Activation/Self-Destruction[]
If I controlled a face-up Field Spell Card and tried to activate another one from my hand, would I have to "self-destruct" the one on the field before I allow my opponent to Chain to the activation? Let's say my opponent wants to Chain "Dark Bribe". I want to know if the Field Spell Card on the field would have to be destroyed, even if the negation occurred afterwards. I only ask this because if this is true, the article would need some slight re-wording. --UltimateKuriboh (talk • contribs) 19:16, March 23, 2013 (UTC)
- You destroy your own field spell first.
- If your opponent had the field spell, then you do not destroy the field spell.

Timing[]
When a field spell card is activated, and the opponent already has a field spell in play, is there field spell destroyed before or after the new one activates. I feel this needs to be clarified on this page. For example, the effect of "Malefic Red-Eyes Black Dragon" states "If there is no face-up Field Spell Card on the field, destroy this card." If the opponents card is destroyed before the new one activates then "Malefic Red-Eyes Black Dragon" would be destroyed. However, if the opponent's field spell is destroyed after the new one activates, then "Malefic Red-Eyes Black Dragon" would not be destroyed. - --MasterMarik (talk • contribs) 23:04, November 1, 2014 (UTC)The new rules allow for both players to control a Field Spell so unless a card says otherwise, you can have two Field Spells active at the same time without either one getting destroyed.
Sending to the Graveyard face-down or face-up in order to activate a new one?[]
Before, it was only possible to have a single Field Spell Card active between both players. You could however still Set a Field Spell Card and activate it later on. Since March 21st 2014 for the OCG and July 10th 2014 for the TCG a new rule is in effect, which allows both players to each have an active Field Spell Card. Before, when only one Field Spell Card could be active at a time, activating a new one would destroy the currently active Field Spell Card. Now however, you have to send your own Field Spell Card to the Graveyard in order to activate a new one.
Now I'm wondering, can I only send face-up Field Spell Cards to the Graveyard in order to activate (or Set) a new one, or could I also send a Set Field Spell Card to the Graveyard without first activating it? (Obviously it doesn't matter a lot, and in an actual Duel I would probably just activate a face-down Field Spell Card I want to get rid of anyway, in order to bluff my opponent in using a card like Mystical Space Typhoon, but I was just curious if you can send the face-down Field Spell Card to the Graveyard without first activating it.) Field Spells[]
Hi all, As I can't edit this page, I just wanted to point out that F.A. have 3 Field Spells (Circuit, Off-Road and City), so also tie for the record. (Although the second statement that these cards are their only Spell support does not apply to them.) If somebody could correct this, that would be great, thanks. Also, the trivia that Dragon Ravine is the first to have been banned might mention that Chicken Game is also banned in the TCG to this day? I don't think any other Field Spells have banned in the TCG (Dragonic Diagram is banned in the OCG, but Chicken is at 3), so that might be worth noting. Thanks for reading. - It's not notablwe trivia if more than one card meets the same criteria for said trivia so neither of those is worth putting up on the page.--MasterMarik (talk • contribs) 12:27, November 25, 2018 (UTC)
