The Premium Packs are Booster Packs that were devised by Konami to provide players with the opportunity to acquire higher value cards, at a relatively low price compared to that of a normal Booster Pack.
OCG[]
In the OCG, Premium Packs proved very popular. They were met with much enthusiasm, primarily because normal Booster Packs in the OCG are not guaranteed a rare. Sets usually contained Secret Rare and Ultra Rare cards, while more recent sets also contained Common cards. Many cards released in Premium Packs originally featured in a Yu-Gi-Oh! anime or manga series.
TCG[]
There have been two Premium Packs released in the TCG. Premium Pack 1 is the TCG equivalent of the OCG's Premium Pack 6. Premium Pack 2 continued this trend, being the equivalent of Premium Pack 11. Premium Packs have since been replaced by the Hidden Arsenal series and other similar series.
