The Dueling Arena is a type of dueling device developed by KaibaCorp, which consists of two modified podiums for each player to use over the course of the Duelist Kingdom tournament. Each podium has a play field that can project giant holographic images of the cards the player activates or summons. Some arenas also contained properties of specific type(s) of land masses that could change a monster's ATK and DEF depending on what terrain was favored by what monster (see Field Power Bonus). According to Kaiba's schematics of Duelist Kingdom, there are ten Dueling Arenas spread throughout the island, including within Pegasus' Castle. Certain variants of the Duel Arenas were also seen in the KaibaCorp building, KaibaLand and in Duke Devlin's gameshop.
KaibaCorp also has their later product known as the Duel Disks, which the duelist could plug into the arenas with a retractable cable using the Arena's holographic display instead of the Duel Disk's.
In the manga, a different device is used in Duelist Kingdom called a Battle Box. It was a smaller and more realistic in terms of real-world technology version of the Dueling Arenas. These devices were invented by Kaiba Corp. and would later be replaced by another of their inventions in Battle City, the Duel Disk.
Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie: Pyramid of Light[]
In Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie: Pyramid of Light, Kaiba travels to Duelist Kingdom to ask Pegasus for a card that could defeat the Egyptian God Monsters. Pegasus agrees to give Kaiba a card that can help if Kaiba defeats him in a duel. They duel in a Dueling Arena located within Pegasus' mansion.
Yu-Gi-Oh! GX[]
In episode 71 of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, Alexis Rhodes takes Jaden Yuki and a few of his friends through a museum containing "legendary Dueling artefacts", among which can be seen a podium and hologram projector from an Arena at Duelist Kingdom, as well as podiums identical to those from the Arenas at KaibaCorp headquarters and KaibaLand.
In episode 170 and episode 171, Jaden and Sartorius Duel against each other while standing on the field of the old Dueling Arena in KaibaCorp headquarters (albeit with their Duel Disks, and not with the technology of the Arena itself).
Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's[]
Only a few arenas exist by the time of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. Bashford possesses one which he built himself just so that he could Duel against his son Koki. And has also kept it functioning in the hope that his son would return one day. However one of them was later completely destroyed after the Duel between him and Crow Hogan ended.
