Hello folks, i have a few questions: 1- Let's say Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon attacks a monster and activates his effect, but the opponent chains Negate Attack and negates the attack. Does Galaxy-eyes' effect still resolve? Why? 2- If someone knows of this card's general rulings, Number 9: Sky Canopy Star - Dyson Sphere , it says that you can negate the attack the moment it is TARGETED for a battle while it has materials. Let's see the second effect: It has no materials and it has been targeted for an attack, you activate the effect to reattach Xyz materials to it. Can you immediately after that use the first effect which negates the attack? Why? Thank you for answering Imadmagician (talk • contribs) 14:16, May 17, 2012 (UTC) Imadmagician
- Your timing is completely off. One effect activates in the Battle Step, the other can only be activated at Attack Declaration. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 23:37, May 17, 2012 (UTC)
- Like Falzar said, GEPD need to punch the monster in the face in order to triggering his effect (not directly Trigger mind ya). "Negate Attack" just stopped the "punch" from successful smacking oppose monster, therefore not turn on the effect and banish both monsters. --iFredCat 23:39, May 17, 2012 (UTC)
and no on the second question.when you activate the second eff attack declaration's response window has passed.S4suk3g13 (talk • contribs) 00:42, May 18, 2012 (UTC)
Dyson Sphere vs Galaxy-Eyes
Can Number 9: Canopy Star - Dyson Sphere stop Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon's attack? 24.83.215.20 (talk) 23:02, June 8, 2012 (UTC)
Both effects activate during the Battle Step. This is how you build the Chain:
- Chain Link 1: Turn Player activates the effect of Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon and targets opponent's Dyson Sphere.
- Chain Link 2: Opponent activates the effect of Number 9: Canopy Star - Dyson Sphere to negate the attack.
Resolve the Chain in reverse:
- Chain Link 2: The effect of Dyson Sphere negates the attack.
- Chain Link 1: Both monsters are still banished due to this effect. HHT - (Talk to the Turtle) 05:48, June 9, 2012 (UTC)
- hmmm, thought so. the anime had me confused. 24.83.215.20 (talk) 06:25, June 9, 2012 (UTC)
One more time
So, you really can't activate Number 9: Canopy Star - Dyson Sphere's first effect after using its second effect, even if its first effect is a Compulsory Monster Effect? i mean, after using its second effect, it's still during the Battle Step. Or, is it actually skip right into Damage Step? 70.79.84.206 (talk) 15:44, July 17, 2012 (UTC)
Also, i understand that Abyss Rising is about to be released, along with Dyson Sphere's ruling, but i can't wait, even if it's so close. 70.79.84.206 (talk) 15:46, July 17, 2012 (UTC)
When Number 9: Canopy Star - Dyson Sphere without any Xyz Materials is targeted for an attack, you can activate its 2nd effect. Now that it has Xyz Materials, the 1st effect cannot be activated. It's because the attack target selection happens once for an attack. In that same attack, after it has Xyz Materials, it is not targeted for an attack again.
