Other notable examples include "[[Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes]]", which is unaffected by any other [[card effects]], and "[[Number 81: Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Superior Dora]]", which can make a target face-up monster become unaffected by all other card effects except its own.

Unaffected (Japanese: けない, ukenai) is the term used in certain cards that are immune to the effects described in its effect description.

Mechanics

Cards that are unaffected by card effects can still be used to pay the costs for activation of card effects that are of the same card type that they are unaffected by. They can also be Special Summoned via card effects with the same card type that they are unaffected by. A monster unaffected by card effects can attack despite the presence of a card effect of the card type they are unaffected by, which would otherwise prevented it from attacking.

If a card effect is applied to a card that is unaffected by effects with the same card type as the applying effect, it will still resolve, albeit with no effect. If a card is unaffected by card effects, that effect solely applies to the card itself, and not the players. Cards that are unaffected by card effects can still be chosen by players as the targets for card effects that they are unaffected by, but said effects will resolve without effect on the target.

Effects that apply to players will still continue to apply even if they were applied to cards that are unaffected by the same card type as said effects. If the effects of a Spell or Trap Card that does not remains on the field are applied to a target, and that target later becomes unaffected by card effects of that card type, the effects of said Spell or Trap Card will continue to apply to the target, provided that they resolved prior to the target becoming unaffected. However, if the effects of a Spell or Trap Card that remains on the field are applied to the target prior to it becoming unaffected by card effects, then they will cease to apply to the target as a result.
