The Undisputed UDS Championship was a special one-of tournament related to the Ultimate Duelist Series held at Konami's E-Sports Arena in Hawthorne from February 17-18, 2024. 16 players with previous UDS titles participated in the tournment.

Tournament Background[]

The Ultimate Duelist Series was a prestigous tournament series that had existed in North and Latin America from 2015 to 2020. In total, 19 tournaments were held.

In December 2023, almost four years after the last tournament, Konami reached out to all 18 UDS Champions (only 18 as Alejandro Garcia had won two UDSs) to invite them to a special, final event.[1] This tournament was later named "Undisputed UDS Championship". This event was unprecedented in a number of ways. For example, the winner received an "Undisputed UDS Championship Ring" made up of real precious metals and gemstones as a prize, something very unusual for a Yu-Gi-Oh! tourmament.[2]

On the friday before the tournament, Konami hosted two more small online Invitational Tournaments, one for Duel Links and one for Master Duel. For these tournaments, Konami invited a combination of content creators and competitive players. The Duel Links Invitational was won by Team Ghost Beef, made up of competitive player "Serenity" as well as content creators "Schiggys", "5thRateDuelist" and "Girbeagly". The winning team of the Master Duel Invitational was Doom Donuts, also consisting of a competitive player (Jesse Kotton) and three content creators (Paul McGee, "RhymeStyle" and "Kripp"). Notably, Jesse Kotton and Paulo Goncalves participated in both the Master Duel Invitational and the main event. In total, the three-day event with the three tournaments was dubbed "Quarter Century Celebration (QCC)", meant to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the card game's release in Japan.[3]

Results[]

The main event was won by Jesse Kotton, who used a "Fire King Snake-Eye" Deck and defeated Juan Sebastian Andrade, who used a "Snake-Eye" Deck, in the finals. The semifinalists, Andres Torres and Cameron Neal, used "Branded Despia" and "Fire King Snake-Eye" Decks respectively.[4]
