- Black Corn is made from various corn seed hybrids mixed with sticky rice in China (F1 Hybrid). It's called Hēi Zhēn Zhū (黑珍珠) which is translated as "Black Pearl".
- This card's hull, the underside of the ship, resembles a corn husk, hence the name "Black Corn".
- The name may also be a reference to the Black Pearl from the Pirates of the Caribbean film series.
- This card's Number may refer to the fact that this card is the second Number that Yuma wins in the manga and that this card's Number is twice the value of the ATK of Yuma's Number card "Utopia".
- A bit of a stretch, but its Number may partially come from the gō at the end of its Japanese name, sounding like go, Japanese for 5.
- This cards Number refers to it being the fifth manga Number card to make a debut, the first four being, "Number 17: Leviathan Dragon", "Number 39: Utopia", "Number 10: Illumiknight" and "Number 20: Giga-Brilliant".
- A bit of a stretch, but its Number may partially come from the gō at the end of its Japanese name, sounding like go, Japanese for 5.
- This card is the first "Number" to be revealed only in the manga version of Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL.
- Second being "Number 91: Thunder Spark Dragon" and third being "Number 22: Fran Ken".
- The number 50 can be seen on the right side of the center sail of this card.
- In the anime, "Number 34: Terror-Byte" was the third "Number" Yuma obtains. However, this is the third "Number" he obtains in the manga.
- This is the third Number card Yuma used but in the manga series, in the anime series that was "Number 96: Dark Mist" (which he was forced to do because of "Dark Mist" manipulating Yuma for the former's duel against Bronk Stone).
- This card's effect is similar to "Exploder Dragonwing", except the latter is required to battle in order to activate its effect.
