Errata are corrections to the text on a card, or in rare instances, corrections to a card's characteristics such as ATK or Attribute. It is not required to own the latest erratum of a card in order to play it, but they must always be played as if their text contained the newest erratum even if using an older copy of the card.

Errata make cards easier to understand. Konami recommends using the most recent printing of a card, because that text is the most accurate.[1]

It is customary to issue errata to the latest standard if the card is released in a new reprint set, or as a new promo (such as with the Champion Packs), but not if existing booster packs are reprinted (such as when Invasion of Chaos was reprinted and went to IOC-ENXXX).

There are many reasons why cards have errata:

  • Correcting misspellings.
