Transformation Monsters

Now that it's been clarified that even in the manga, these aren't considered to be a new type of Monster Card, I think the "Acid", "Dark Law" and "Daian" pages need revising. Should we just change type2 = Transformation to type2 = Fusion and add 'This card cannot be Special Summoned, except with "Mask Change".' to the beginning of the lore or should "Form Change" also be mentioned or mentioned instead for cards that were Summoned using it? -- Deltaneos (talk) 13:03, July 23, 2011 (UTC)

Those aren't the only two cards we'd need to mention. There's also "Mask Change Second" and "Damaged Mask". Adding all four is going to make for some very clunkily worded card lores. To be honest, it's not something I thought about at all when I went and clarified the rest of it. Regardless of anything else, type2 = Transformation to type2 = Fusion Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 14:10, July 23, 2011 (UTC)
Have any "Masked HEROes" been shown to be Summoned with more than one of the four cards? Or have any of the real world ones been Summoned with anything other than "Mask Change" in the manga? If not, we might be able to say that each can only be Summoned with a particular one of the four.
If they have... since the real world ones only mention "Mask Change", I suppose we could do the same with these ones, like how Ritual Monsters only mention their unique Ritual Spell Card. And consider the others to be alternatives like "Advanced Ritual Art" and "Contract with the Abyss".
There's also the dodgy 'This card can only be Special Summoned by the effect of a "Mask" card'. But I worry if we did that people would jump in and add every card with "Mask" in its name to that series and create an article beginning with something like "Mask is an archetype used by Umbra and Lumis in Yu-Gi-Oh! and Jaden Yuki in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX manga.". -- Deltaneos (talk) 16:19, July 23, 2011 (UTC)
No. All of them were Summoned only once, actually (and "Damaged Mask" only ever Summoned a non-Fusion "Masked HERO", but the wording would allow it Summon a Fusion one). Yes, "Vapor" was Summoned via "Form Change".
I think that works.
Yeah, let's avoid that last option at all costs.
On a related note, what's the point of having a page for "Double Attack (Attack Union)" and a page for what happens when its used. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 00:13, July 24, 2011 (UTC)
I think this edit is inaccurate and one I was hoping people wouldn't make. A lot of fans can't seem to accept that the game works different in the anime and manga and we don't have to change card's lores to the closest real world equivalent. (I've even seen one page say that in the anime "Giant Soldier of Stone" had an effect that lets him destroy 1 Spell Card.) Unless I'm mistaken, if you translate the text on "Double Attack (Attack Union)" you get something like '2 "Masked Hero" monsters can attack 1 monster together. The ATK is equal to the their combined ATK.' That means that both monsters actually attack one monster at the same time. This is impossible in the real world, so it's a manga only mechanic. The other article was on this mechanic. The effect it was changed to in that edit is similar, but still a lot different. e.g. "Red Dragon Archfiend" shouldn't destroy one of them in the End Phase.
Anyway, I was half expecting to see more cards that Double Attack, so the article's not as important as I thought it would be when I started it. It seems to be a once off odd rule, which we've seen plenty of before. -- Deltaneos (talk) 02:51, July 24, 2011 (UTC)
May I suggest we just revert it and add a hidden note stating not to change it? We could add hidden notes to a lot of card articles saying this. It might help. It may also help to include it in the documentation for CardTable2 (and advertise the fact that such documentation exists a bit better). Yes, the obsession with translating everything to real world terms bugs me as well. I wish people would just accept that they the rules differ. The lores for "Dark Sanctuary" and the Legendary Dragons are impressive attempts to translate them into real-word effects. That does not make them any less wrong. Hell, I'd love to remove all the Notes from episode/chapter articles detailing differences in effects. I really think there being parameters on the card pages for the lores should suffice.
Right. I'm not sure we really need it then, since it would be covered in the card page anyway. It's also a rule that likely would have seen much more use had the manga not been cut short (thanks, ZEXAL). Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 03:47, July 24, 2011 (UTC)
Hey, sorry to butt in, but I just like to give you some information that similar to this flaw - Remember the time when Judai turned Supreme King? Yes, "Dark Fusion" and etc... That can also be used via "Dark Calling" instead. I am pretty sure that "Mask Change Second" and "Damaged Mask" can put in the word just like "Dark Calling" referring to "Dark Fusion" when summoning the Evil HERO Fusion Monsters. --FredCat 16:24, July 23, 2011 (UTC)
I think that's also a good option. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 00:13, July 24, 2011 (UTC)

Tragoedia's Weighing of the Heart

Do you know which chapter Tragoedia's Weighing of the Heart took place in? And would you be able to get a more appropriate infobox image for that article? -- Deltaneos (talk) 16:21, July 23, 2011 (UTC)

Chapter 31. The current image is quite appropriate. Tragoedia's heart being weighed is precisely what is happening in that picture. WK absorbed it and its weighed against the Feather of Ma'at. WK doesn't turn brown until after the weighing is complete. Looking through the chapter, there are two other images we could use, both of which show Kuriboh's side slowly falling. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 00:13, July 24, 2011 (UTC)
Also, I believe I made a mistake in my chapter summaries when I mention Seto and Kalim. Tragoedia's weighing happens shortly after the Kul Elna Massacre. So those two characters would not have been the priests that sealed him. Their unnamed predecessors would have been. The Pharaoh they wish to hide the existence of Tragoedia from would have been Atem's father. An IP pointed this out at Talk:Tragoedia (character) and I failed to go ahead and fix the articles (though I have verified from the manga itself that the IP was indeed correct). Hey "Cheesedude" I was wondering if you could slightly edit a mistake in "Ruka's bio? Ruka cannot manifest her duel spirits that she befriended, rather she is the only person who can see or talk to them(that doesn't mean she can manifest them). It's not like Judia/Jaden. Yes he could do that but what everyone forgets is thats because he fused with a duel spirit(Yubel) and before that he could only see and talk to them while everyone else couldn't. The scene in episode 19 shows Ruka holding Kuribon(but that's only because she was in the spirit world, same thing in episodes 48-49). Ancient fairy dragon and Regules appeared in episode 51 after Ruka's duel with Demak, however Ruka did not manifest them, rather they materialized on their own. In episode 70 she did not manifest Regules and he didn't manifest ether, he just appeared as an image and warned Ruka(same thing in episode 78). So she cannot manifest them like Judia/Jaden can, she only can talk to them.Shardsilver (talkcontribs) 00:13, August 9, 2011 (UTC)

Would you mind getting PoirotH to stop messing with Leo's article(yes it's me, I'm using a mobile device since something came up). I know that some may not agree, but this is ridicules(he is the only one who seems to have a problem). (talk) 03:41, August 12, 2011 (UTC)

So you're saying we should include it as a side comment that he may have powers?PoirotH (talkcontribs) 05:01, August 12, 2011 (UTC)

And I believe it wasn't due to his supposed "powers". I won't deny those things happened, but I don't think they happened because Leo has above human abilities. For all we know, the Crimson Dragon could have done it. Wouldn't be the first time it comes to rescue.PoirotH (talkcontribs) 05:20, August 12, 2011 (UTC)

So you're saying we should include something like "When Leo Summoned Life Stream Dragon, activating its effect to restore their LP, the pain he, Luna and Jack felt disappeared..." etc. into the main article, or something else that doesn't directly imply anyone of being responsible for whatever happened?PoirotH (talkcontribs) 05:27, August 12, 2011 (UTC)

Fair enough. Though I think it should be better expressed than the example I made, but I just can't think of a good sentence.PoirotH (talkcontribs) 05:34, August 12, 2011 (UTC)

Alright I think I have solution. What do you guys think(no I am not saying he has psychic powers, I am simply saying the damage he inlicted on Lucciano and Aporia is much like that of a psychic duelist, that does not mean that he is a psychic duelist)?

Although these hints only occur in the second season, it is shown that Leo may have some sort of ability(it is currently unknown however). During His and Luna's fight with Lester, Lester doesn't even flinch from Luna's attack, and simply brushes it off, despite the damage being real. When Leo inflicted damage on him, Lester groaned and looked pained. During the fight with Aporia, throughout the duel Aporia felt no pain (it is to be noted that Aporia did not feel pain even from his own Trap Card). When Leo attacks, Aporia yells in pain, indicating that Leo inflicted real damage, much like that of a Psychic Duelist. It is interesting to note that both times Leo seemed to inflict actuall damage, he had a desire to hurt his opponet in order to protect Luna(simaler to how Akiza's powers were born, as they came from anger and rage, and a desire to inflict pain on others). After Leo gains Life Stream Dragon, it healed the team(it is not known however if it was Lifestream Dragons doing), much like what Akiza's dragon did in episode 140.Shardsilver (talkcontribs) 13:43, August 12, 2011 (UTC)

Sorry about that, I only did what you said. I thought you ment to put all of it in his biogragphy section (my mistake). Do you want me to put at the top where it mentions he was once a signer, something like "For unexplained reasons, he seemed to be able to hurt both Lester and Aporia(below)". Maybe it's a bit much, but I just thought I'd ask. By the way, where would the part that mentions the fact that both times Leo seemed to inflict actuall damage, he had a desire to hurt his opponet in order to protect Luna (much like Akiza, as she inflicted damage through rage, and a desire to hurt/inflict pain on others)?Shardsilver (talkcontribs) 00:38, August 14, 2011 (UTC)

Guess I should jump in; if both cards have same image but different names, then they should merging together! For freaking crying overloudly! --FredCat 21:46, August 28, 2011 (UTC)
Well, this is an interesting case... Other than the different Japanese names, there doesn't seem to be any reason that the cards should be considered different from each other - they both have the same artwork and almost identical effects. It really strikes me as the same card, that just got renamed in the transition from anime to OCG. Couldn't this be covered by the Card Trivia page? ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 23:47, August 28, 2011 (UTC)
You're talking my language, Phillip! So is each other Anime that adapted into OCG/TCG cards! --FredCat 23:54, August 28, 2011 (UTC)
This has caused considerable confusion in the past. I didn't realize until several months ago that we had both articles and assumed it was a matter of translation. They are different card though, per their Japanese names. I think we should keep the separate articles. If it's not already, their similarities can be covered on both of their card trivia pages. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 00:18, August 29, 2011 (UTC)
WinterNightmare pointed this out to me. We have other, very similar cases to this. "Insecticide" and "Eradicating Aerosol" along with "De-Spell" and "Cursebreaker". Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 02:12, September 2, 2011 (UTC)
Not the exact same situation, but "Poseidon Wave" and "Zeus Breath" is another similar case. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 07:00, September 2, 2011 (UTC)
Another one. The anime version of "Level Down!? has no "?" in its Japanese name. We do not have a page for it. So what are we doing about all these? We have two who want to put in card trivia and me who wants the articles retained? Anyone else stalking my talk page and wants to comment? Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 15:10, September 7, 2011 (UTC)
You already have my opinion (though I think I've actually moved towards "undecided"... surprise surprise), though I wonder if there's enough here to justify an article (and, if so, what would it be called)? ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 17:39, September 7, 2011 (UTC)
I'm surprised these aren't listed at card evolutions. Actually, they may be. I didn't check. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 22:07, September 7, 2011 (UTC)
I just checked; none of them are. What would be a good section title, do you think? ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 23:40, September 7, 2011 (UTC)
"Time Travel" and "Dimensionhole" look to be another pair. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 06:54, September 15, 2011 (UTC)
As much as they seem like they would be, it's not. "Dimensionhole" was used in episode 107. "Time Travel" was used in episode 198. They're separate cards. If it was the other way around, I could see it being a pair like this. But the actual effect was used first, then a similar card. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 07:01, September 15, 2011 (UTC)

Today, he's created a useless article, added a link to said useless article into another article, and requested citations for Match Winners. The first two are spamming. The third was a legitimate (if unneeded) edit. I don't feel comfortable banning him at this point. Having said that, I did issue him a warning last time. If he does vandalize again, I'll block him. It's the first time I see this term, so I have no idea about what should it be translated. Oh, thanks for point them out, I usually see them right next to each other, with Featured Duels... Guess I need some of your special Coffee side-effect to get better sight here. --FredCat 00:39, September 2, 2011 (UTC)

I generally prefer them to be as close to the bottom section of the article as possible, but know that you mention it, we don't actually have any policy on where they're supposed to me. And for the record, the featured cards for that season are on my to-do list (now that Aged Goblin took care of the all missing GX ones, that is). Assuming you mean Aged Goblin, I'm pretty sure he added them to all the ones that were missing as far as GX goes. That was something I had always intended on getting around to but never did, so I'm very glad it's done now. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 00:49, September 2, 2011 (UTC)
Indeed, I meant him, not you. But that's good news he done them. If he still on it, then I would just jump in and wax them up with him. --FredCat 00:52, September 2, 2011 (UTC)

This shit

Both Chaos monsters are GX. BLS only appeared in GX and full picture of CED would not have appeared in DM. They're both from episode 19, from Misawa's explanation of how they're summoned. "Magic Cylinder" has to be from GX. It had only one "in-Duel" appearance in DM despite how many times it actually appeared. That doesn't look like Yami Yugi's hand. The pic with the stars is the anime version of "Level Down!?". Its anime effect was essentially a LV version of "Cost Down". That's from GX episode 70. Giant orange thing is "Amphibian Angel - Frog-Hael", from GX episode 74. That's all I can tell you off the top of my head, but I may be able to identify some of the others later. Assuming you haven't gotten to it by then, I'll move the images when I get back from work later today. Don't have time now before I go. Thanks, Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 09:38, September 3, 2011 (UTC)

Re: Card Lores

Actually, no. You can see it in many cards like Synchro Monsters and Gemini Summoner that monsters, who instead of 'effect' have another word like 'spirit', 'gemini', and 'tuner', are not capitalized. MadRest 18:45, September 4, 2011 (UTC)

It even says so in the manual of style. MadRest 18:47, September 4, 2011 (UTC)

I see you changed my edit back to changes. i didn't understand why you kept it in the category "MonsterSpellTrap" (mst) when i had it in "Actions". i'm guessing it had to do with "Sends from your hand to your Graveyard for cost" thing. yeah, i sorta overlooked it; i wanted to change it with "Sends from hand to Graveyard for cost" and "Sends from your hand to your Graveyard", but i left the "for cost", the italics. Does an archetype member furigana make?

For example, are Magic Elf cards (those with 魔法妖精 (マジック・エルフ) in their names) also Elf cards (those with エルフ in their names), since the string "エルフ" appears only in the furigana of the former? I can't see any reason this wouldn't be the case, but I also don't know if there are any OCG examples of this, or whether there are any OCG rulings to this effect, or perhaps whether there's some underlying mechanic of Japanese Ruby text/furigana that would make this treated differently somehow or something. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 20:14, September 7, 2011 (UTC)

I have no idea, to be honest with you. That sounds like a question I'd be asking you. I'll take a quick look through some other archetypes later and see if I come up with anything though. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 22:02, September 7, 2011 (UTC)
All right, cool. If you don't turn up anything, we can always ask in the ruling queries forum. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 23:21, September 7, 2011 (UTC)
Not finding anything about this. I'm not even finding another example that's jumping out of at me that would be similar. There were several, but all of those aren't actually archetypes. It doesn't help that the specific example you mentioned has no TCG context, since the only support card is manga-only (not that that matters in the long run). Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 23:32, September 7, 2011 (UTC)
I went ahead and asked Delt if he knew anything we don't; if he can't help either, I'll go ahead and post in the rulings forum. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 23:36, September 7, 2011 (UTC)

This is the same as Talk:Knight#Kanji isn't it? -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 01:56, September 8, 2011 (UTC)
Yes, actually, and Deus commented there wit the example of Archfiend Mirror ("悪魔の鏡 (デーモンズ・ミラー) ") being an Archfiend ("デーモン"). That answers this question, then; if an archetype only requires a kana string for a card to be a member, and a given card has that exact string in the furigana of its name, it is a member of the archetype. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 02:13, September 8, 2011 (UTC)

Des Croaking Tip

Hey Cheesedude. Another editor and I are disagreeing over whether or not Des Croaking will work with more than 3 Des Frogs face-up on the field. He argues that it doesn't say three or more. But on the other hand it doesn't say "exactly three", like how Archlord Kristya does, either. Tested in the WC game, it works with 4, for what that's worth. Since there's no ruling on this, can we maybe have someone check to see if the Japanese lore is more specific? I really don't think it needs to be in the tip section either way. --Golden Key (talkcontribs) 00:29, September 11, 2011 (UTC)

Interesting. A google translate says that the Japanese lore simply says "3", not that google translate is the best source to use. That said, if you want to know for sure, I would contact Deus Ex Machina, who has extensive knowledge of OCG rulings. For now, just stop editing the page. We don't need an edit war. :) Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 00:34, September 11, 2011 (UTC)

Episode Pages

Well, if you want to talk about it, then let's talk about it now. I would like to see Turn numbers next to the respective featured duels, as it visibly helps to see how far the duel has been progressed. I feel that users that may be looking through the featured duel pages may be confused by what has already happened in the field, especially if the duel was part of a episode that was a continuation of the last episode.

No problem. If my changes end up being reverted, then I'll start a topic about it. Minhtam2448 (talkcontribs) 16:20, September 13, 2011 (UTC)

Re: Jin's Dance Cards

I'm assuming you're talking about "Dance of the Master of the Guard". That card is based on Exxod, and literally Shugoshin means Guardian God. But, Guardian God already has an English name (Master of the Guard), and that's why I added a translation. I get the names from Tangorin. gx_st's subs are just awful and horribly wrong. Their translations shouldn't be used for card names anymore. MadRest 10:08, September 17, 2011 (UTC)

Only Koala and Slime are archetypes out of those. Their support cards are anime only, however. Anything listed in archsupport for the others you listed is a misuse of the parameter. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 23:51, September 25, 2011 (UTC)

Dark Scorpion, Bamboo Sword, Penguin, Chrysalis, B.E.S. and Nitro are archetypes.
