Forum:New yugioh anime/manga

seems like a new yugioh anime and manga will start next spring(i guess that proves the current 5ds season is the last). its name will be Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal. im not sure i like this name. the main characters name is Yūma Tsukumo.

The past few series (GX and 5D's), the targetted audience was Shōnen; teenagers, 10-18

Targetted audience for that is 12 and below. It's probably going to be childish and would make no sense :P

i would love a yugioh game mode where people used crazy logic in order to win.

enemy is using plants and has black garden active.

"i activate hinotama causing your garden to catch on fire killing all plant type monsters"

"but what about your monsters!?"

"being warrior monsters they know how to stop, drop, and roll. now i attack you directly!"

this match you are running thunder monsters like watts.

enemy says"i activate lightning vortex to destroy your monsters"

"lightning vortex is lightning and my monsters are thunder so they are immune. not only that they gain a permanent attack boost from this new surge of energy. its my turn now i attack!"

I have to say that this seies looks rubbish. Why have they changed the target audience to 12years old. Duel masters? honestly why did they get creators of duel masters into this because duel masters is just a cheap version of yugioh. This looks well too childish. Yuma is the worst name I have ever heard and the design of him looks ridicilous and you call him the main character of the series and the 'number 1 bad boy'. pretty sad about 5d's ending soon, as it has been airing for about 3years now. Although 5d's has recieved negative comments about the d-wheels, its a great series and the d-wheels look cool as well. Ok guys first off last time i check you people didnt even really bother to watch the yugioh anime since you people basically booted it as "unworthy" and childish for quite some time....and now you say the same again....sure the concepts and drawings are off but we mostly just play the game for the most part of it so why fret over an anime thats been going for over 10 years now? we were here for the cards and some were also for the anime but heck if you wanna complain about the anime(which most have anyways) then go watch something else and just stick to the card game its as simple as that. you are not obligated to watch the show so just let it go....otherwise forever hold your peace and freedom of gosip--Litherain (talk • contribs) 18:06, December 13, 2010 (UTC)

Litherain this is the yugioh wikia, which means anything about the card game and anime can be disscused here. I also do care about the anime. I have to say that making zexal is a stupid idea as it would be better ending yugioh as a triolgy. I really wonder why kazuki had to make another series when he said that 5D's would be the last. Zexal sounds like some stupid childish show, which zexal is actual aimed at. • it better not be like gx, 5ds has a story line that changes constantly, gx was just jaden dueling a random charcter every episode, and a storyline that changed after a while, if 5ds is over, then xenus better use cards that have not been seen like lightsworns, or gladiar beasts. 5ds still has alot of potential and should at least reach 250 episodes

well.......for me i loved pretty much all the series of yugioh sure some had thier flaws or something but over all i still made an effort to get my butt up and watch the shows when they aired on tv i was really into the anime too not just the cards alone.when i watch the show and i see one of those epic battles like the battle city finals with marik and kaiba and yugi,the battle of yugi against jaden and others like zane and yusei pulling out combinations they leave the screen tv with an impression of making me want to duel some body for hours and thats what i thrive on. ZEXAL may not look all that great but atleats watch the first 5 episodes and go with your feeling about it then but non the less im pretty sure they will introduce some really nice cards in ocg and tcg. all i wanna say is that people should just not judge a book by its cover cuz this is the same situation with dragon ball Z where the group branched it into the GT series without the main drawer and story conceptor of the origional series before hand. but then again like i said just watch the first few episodes and if you dont like it then dont watch it thats all im saying. even some bad shows have some good moments in them you just have to wait for them to come up.--Litherain (talk • contribs) 15:00, December 14, 2010 (UTC)

It will be good you guys. Pokemon also got bad, and some names might be changed. What if 4Kids dub this?

in the page for zexal it mentions excess summons. how do you figure they will work? the excess summon says you need two monsters that are the same level for the summon. the monsters are also not sent to the grave but used as "overlay". the thing closest to that is in magic/pokemon where you have creatures/pokemon that take up 2 cards and you need both to summon it. i assume that cards will be like "this card can only be special summoned when you have two x level monsters on you side of the field by using them as overlay" i think that the excess monsters might take up more then one monster card zone. if this turns out to be true i can image an excess monster that needs two other excess monsters of the same level to be summoned taking up 8 monster card zones.

i could also imagine that the overlay monsters stay on the field when the excess monster is destroyed like if de-fusion or de-synchro was used.

My Theory with the New Excess Monsters (plus other stuff)

• They're called Excess Monsters out of the fact that they need two monsters. Their energy must sort of "resonate" with each other and the excess of that forms the Monster.
• They would need the two "overlay" monsters used to summoned it in order to stay on the field, in order to be fair (i.e. if any one of the overlay monsters gets destroyed, Tributed, etc., it's nighty-night for the Excess Monster).
• Only 1 Excess Summon at a time, or perhaps you cannot Excess Summon another monster while an Excess Monster exist on the field (but it is possible to take control of your opponents' Excesses or Special Summon a properly Summoned Excess from the Graveyard or that's removed from play).
• Because of them, we will have monsters with "<number> and 1/2" for a Level. lol

And about Zexal. Well, I can't say I'm not disappointed, but like some of you guys here, I'm willing to give this a chance. I'm not so hot about the new monsters, because it's probably gonna be like the Synchro fiasco all over again.

And, can I ask for more sites that says that ZEXAL will be in anime soon. I know there's gonna be a manga (given the various scans I found on this site), and will probably replace GX once it's done, but nothing that reinforces the idea of an anime pretty soon (aside what plain text says).

Before I wrap this up, I wanna throw this in: 12-year-old Bad boy's Duel with someone cut off by a glowing figure? Said bad boy stands besides glowing figure plus gets a cyber looking outfit aside from his regular? This ain't just some card game! (I guess) This is card games.......IN SPACE!!

I doubt that we'll have half-levels; people are assuming that Excess Monsters work the same as Synchros, having to add the levels of the Materials together, but from the manga pages I've seen online that show off Aero Shark (the only Excess Monster we know of), the Materials AND the Excess monster has to be the same level, so you'd tribute 2 level 3 monsters to summon a level 3 Excess monster. 66.228.109.2 (talk) 14:56, December 15, 2010 (UTC)

Here and here]. According to the translation given with those pages, the first picture has Aero Shark's (the second pic's monster's) materials, Big Jaws and Skull Kracken (the latter is overlaid on the former). And, supposedly, the reason why they remain on the field instead of going to the graveyard is because they "assist" the Excess Monster, somehow. I'm starting to suspect this is a more elaborate version of Union monsters, much like how Synchros could be thought of as a more elaborate combination of Fusions and Rituals. 66.228.109.2 (talk) 21:34, December 15, 2010 (UTC)

A little harsh....Yeah, it looks kind of stupid, but this is da future! And don't judge it before it actually starts, it might have good depth to it, because CARDS GAMES ON MOTORCYCLES sounded stupid at first, but it had very nice plot and teachings...before 4KIDZ dubbed it, at least.

It's possible. I'm also not sure about the assumption that it'll work like Synchros and have the Excess monster have a level equal to the combined level of its materials. Why? Simple math; unless they come out with half-levels (which is pretty stupid and unlikely), there is absolutely no way you'd be able to get out an Excess monster with an odd-numbered level. So does that mean 5d's wont get another arc after this? Would there be a chance that the two may be aired separately? If not, how many more episodes are left? Is there any information at all regarding this???

I think that in order to Excess Summon, you need to have 2 monsters with the same type, level, and attribute, since you would have an "excess" amount of same monsters, so you turn them into something better by combining them.

i was sayin before that is new summoning is basily a upgrade of rutial monsters but all the shows so far had all that like 5d's gx and yugioh had it normal monsters --> effect monsters --> rutial monsters --> fusion monsters --> synchro monster --> and now exceed summoning

Also its a shame that they dont have that much powerful looking characters like Jack or Chazz or something like that and many people may realise me but a lot of good monster like stardust would get CED ( Compulsory - Evacuation - Device ) as i like to call it. it would be cool if they did something like

'When this card is Exceed summoned this card can not be returned to Extra deck and you can discard one card to activate one of the following effects:

this card is uneffected by spell or trap cards

What are they thinking?

All I can say is that this is a really bad move by Takahashi and Konami from a business standpoint. I mean, the game tanked when GX came around - kids 13 and under just don't have the $$$ or the means to buy Yugioh cards, especially the ones that are needed to win games. eh capcom dont know what their doign whn it comes to linking megaman series like megaman 9 and 10 had no story relevance conencting to the x series but anyways about this new yugioh series-im all for it and you know why?the main guy was actually from yu-gi-oh gx although only the name was emntioend and i loved the gx series it was funny and the island made things lively,i also like the duel masters show so this is a win win i hate to say it but yugioh 5ds just didnt have any interesting twists or quirks while i did like synchro summonign i was just simply sick of seeing a cardgame with trash as a duelsite everyday it was sickening.

additionally one of the new main guys is using a fish deck,for once fish types are gonna get out in the spotlight we havnt had a water duelist since mako tsunami thats just how sad and overlooked water monsters are,i know all of you are upset yugioh 5ds is coming to an end i am too a bit but tis time for change,i know all you blackwing lovers and such are dissapointed but its time other cards and archetypes breathed some new life into us,now as long as yugioh next series doesnt turn out as bad as the new digimon series9which looks so stupid im not gonna comment)then im sure we'll all agree the new series has potnetial.

now about the new summoning type,excess summon?it seems a lot like synchro summonign except the monsters levels have to be the same,while this certainyl makes thigns challengeing now people are gonna have to really focus more on monster levels,reasons monsters could go under the new card is the excess monster ay gain the udner monsters effects or one of the material monsters might be summoend when the excess monster is destroyed,however in the end honestly i just think they didnt want us using our graveyard resources.
