How do Trap Monsters interact with Tyrannical Coercion? Would they be affected at all, once they become treated as Monsters? 66.228.109.2 (talk) 03:45, August 27, 2010 (UTC)

i believe The trap monsters cards , like soma the spirit, or metal reflect slime, will be still monsters. they are not being affected by a trap card (ej sakuretsu , gravity bind), they are tokens placed by a trap card. Aguz89 (talkcontribs) 15:44, August 27, 2010 (UTC)

They are not "tokens". They are the Trap Cards themselves. If Royal Decree is activated while a Trap Monster is treated as a monster, its effects will be negated and it will be placed face-up in the S/T zones.

It is the effect of the Trap Card that allows them to be treated as a monster. Therefore, if Tyrannical Coercion is face-up on the field, the Trap Monsters will not be affected by this effect and will return to the S/T zones.

Please note that this is a relatively new card and the OCG is still dealing with this card's rulings.-- HHTurtle Talk   16:05, August 27, 2010 (UTC)

Um, "Tyrannical Coercion" doesn't negate anything; it makes the monster unaffected by Trap Cards. I'd say that Trap Monsters aren't considered to be "affecting" themselves, so "Tyrannical Coercion" won't do anything.
Again, the card was just released, so we should probably wait for rulings. --Deus Ex Machina (Talk) 17:37, August 27, 2010 (UTC)
I am completely agreed with Deus Ex, since those trap cards are original to be Trap Cards, not Monster. I am understand of the Family Level, but this cards are complete different from what I am talking about. Union vs. Trap Cards are complete different from each other, as Union Monsters are original Monster before they enter Spell/Trap slots so I would say same with Trap Monster that they were original to be Trap Cards before they became monsters. --FredCat T.P.F.R.J.R.W.S. 17:59, August 27, 2010 (UTC)

I didn't say anything about negation. The "Royal Decree vs Trap Monsters" part was to explain the "Tokens???" problem to Aguz89. I gave my answer by using the logic that "Face-up monsters that you own are unaffected by the effects of other Trap Cards." refers to the face-up Trap Monsters that you own are unaffected by the effects of Trap Cards that is not Tyrannical Coercion, e.g. the effects of Trap Monsters that allow them to be treated as Monsters.

Again, wait for the official rulings. It might override my logic.-- HHTurtle Talk   11:48, August 28, 2010 (UTC)
