty sure all monsters in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Tag Force: Maiden's Heartbeat (excluding some Harpie support cards, though Pet Dragon could be a girl) classify as being female. --Pizzaman 10:55, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Default width for Card Template

  • I've been viewing the page on my mom's 800x600 image and some of the bigger card images tend to skew the way the page looks. Do you think you could make the template have a default width of 300? Should we include this information

Sorry I've been gone...

I've just been really busy, college, family, girlfriend. T_T But I'll try to contribute as much as I can while doing over 15 hours this semester. And the main reason for this is I'm having trouble with the English and the North American - English sets. Valkyrie images

Just wanted to know what version (eg.Japanese,English) of yugioh and what episode you got the Valkyrie monster picture from. 190.58.59.63 15:22, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Hey fan of Valkyries too? ...I'm not sure which image you're refering to, but you can usually tell if it's from the Japanese version, because it has the Japanese name and effect printed on the card. The dubbed versions (ie. english, German, Spanish etc.) have the text removed (problably so it only has to be editted once instead of once for every language). As for which episode... well we have each Valkyrie's first appearance mentioned on the article. Since I'm not sure which image you're refering to the Valkyries appeared in the episodes 189 to 195. So it would be one of them. -- Deltaneos 15:34, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Just a suggestion.

Card Pic Format

Well i wanted to talk to you about the card pics you upload on the site. Couldn't you load the pics in .jpg or .jpeg format because the .png format pics are of high memory size & it really makes a problem for people like me who use slow internet service because of the high size of them, the card page i want to see are often slowed downed.

Also do you on this site have some sort of rule to only load pics in .png format because i have myself loaded many card pics (mostly anime only card pics) on this site in .jpg & .jpeg format because they are a lot smaller in memory size but after a few days i see them turned to .png format by someone else.

This i say because a pic on .jpg format of say resolution & size takes less memory space than a .png format pic. Example:- The Clear World anime card pic on this site in .png format is around 321KB size but the same pic in .jpeg format is around 31KB (which i made). So i would like you to please make some of the high sized .png pic to .jpeg pics which would be helpful for people who use slow speed internet like me. Supratim1986 10:17, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
