- This card is based on the Greek goddess Amphitrite, the wife of Poseidon. Her lower dolphin half is a reference to one myth of the creature's origins; Poseidon had created the dolphin as a gift to Amphitrite to soothe her anger over his indiscretions.
- This card is the female counterpart of "Mermail Abyssgaios".
- This card has a counterpart, "Mermail Abyssalacia", who appears to be a human version of this card. The connection is further enforced by the fact that Amphitrite's Roman counterpart was the goddess Salacia, wife of Neptune (the Roman counterpart of Poseidon).
