==Making the wiki more professional==
In order to make this wiki more professional, we must prevent the use of Duelist lingo throughout the pages. Number one, Duelist lingo does not accurately describe the mechanics of the game. These terms include KO, killing, and such. On another computer my attempts to clean this up have been severely attacked. Will anyone help me out? While in a duel between to Duelists who know most all of the cards used, informal terms can be fun. However, in a wiki, we must be more formal. --[[User:74.194.118.12|74.194.118.12]] 21:14, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Main page vandalism

Apparently, someone just vandalised the main page, could someone please restore the page and warn the vandal? Maelstromm 10:50, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

I've been looking at the main page history and it seems like it's being vandalized all the time! Normally I would suggest restricting it or something but there's the previous discussion about locking the main page. (below) Robo Mike 07:28, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

You Know Why Cdip Sucked and why Stike of Neos is good

I Believe that they are putting in to many weak but cool looking anime cards such as cyberdark dragon which could become a solid deck type if there were better dragons.Son looks good because it has relativly good monsters. I was the guy who posted the duelist pack Zane release date originaly gimme credit. You may continue this discussion on my talk page Valas 15:41, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

-Nobody takes credit for anything on this Wikia, it is against the spitit of the GFDL, which I personally take very seriously. Credit for all content on the Wikia extends to every single contributor.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 23:06, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Should we include more card pics?

Right now we only have one pic of each card. Do you think we should include more (and maybe make them smaller for more room, people can click on them to get a better view.) --63.65.45.98 17:34, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

One image per card article is good enough, for three reasons.

1) Lack of room, since the image should be clear, and be of a decent size 2) This is a TCG-orientated Site, with info on the OCG translated into English 3) Card Galleries are already under construction to house every pic of every card. - TwoTailedFox

I've found alot of Japenese cards but where the number in the bottem left corner should be it instead reads "Replica" or without any number at all. Are these legitamite cards? --DarkMastero 20:47, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

  • They are perfectly legitimate, in the OCG, "Replica" is used to denote that the card has been reprinted. --TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 20:53, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

List of Decks

Its a little outdated, but this should help.

Excuse me, but...

Excuse me, but Ancient Sanctuary is not a discontinued set, the discontinued sets are the first five, Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon, Metal Raiders, Magic Ruler, Pharaoh's Servant, and Labyrinth of Nightmare. Everything else is still out on the market.

I believe by "discontinued" they mean no longer in production. However, they can still be found in stores. I am not completely sure of this.

Page widening problem

Hi, I've made some changes to the tables on the main page, they were covering over the Google ads on some screen resolutions. You have a lot on this page, you may want to consider moving some to another page. As you grow it will be even more difficult to fit every thing on. I'd suggest taking out everything under the card of the week, and moving it to it's own page. It's looking good though. Regards -- sannse (talk) 20:58, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

  • Thanks, I'll mark that as the first thing I'll do on my day off. I've fixed a few things that didn't look right, but kept the basic layout you edited. --TwoTailedFox 19:22, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

Deck Type Redlinks

I have been working on fixing redlinks on the Main Page, specifically the Deck Type redlinks, but seeing as almost every single one of the Deck Type links are redlinks I can't do it alone. Since Deck Types are significant in Yu-Gi-Oh, we should concentrate on fixing as many of these redlinks as possible. I have fixed the following redlinks so far:

Burn Deck

Beatdown Deck

The articles which already exist are painfully short and uninformative. Please help; these redlinks must be fixed!

I'd help, but I only know of the decks that actually have articles so far. And for several years, I only played Beatdown. (Being on a limited budget sucks) Anything else I could help with? Jgamekeeper 06:45, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Do you know how categories work? Perhaps you could help to categorise the pages about the decks you know. Wikipedia:Help:Categories is very long, so perhaps not too useful, but basically, you type [[Category:Deck type]] (or whatever you want to call the category) at the end of the page. Then you can follow the red link to the category page and give it a brief description (like "these pages are about "whatever"). Other things that need doing are just improving and expanding the existing pages, and also promoting the wiki to others who might be able to help. Angela talk 14:11, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Players ?

1.Can I add an article about the best Yu-Gi-Oh! players ? 2.Can I add an article about card's shortcuts ?

  • I would do articles about Individual players, liked from an Article, such as 'Notable Yu-Gi-Oh Players'
  • I'm not sure entirely what you mean.--TwoTailedFox 16:58, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

I think he means real life players of the TCG. --63.65.45.98 04:05, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Suggestion

Someone should protect this page from vandalism.

That would be more damaging that helpful at this stage. The main page needs improving, and it's easy to revert vandalism. See Wikia:Help:Main Page for reasons this needs to be left open to encourage new users. Angela talk 08:07, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
Is protecting this page from moving OK ?
Yes, I'll do that now. Angela talk 14:11, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Another idea: How about locking the page from anonymous users?--SWME 01:41, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Do you think it's necessary? It's not like it's under attact from anonymous users. Considering the majority of people who view it are anonymous users, it could be quite offputting and prevent people getting involved with the wiki. Angela talk 05:56, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
I know it isn't for wikis this but it is only for the wikis that need it.--SWME 03:58, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Discontinued Packs

Excuse me but i never knew packs could be discontinued. Does anyone know why they got discontinued? If so leave the answer in my talk page. --Evil Yugi 14:42, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Singapore Yu-Gi-Oh! dub

Hey, guys! Did you know that there is a Singapore English dub of Yu-Gi-Oh!?

A thread at Janime ( http://www.janime.eu/showthread.php?t=15598 ) told me all about it.

  • Characters use dub names
  • Visuals are unaltered
  • The dialogue is a mix of US dub and uncut dialogue, like the uncut US dub

More or less, it is a different, exotic dub! WhisperToMe 01:02, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Too much on Main Page?

The main page is WAY too clunky. too much on it.... i would suggest breaking it up into subpages OR adding a template based "show/hide" (see Here for an example). Keeping the main stuff seperate butt adding the "show/Hide" chart under... --Midnight08 18:33, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

  • I currently have plans in the Work to Branch out from the Main Page to at least 4 Seperate Sections, with the aid of some Image-based redirects. --TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 23:13, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
cool that sounds good... its not so bad now that i adjusted the HUGE pic of Breaker anyway lol=P --Midnight08 23:15, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

=) lol looks like some1 liked my "show/hide" idea =) Its a pain to get working, but really is worth it =) --Midnight08 20:30, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

The settings were so amn fiddly to work out. I had to go onto Wikipedia, and change the Wiki Javascript and CSS settings manually. I have no idea what I added, i just copied and pasted.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 20:33, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Merging Articles

I may be new here, but already I've noticed some explanation pages are really, really short. As wikipedia would put it, a stub. Wouldn't it be better to merge similar articles together in one page with subheadings? Examples would be the Monster card type pages (Warrior, Aqua, Pyro...etc) and perhaps a few other things like that?

At least you wouldn't have to load up a new page everytime to see everything. Louisisthebest 007 14:45, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

A page per subject allows each to be expanded, and cover a whole range of topics, withot having to spread to different pages later on. What is small now will be expanded upon in due course.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 15:40, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, TwoTailedFox is right. Some very short pages right now will get longer and longer as time goes by because this Wikia is not complete yet. There is still a lot of information about Yu-Gi-Oh! that isn't on this site yet, AnnaV 18:19, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Featured Card?

Maybe there's room for something else right now. Breaker's been there for quite a while. --Robo Mike

Ok, I see it's been altered. Excellent choice of cards and good article. Who writes this section? --Robo Mike 07:17, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Card Of the Day

I think we should have a "card of the Day" Article, If you call the "Featured Card" card of the day, but how can it be "card of the day" when its up for like 3 months? ~ AncientGear

  • Do I have the permission to change the "card of the day" Article if it is still the same even for a week?

~ Omarz

    • I just changed it, and I'll try to keep them rotating every three weeks. I'd still like to do them, but I'd like suggestions ^.^.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 18:25, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
      • Thank you. It would be nice also to feature cards like Ojamas, not necessarily strong cards. That's my suggestion. Omarz

Suggestion

You know, if you would protect the Main Page from editing, you wouldn't receive vandalism to it, I mean, just look at some of the other wikis... --85.130.10.245 22:04, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

  • We actually have very little Vandalism, and protecting a Main Page doesn't seem very inviting to new contributers.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 22:09, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
  • Ok, just a safety measure. I'm glad to see you trust your contributors so much, this should make for a very strong community in the future. --85.130.10.245 23:02, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Card Game Glitches

I've noticed a new topic in the main link section on the front page called Game Card Glitches. While I'm not against it, I am very confused on what it's actually for. There isn't any guidelines or content inside of it, just a load of alphabetised letters categories.
Does anybody know what this topic is for, or will I have to make a awful pun about strange articles appearing out of nowhere being a 'glitch' or something? :P
--Louisisthebest 007 14:24, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

  • If would have a look at the Templates, I effectively added a link on every card on that. They're for cards whose effects are sometimes not reflected in the Games. Two notable examples: Blue Medicine only increasing the controller's Life Points, which happens in (nearly) every game it's appeared on, and in Tag Force, with Manticore of Darkness, you are not given the opportunity to activate it's effect. Glitches such as as this.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 16:33, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Attacks

i am trying to add all posibble attackes to their respective cards i am talking about for example the cards i ahve already done the sacred beast cards atacks (like hammons cerrulian sky fire attack) and ryu-ran's fire stream attack i plane to do the cyber dragons next and i would apprisiate help on this

In my opinion, it's not necessary. Unless there is a some page somewhere about what the monsters did in the manga/anime, the individual card pages should only be about what's on the card as well as associated rulings. Robo Mike 07:23, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Search Engine

Uh, I got bored, and the "add Yu-Gi-Oh! English" link in firefoxes search bar never worked for me, so I threw together a .src search plugin for the wikia. Does anyone like, care at all to want a copy? It's not packaged or anything, so it's just the .src and .png sitting there in the folder, but, you know. :O lolnotregisteredloldon'tknowhowtodothenamethinganyways. :>

It's easy. Just type ~~~~. Robo Mike 02:06, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

is "/" a forbidden character in file names or wiki entries?

I'm particularly referring to the Demise/Doom OTK, if it's not fine, then would someone kindly fix it? --Robo Mike 18:50, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

It's ok to use that, but if Demise existed then it would treat Demise/Doom OTK as a subpage of Demise and add an automatic backlink to Demise (which probably isn't a problem anyway). Angela talk 20:29, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

OVER PRICED CARDS ==

Yeah! I know I come from a time when STAR WARS cards were 25 cents a pack and you got that pink powdered stick of gum to go with it. True times have changed and with that so do prices unfortunaly - still I think most - well a good %90 anyway will agree when I say that todays prices are to much for so little when it comes to paying for a pack of cards these days - well where I am - the currant price is $4 a pack of cards. In the long run I do not really think I would mind paying these prices for my boys collection except that - for 1 - you dont even get the chance to fully come close to completing a full set before another card set comes out and they stop and throw on the new collection coming out - for example - the PGD or MFC or the late great LBO series. I also would not mind paying an outragous price niether if they the company wasnt so cheap to put more cards in a deck when bought and paid for - well for these outragous prices for a deck that costs them only about 20 cents to make a card - its like buying a bag of chips - you get a couple chips in the bag and the rest is all air - Well I hope the spirit will awaken in those that put out these YU-GI-OH cards and lower their prices - otherwise they will see as they are now a decline in sales and YU-GI-OH die hards. True the only way they are staying in game is comming out with at times a new card here and there to keep the gamers somewhat happy, other than that its the same cards borrowed unto the next deck. Collecting YU-GI-OH is getting to expensive of a hobby to pay and not fair enough in getting the cards people need and want for their decks.I am for sure if the price was downsized a dollar - which these card companies can live with - there would be an explosive new generation of Yu-GI-OH card collectors projecting there market more skyward than ever before. So in short I say to the card companies DONT! BE CHEAP! if you want us collectors - lower the price - add a few extra cards - and distribute the cards to a longer life on the shelfs or feel youre market drop in size - and dont forget the pink stick of gum. If you agree drop a line - stoneskyman@hotmail.com

Making the wiki more professional

In order to make this wiki more professional, we must prevent the use of Duelist lingo throughout the pages. Number one, Duelist lingo does not accurately describe the mechanics of the game. These terms include KO, killing, and such. On another computer my attempts to clean this up have been severely attacked. Will anyone help me out? While in a duel between two Duelists who know most all of the cards used, informal terms can be fun. However, in a wiki, we must be more formal. --74.194.118.12 21:14, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
