Yes, I understand Zenmaines has a good effect, but really, $100? What is so special about it that people assume it is worth that price? Does it also do their laundry? Make their dinners? I mean, in all honesty, at that price, I would rather use Acid Golem.

It's a great staller, a good out for hard to get over monsters and it's now a staple in the extra deck, even if you only have 2 level 3s. Because of all those things the demand is high, which raises the price.
Sure it'd be nice to have every card cheap but then you'd see every tom dick and harry running an Inzektor, Wind-Up or Rabbit deck.

Sure, if I got one, I would use it, but no card is worth that much to me.
Anyway, I'll just wait for a reprint to come out, because I know there will be one, even if it takes another year. Of course, by then, something better will be out. :-p

Wind-Up Zenmaines: $100 dollars of my opponent's money and trade value. Ghost-Rare Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon: $12 dollars. The look on your opponent's face when they realise they've been totally screwed by a card he never paid attention to before this moment: Priceless.
