Any series will do, here are the requirements for that character to qualify...

  • They have to be an "actual duelist", not someone who duels only once because they are forced to or got possessed and are not being themself.

A perfect example of this is "Tea Gardner" from the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series. This is because she is a "cheer leader" of the group and avoids dueling at all cost, except when there is no other choice but to duel!

Another example of this is when that girl was possessed and became a "Dark Signer", she was using the "Fortune Lady" Deck. I don't know what her name is because I barely watched "Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds" and the few episodes that I've seen she is just in the background, not where the action is (dueling).

In other words, no "wanna be" duelist.

  • They meet the requirements if they duel only once or twice, but are "actually duelist", let me clarify these parameters for you guys.

(1) They duel because they want to, not because they have to.

(2) They actually know what they are doing, not just stumbling along as the duel goes onward (example: Tea Gardner)

(3) They have a prefered deck type (Example: "Mai Valentine" and her "Harpie Ladies"), not just "oh, I have to duel, let me see what kind of deck can I create on the last minute.

Please specify which series the character came from and please explain why they deserve their own spin off series. I am really looking forward to reading these guys!  :)

Thank you very much for your assistance regarding this matter, I really appreciate them! :)

"ISHIZU ISHTAR" from the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series

Not only is she HOT, but she is lethal in a duel. I would definite watch her adventures as the "main" character! :)

My opinions

Duel Monsters:

Téa Gardner: Episode 2 suggested she played the game at school, though she only had two onscreen duels during series. The Capsule Monsters special also has her able to use monsters. Though the setting during Duel Monsters wasn't as focused on dueling as much as later series (especially in the manga, which wasn't originally intended to have the game) and her aspiration was to become a dancer so it's unlikely they'd be able to make a convincing spin off series without significantly altering her character.

Mai Valentine: Her character's goals does include becoming a duel monster's champion so I could see her having a series. It could center on her moving up the ranks as she goes on to become a champian. Or they could use the season 4 plot and have her figting against the remains of the Orichalcos. Could include Joey also as his character related to hers.

Rebecca Hawkins: Originally a one episode character that became a main character in Season 4 and 5. She is well viced in the game making her more conceivable for a spin off. Though I'm not sure where they could go with her character with her already being the American champion.

Ishizu Ishtar: She is shown to be a very good duelist almost beating Seto Kaiba. In the Japanese dub it's even stated that she is better then the "normal" Marik. As for the plot maybe she could face the remains of the Rare Hunters making grabs for control of the organization.

Miho Nosaka: Doesn't have much in the way of related to the card game. Her character didn't really develop either.

Serenity Wheeler: Can't see much being done with her because she was really only plot device for Joey's character and never really had any aspirations involving Duel Monsters.

Vivian Wong: Being the Asian champion she is supposedly a good duelist. Though her character is mostly comic relief so I can't see much more then a short special for her. The Japanese ending implies that she became friends with Mai so maybe she'd be better suited as a side character in a story about Mai.

Isis, Kisara and Mana: Due to the fact that the card game wasn't present in season 5 it is unlikely they'd make a series off of their characters. Mana had some hope story-wise because she wanted be to become an elite magician like Mahad, but not was done with Isis. Kisara was mostly a plot device for Seto and is now deceased.

Creator of Light: Really just used as a deus ex machina. Not much to do with her as a character.

Dark Magician Girl: Being a Duel Spirit she does have potential. Though they'd have to make more cards to support her own card. In season 4 she seemed to have some sort of position guarding the Legendary Dragons which could make for a good plot point. In GX it is shown that she can travel to the real world.

Risa Kageyama: Does play the card game but not really much material for a plot.

Mrs. Muto, Ms. Chono, Kaoruko Himekoji, Mayumi, Miyuki Sakurai, and Aileen Rao, Hanasaki: Having no real character development there is nothing to do with them. None of them play the card game.

Amane Bakura and Cecelia Pegasus: Never seen in present tense and dead.

GX:

Alexis Rhodes: By far as the most potential. She has been shown to be able to be a challenging duelist. She goes on to becoming a teacher at another school in the last season which could make for a good plot point.

Blair Flannigan: Origionnly a one episode character that got her role expanded. Though she really only serves as a plot device for Marcel she does have some potential for a story since she'd only be a second year student when the others graduate making for another Duel Academy story.

Sarina: Is a good duelist being a challenge to Jaden and Aster. Though after the arc she is a plot device for Satorious.

Yubel: Was a good duelist but she's fused with Jaden now.

Yasmin: Being a Duel Spirit she could have a short story involving Gravekeepers, perhaps when the Light of Destruction was attacking the Duel Monster Spirit World.

Camula: To evil to become a protagonist.

Missy and Rose: Portrayed to comically to be a main character. Maybe a short special at best.

Alice: A doll spirit? Not much anywhere to go.

Tania, Maiden of the Aqua and Claret: If a series covered the rebuilding of the Duel Monster Spirit World after The Supreme King was defeated I could see her becoming a main character.

Fonda Fontaine, Mindy, Jasmine, Sadie, Dorothy, Linda, Harpie Lady, and Emeralda: Don't really have a well enough establish character to warrant a spin off.

Reggie MacKenzie: Is established as a good duelist, but becomes little more then a plot device for Light and Darkness Dragon.

Midori Hibiki: Is a good duelist and has potential for a plot line with her looking after her younger brother Hibiki. But is a minor character nonetheless.

Seika Kohinata: Could have a series on her becoming a stronger duelist (since she admitted Alexis was more suited for it because of how strong she was).

5D:

Akiza Izinski: By far the most likely of 5D. She is the strongest female duelist of the season. Although at the end of the series she decides to go into the medical field instead which would make it hard to justify having her as a duelist in a spin off series.

Luna: Though she avoided dueling until the later half of the series she did duel Aporia. The the epilogue her and Leo were shown as teenagers in Duel Academy making for a possible Duel Academy series (on motorcycles).

Sherry LeBlanc: Is a strong duelist proving a challenge for Akiza and Crow. The last episode suggest she may still be involved in dueling even after Zone's defeat so there is defiantly a possibility for her.

Carly Carmine: Only a good duelist when she was a Dark Signer (which she can't seem to remember. In the end she wants to be a reporter and not a duelist.

Misty Tredwell: Was a good duelist as a Dark Signer, but is never really seen after returning to normal (aside from a split second appearance in 150).

Patty, Sakura, Ran Kobayakawa, and Bartlet: Though they supposedly do duel, don't do it much onscreen.

Barbara: To evil to be a protagonist and not seen to be a duelist.

Mina Simington, Angela Raines, May, Nico, Annie, Stephanie, Martha, and Zora: Not involved in dueling.

Zexal:

Kotori Mizuki and Akari Tsukumo: Haven't been shown to duel yet.
