Yu-Gi-Oh! Wiki

Synopsis

Well, over the years, our beloved card game has evolved quite a bit. Is this a good thing, or a bad thing? What if they run out of ideas? How will we cope? Will the games leave a legacy? All these questions are determined by us, the customers. As we buy, or not buy for some cases, Yu-Gi-Oh! still lives on. But, what would happen if the fan base dwindled? I have a couple ideas (and suggestions) of my own.
1. Yu-Gi-Oh! could be replaced by a new incarnation (a reboot).
2. The mainstream game will live on and a new version will splinter off (hopefully called Duel Monsters).
3. It will vanish.
4. It will continue and get more broken.
5. it will continue and get fixed.

What're some other opinion? Xerdek! (talkcontribs) 04:22, July 26, 2012 (UTC)
Depends on what your word "Broken" means. As for fixing the game, there will also be people who continually argue that X card needs to be banned or something like that. But they'll probably continue to create new spin-off shows and what not. I mean it has survived more than 10 years, so it's probably gonna last 10 more. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 01:29, July 26, 2012 (UTC)
Awesome! I hope it does. But, they should try to reconfigure the mechanics of the game. :) I mean. I love this game and will continue to love it, but they should consider what the entire fan view is about. :D Xerdek! (talkcontribs) 01:40, July 26, 2012 (UTC)

It's likely that it will follow the path of MtG and become a classic long-runner. Of course, appreciation for the game will differ from that in MtG. It will be difficult, however, to effectively balance Yugioh to MtG's extent because that would often involve changing the core game mechanics. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 02:59, July 26, 2012 (UTC)

Popularity-wise, on the other hand, Yugioh's got some direct competition with the new Cardfight Vanguard. And it appears that Bushiroad card game (and its concurrent anime) are planned to be a similar long-runner. This will be a problem. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 02:59, July 26, 2012 (UTC)
I hope it becomes a long-runner. But, how will we fix the game? Xerdek! (talkcontribs) 03:40, July 26, 2012 (UTC)
I think Konami needs to take the banlist seriously, instead of using it to push new cards, use it as it was intended. Also, if it happened more than twice a year than it would lessen the damage of any bad formats like this one. Also, I personally believe that they should support older summoning types and make them useful again. Instead of just creating new ones work on some of the older ones. It could lead to new playstyles where every summoning mechanic has a use instead of simply existing. In my opinion, the problem isn't with the core gameplay, its with how Konami uses and abuses the gameplay. The game is fun if you stay outside of the meta, but its that the meta has been messed up so bad that I don't even want to play in tournaments. Jamesfury (talkcontribs) 04:32, July 26, 2012 (UTC)
How would you respond to the newer and newer broken cads that they keep releasing? (Sorry this has turned into a survey. XD) Xerdek! (talkcontribs) 04:48, July 26, 2012 (UTC)
Simple, if the cards are broken then hit them. Or at the least make cards that can counter them. Konami needs to also take into consideration the balance of the game when new cards are created, but even then its a few playtesters and card designers trying to look for combos in a game with thousands of cards. They can't really think about every combo, thus there will probably be a few cards that are broken. On the other hand there should not be cards that are inherently broken like the Chaos monsters, Yata, Mind Control, etc. The banlist happening more frequently will help solve this issue. I have an idea. Konami never releases another broken Archetype again and cracks down hard on the Ban List. Oh and there would be two Ban Lists (one for the OCG and one for the TCG). That will be the self-preservation of the game. Players will have to be creative to win. Oh, and there should be a bew Ban List each quarter, so to keep tabs on overpowered Decks! There we go. Solves everything. Xerdek! (talkcontribs) 05:44, July 26, 2012 (UTC)
