The Earthbound Gods are evil incarnate entities, that were sealed in the Nazca Lines, by the Dragon Star. They serve as the antithesis to the Crimson Dragon and the Five Dragons. After a millennium of confinement, they were released when an Enerdy accident in the Satellite blew open a hole to the underworld. Each of them is based on a design in the Nazca Lines.
Each of the Dark Signers have striped robes bearing the color of their corresponding Earthbound God. Each of the Earthbound Gods represent a creature or figure in the Nazca Lines, the spider, the hummingbird, the giant, a monkey and the lizard. Rudger owns the spider, Kyosuke Kiryu has the giant, Demak posseses the monkey, Misty owns the lizard, and Carly Nagisa owns the hummingbird.
The only Earthbound Gods currently named are "Earthbound God - Ccapac Apu", which Kyosuke Kiryu used against Yusei Fudo, "Earthbound God - Ccalaiya", which Misty used against Akiza, and the Earthbound God of the Hummingbird, which is used by Dark Signer Carly against Divine/ Divine Character.
The Earthbound Gods are known to to be nearly unbeatable since their effects negate any chance of a counter attack by a duelist. These effects are tied up in the use of any Field Spell Card and will disappear once the field is taken out of play. This is a major weakness but no one has taken advantage of it. The field problem is a major issue in a Turbo Duel since it can never be destroyed until the duel ends. Kyosuke's card, Earthbound God - Ccapac Apu, for example, is unaffected by all Spell and Trap cards, but can be stopped by Monster Effects (Althrough the immunity to Spells and Traps was removed in the OCG).
