After a touch or research, it does appear to be a portmanteau of French descent, possibly a reference to Coppélia, a sentimental form of ballet. (I've no idea what this has to do with the original monster, or the new one.)

coppelial can come from copper, actually the copper is used for some motors and some trains use the copper as energy for the motor--Yugx5dszexal (talkcontribs) 07:23, March 24, 2012 (UTC)
