* When this monster first released in The Duelist Genesis, it was considered the best level 6 Synchro Monster (the other one available at that time being "Gaia Knight, the Force of Earth", and "Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier" in the OCG who only came in late 2009 in the TCG), because it was easy to Summon in relatively any deck, and its effect was really powerful. As such, it became one the most played Extra Deck monsters and got limited in March 2009 (both in TCG and OCG). Still being considered one of the best Level 6 Synchro monsters along with "Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier", it eventually got forbidden in March 2011 (in both formats), and stayed so for a long time. Eventually, as time passed and the Metagame progressed, in the TCG, "Goyo Guardian" went back to Limited in July 2014. Then, probably because it didn't had much impact as it had back then, it returned to Semi-Limited in January 2015, and to Unlimited in April 2015. However, for all this time, in the OCG, it was still Forbidden although it was being considered "not as good as before" by the community. Still, it eventually got an Errata in the OCG 20th Anniversary Pack 2nd Wave and got back to Limited in January 2017, Semi-Limited in April 2017, and finally Unlimited in July 2017.

* In the TCG this card is the only card to receive a major mechanical changing errata while unlimited.

Revision as of 16:07, 29 October 2018

 • This monster is holding the same weapon that "Jutte Fighter" wields, a Jutte. This may reference to this card's debut in the anime in which Tetsu Trudge first Summoned it by tuning one of his "Gate Blockers" with "Jutte Fighter".
 • The kanji behind this monster, 御用 (Goyou), means "imperial use" or "patronage".
