  • I know its a bit dated but am curious how well it works. Its a spellcaster deck.(90% sure it still is I stopped playing about the the time of the 5D's era) My little brother has been using it at school lately against syncho's and other decks and keeps winning so not sure how good it is.

thanks for the help Mythghost (talkcontribs) 15:21, April 3, 2014 (UTC)

    • First off, take out Dark Magician of Chaos, Monster Reborn, Heavy Storm, and Change of Heart since those are banned, as well as Dedication through Light and Darkness since you can't use it without DMoC. Also, take out one Magician of Faith since you can only have one as of the latest TCG banlist. Other than that, I have no idea what to do to improve it. --Perfect Sige (talkcontribs) 15:46, April 3, 2014 (UTC)

thanks

ok I don't take it to tournaments so didn't know about the banned cards other than monster reborn. It usually just faces off against my other nostalgic friends and the kids at my brothers school. but thanks good to know if it ever enters a tournament not many changes would have to be made. Mythghost (talkcontribs) 15:51, April 3, 2014 (UTC)

I don't need to count up the cards to tell that it's a horribly oversized Deck. Too many cards appear as single copies, and the general focus of the Deck is too scattered to function properly about half the time. The first step I would advise, ignoring removing the banned cards, is to give this a read, then think about what kind of general strategy you'd want to build around. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 15:56, April 3, 2014 (UTC)

thanks that helps a lot. I'm going to work on a focus and strategy next. Mythghost (talkcontribs) 16:18, April 3, 2014 (UTC)

Ver. 2

thanks for rating the deck(or pile of cards as it was)

I did some streamlining and came up with this.

Total of 61 cards right now

Moved this from my talk page to the right position.

It appears that you're shifting towards a retro Spellcasters Deck. One thing to note: If something usually takes more than 2 specific cards to Summon without prior setup, the effort required is so steep you'd might as well turn it into a focus for your Deck. So, for example, you have 4 cards that take excessive effort to Summon - Magician of Black Chaos, Black Luster Soldier, Dark Paladin, and Sorcerer of Dark Magic. It would be far more efficient to devote the Deck to Summoning one of them, rather than running all of them at once and risk getting useless draws.

Also, try to get cards that either further your strategy or help you in a general situation. Type-specific removal or negation like Anti-Fusion Device or Ritual Sealing would do you no good if you have no prior knowledge to what the opponent's Deck contains. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 15:15, April 9, 2014 (UTC)

thx

Thanks a retro spellcaster deck is more how I tend to play. and your right about some cards being too hard to summon. I try to plan for everything and where I'm from people mostly rely on fusion/sychro and ritual so I decided to design it based on the people it seems to face the most.
