Anime
In Yugi's first duel against Seto Kaiba, Yugi managed to assemble all five pieces of Exodia - a feat that no duelist had ever accomplished prior to that match. Its Obliterate attack destroyed all of Kaiba's Blue-Eyes White Dragon and reduced his Life Points to 0. In the Duelist Kingdom Special DVD Exodia was considered to have infinite ATK the real card has 1000 ATK.
A Rare Hunter also had three copies of this; by using "Graceful Charity" he drew all five pieces and defeated Joey.
He later dueled Yugi but when he ran out of defensive monsters he attempted to use one of the two "Exodia the Forbidden One" (they were called the "Head of Exodia" here, likely to avoid confusion) that he had in his hand as a defensive monster. But Yugi used "Chain Destruction" to destroy the other copies of "Exodia the Forbidden One" in his hand and deck, and then attacked with "Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast" and destroyed the "Exodia the Forbidden One" on the field. It was then discovered that the Rare Hunter's cards had been marked by an invisible ink that let him know what card he was about to draw (in the Japanese version, they were forgeries). Yugi then ripped the Exodia cards up.
