Me and My friend Play casually alot, but he's ver headstrong and will think hes right on a ruling no matter what (even if hes wrong, like most of the time) I dont think Im a master, so I always come to this site to clarify. so here's my question

Can you special Summon on your opponants' turn if you have the means to do so?

example: Lava Golem

I have one monster on the field, I summon another, and after the summon resolves, he tributes them both to special summon Lava golem. this has always been a problem because I can't find anything that says one way or another

example 2: Yamata-No-Kami

I declare an attack with a monster while he has none, he removes a spirit from play to special summon yamato - no - kami. He follows the rule of replay, but I still need clarification.

So I wanna know if you can special summon on you opponants turn if you have the means too (like D-Hero Plasma too) If not, please explain why even though he'll just say (thats stupid, this card game stinks) and if possible a case where you can special summon on your opponants turn.

Thanks!

im no expert either but as far as i know you cant ss like that on your oponites turn but you can in cases like gorz any trap based ss giant rat class monsters or if the card specifys on your oponites turn Millingfreak

Your Friend is Wrong

You cannot special summon monsters during your opponent's turn unless there is some sort of condition on the card which allows you to do so. Your friend must special summon Lava Golem, Yamato-no-Kami, etc. during his/her main phase(s). Cards that can special summon monsters during your opponents turn are just as millingfreak listed: traps, spells, monster effects (Gorz the Emissary of Darkness, Giant Rat, Mystic Tomato,Green Baboon, Defender of the Forest, etc). -- Sub 18:39, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

Thank you!, also, question redux

I didnt wanna make a whole new topic for this, but we have another question-

I know you can tribute stardust dragon to negate the destruction of card(s) on the field. but heres the scenario

Dark Dust Spirit/Skull Lair

When Dark Dust Spirit is summoned, he destroys all monsters on the field, I wanted to know if I coul tribute Stardust to negate this. at first I thought I could, but then its not a mandatory effect/ were unsure if it "activates" My friend argues that he didn't Activate the effect, it just happened., which makes a bit of sense I guess. I just need closure on who was right and if in the future DDS will be immune to Stardusts negate effect or not.

and with Skull Lair were both fairly sure that he has to activate the effect, but double checking so we don't argue.

Thanks again!
