The "Element" cards are a series of LIGHT and DARK monsters that gain two additional effects (such as ATK boost, Effect negation, and double attack) when a certain Attribute is present on the field other than their own. They're all Level 4 monsters with 1500 ATK and 1200 DEF. Effects themselves are also generic:

FIRE provides a respectable 500 ATK boost (to 2000).
WATER prevents the monster from shifting to the opposing player.
WIND allows the monster to attack up to twice during the Battle Phase by first having destroyed another monster.
EARTH allows the monster to negate the effect of another monster it destroys.

No two "Element" monsters have the same combination of effects and they always depict the Attributes where they gain their effects in the background of the cards.

They were released throughout Soul of the Duelist, Rise of Destiny and Flaming Eternity.

Play Style

Because they benefit from the four elemental Attributes, they are all either LIGHT or DARK monsters, so they do not activate the Effects due to themselves. "Elemental Mistress Doriado", "Elemental Hero Electrum" and, to a lesser extent, "Homunculus the Alchemic Being" can easily activate all their effects when you need it. They all also fall under 5 heavily supported Types (Fiend, Dragon, Spellcaster, Dinosaur and Fairy), allowing them to be able to incorporated into other decks as support. Elemental Mistress Doriado is the key card of this deck as it supports all the Element monster and activate both of their effect. Element Dragon is the most powerful monster while Elemental Mistress Doriado is on the field as it will have 2000 attack points but can attack again if you destroyed a monster.

Because of their low ATK, they can often be searched by many searchers, such as "Mystic Tomato", "Shining Angel", and "Sangan". However, their effects are not game breaking, thus should be used to supplement another archetype, rather than try to win on their own. They also suffer from the fact that each only possess two out of the four possible effects, thus reducing each card's flexibility. The play style is not very competitive anymore but, a decent deck can be made from these using cards like scroll of bewitchment, elemental burst, masked dragon, and other cards of the like. There is also the possibility of using "DNA Transplant" if you would like to rely on one particular ability. "Scroll of Bewitchment" can be used to a player's advantage. A person using a deck built around these would also do well to use the charmers and possessed variations.
