- In bullfighting, the picador is a horseman who enters the arena first to stab the bull in the back of its neck. This weakens the bull in preparation for the banderilleros and the matador. The picador's role is reflected in this card's effect, since a direct attack can be seen as a "first blood" maneuver, as well as its appearance in the anime, being the first bullfighter Fiend to be summoned.
- This card's artwork is a little similar to Archfiend Cavalry. The only difference is that Picador Fiend has the wings and skull on its shoulders, while Archfiend Cavalry doesn't.
