- In Norse mythology, Týr is the god of single combat, victory and heroic glory, portrayed as a one-handed man.
- This card shares its name with "Tyr, the Vanquishing Warlord".
- In the mythology, Týr's right hand was bitten away by Fenrir. That must be why his right hand is covered.
