The field: 1x Earthbound Immortal Uru (summoned by tributing Hardened Armed Dragon) 1x Hardened Armed Dragon 1x Mystic Tomato

Player:

1. Activates Hero Mask, Sending Elemental Hero Avian to the Graveyard to change the name of Earthbound Immortal Uru to Elemental Hero Avian.

2. Tributes Hardened Armed Dragon and Mystic Tomato to summon Earthbound Immortal Aslla piscu.

What happens after the End phase, when the name of Earthbound Immortal Uru changes back? Akyrix 22:58, October 31, 2009 (UTC)

My best guess would be that Earthbound Immortal Aslla Piscu would be destroyed, and its effect would activate, because Earthbound Immortal Uru cannot be destroyed by card effects, and Aslla Piscus' destruction, and therefore removal from the field, could be attributed to Earthbound Immortal Uru's (rather than Aslla Piscu's) card effect stating that only 1 Earthbound Immortal could be face-up on the field. • After seeing the rulings, what I concluded is this: since you will "obtain" 2 Earthbound Immortal monsters during the End Phase, you will have to select one to be destroyed. If that is Aslla piscu, its effect to destroy cards and inflict damage will be activated. Also, Uru does not state that he is immune to destruction by card effects, so he can be destroyed by them as per normal. I will also guess that there is an active Field Spell, otherwise you wouldn't be able to keep any Earthbound Immortal monsters on the field anyway. --Darth Covah (Talk | Contribs) 00:15, November 1, 2009 (UTC)
  • The one that used by Hardened Armed Dragon would be unobstructed anyways... Since it's being affected by Hardened's effect. FredCat100 00:18, November 1, 2009 (UTC)
  • ...right, totally overlooked that one. Kudos to you, FredCat100‏. --Darth Covah (Talk | Contribs) 00:20, November 1, 2009 (UTC)

They both were summoned by tributing 1 Hardened Armed Dragon and 1 other monster, both can't be destroyed, they stay there.

Unless the "There can only be 1 face-up "Earthbound Immortal" monster on the field." part is not an effect, then it will be destroyed. I'm not sure if it is an effect or a condition. Falzar FZ 00:28, November 1, 2009 (UTC)

The Highlander "effect" of "Earthbound Immortal" monsters is actually a Condition, not an effect. (Also, it doesn't activate.) See Card Rulings:Archfiend Zombie-Skull, and the ruling about "Gravekeeper's Chief". Likewise, "Hardened Armed Dragon" cannot stop it.
"Earthbound Immortal Uru" will be destroyed, since he is considered to be the last "Earthbound Immortal" to arrive on the field.
