Even though i use a Six Samurai deck, I believe the Great Shogun Shien is slightly to powerful. My reasons are it is far to easy to summon, only 2 six samurai's on the field for it to be special summoned(which as six samurai's are for field swarming makes it even easier). Also it's effect hampers many decks with 1 spell or trap activated per turn. On top of this it has 2500 attack, which should be lower as it has a powerful effect and easy summoning conditions.

In my opinion I think it should be limited at least, as it is a powerful card which is not always a vital card in a six samurai deck, but sometimes it is.

What is everyone elses thought's on Great Shogun Shien and other six samurai cards?

I too run a Six Samurai deck. Great Shogun gives samurai's speed. Also, its just strong enough to destroy Monarchs. I doubt Samurais are too powerful. They don't have any more support, while other archetypes still do. Right now, DAD, Lightsworn, and Gladiator are more likely to be semi-limited or limited. JTNVinh 22:33, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
  • I agree with that assessment. Six Samurai decks are nice and speedy, but I don't think they have enough support for them to have Great Shogun Shien banned or even limited at any level. Maybe once we see some Hand of the Six Samurai running wild we'll be able to debate this a little more. Subcontinental86 02:28, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
    • There are more cards that need to be controlled before we even start considering this card... --Pizzaman 05:23, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

six sam is the new abused deck ever....

for me six sam control cards and recycle cards must be limited in the process...

that would really fix the game in a way new level...

that destroy the draw math in this deck might give respect to players a chance to have a more innovative perspective in deck format...

not just a single game plan...

great shogun shien six sam irou six sam yaichi six sam zanji six sam kamon grand master of six sam hand of six sam enishi, councellor of six sam spirit of six sam and all revival cards of all six sam

this format will really destroy six sam math for good and destroy abuse in card games for good,...

I don't think banned but limiting would be good because I feel that six samurai are some of the most broke cards in the game. My friend runs a deck of them and he'll consistently summon like zanji then grandmaster and then grandmaster on the first turn and sometimes marauding captain will be thrown in there too just for fun. It's also really hard to stop when you get one magic or trap each turn.Num1catholic 07:41, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

Shien is not a broken card it is fail and is the strongest card for a teir 2 deck, basicly this card is the only beater for 6sams. also is shiens banned or even limited then all copys of DAD should be torn, burned, leaked on then peaten by dogs, then the dog poop should be burned then the burnt poop should be fired in the the center of the sun...

shein is not a broken card and can be beat easy... hammer shot any1?

  • Well, Shien can protect himself like the other Samurai, so the destruction will carry to another Samurai if the Hammer drops on him. However... think Caius. --Gadjiltron 06:41, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
  • I dislike Six Samurai muchly, but even I find the argument that Shien is too good laughable. Also, any argument against a card being too good in the vein of "Card XX isn't broken, just use Card YY" is retarded. Danny Lilithborne 06:50, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

LIES! ALL LIES!

The Great Shogun Shien..

He is not broken one bit.. well maybe a tiny bit.. but cards like short circuit! are broken. anyway even thought you canswitch targets e.g hammer shot to an irou or sumtin.. wat if u play lightning vortex? =O.. or Mirror Force.. Easily Stopped.. Now b4 we start nerfing something like Samurais go nerf sumthin truely broken.. Gladiator Beasts.. Teamed with the power of Waboku being able to switch during the opponents turn and gaining their ef fects during the opponents turn is truely broken.

who's with me? <--- +5

'Member Vortex?

As more and more mass removal cards come about, I think we really don't need to focus too much on the six samurai. Enshi tends to get a little annoying though, but it is easily countered.

I think that 6 sams should be at least limited because they are some of the greatest swarmers in the game althougt cards like lightning vortex and grand convergance absolutley own them they are still fairly powerful cards and need to be stoped.aMarshall565 25/11/08 11:46

I shall forever cry

I am still in absolute sorrow.

Six Sami's died when ROTA and Reasoning got limited to 1. That pretty much killed the deck. There are all those new Six Sami cards out, like Gateway of the Six. Lets move away from Light and/ or Dark meta decks and bring back Warriors with ROTA and Reasoning.

Shogun I dont think needs to be banned or even limited, semi limited maybe but I would say Grandmaster should come before this guy since its harder to get rid of.

Reasoning and ROTA however have to stay where they are. They are way to powerful and can be used in too many decks. 68.40.90.212 10:19, May 21, 2010 (UTC)

Pff, you could bring out any 6 samurai monster, bring out a Grandmaster of the 6 Samurai, and pop in a Great Shogun Shien (Max 3) Limited status would be a better position for this card, because you couldn't potentially swarm the field in 1 turn. Unless you brought Mirror Force, bring in a high-ATK 6 samurai monster, the Grandmaster of the 6 Samurai and 3 Great Shogun Shien and you would literally win the duel in 2 turns. (2700*3)is game. (2700*2) + 2100 + >1000 is game. It busts the metagame.

Shien

Yeah Shien should totally be banned. Six Samurais have won hundreds of nationals, YCS, regionals. Seriously Shien is good but its not broken like Frog Ftk and Rescue Cat.--Airbellum (talkcontribs) 10:03, August 3, 2010 (UTC)

>should totally be banned
>good but its not broken
Hold it!! There is a clear contradiction here! Either that, or you've forgotten that cards that get hit by the banhammer are broken. Since Shien stands in the "good but not broken" category, there is no reason to ban him. Not to mention 6Sams have slid off the top of the meta, giving Konami no reason to ban it. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 11:22, August 3, 2010 (UTC)

The proof of why this card shouldn't be banned is simple: Six Samurai are not getting in the top 32 places in big tournaments. Therefore, Great Shogun Shien is not SO POWERFUL that it is changing the metagame. The only reason why cards are put on the Forbidden/Limited/Semi-Limited lists is because they make it easier for a person to win, and because people are abusing the cards to get in the top 8 of big tournaments. So far, Great Shogun Shien is not capable of that. Blackwings, X-Sabers, Machina Gadgets, Frog FTK, and Infernities are the things to worry about right now; they can CRUSH the Shogun easily; its effect means nothing to them, since they are winning tournaments. This doesn't mean that Great Shogun Shien is weak; no, it is just the current metagame that makes it weak, like a fish out of water. Maybe it will be put on the Forbidden/Limited/Semi-Limited lists in the future, when its potential isn't overshadowed by bigger, badder Decks...

They won't ban Great Shogun Shien because six sams need something with high attack. unless six sams start winning big tournamnents i can't see it being banned or even limited.--Melsarceus493 (talkcontribs) 10:54, August 8, 2010 (UTC)
