In the second series anime, [[Joey Wheeler]] recited Gearfried's story about his power and how he wore a special armor, which comes in the form of Gearfried the Iron Knight, to lock away his powers. His true power is then revealed in the form of [[Gearfried the Swordmaster]] through the use of [[Release Restraint]]. Though yet to be used in the anime or manga, it is speculated that he was taught by [[Evocator Chevalier]] and advances in strength to become [[Phoenix Gearfried]].
