- In Norse mythology, Gjallarhorn is a horn associated with the god Heimdallr and the wise being Mímir. During Ragnarök, after the enemies of the gods will gather at the plain Vígríðr, Heimdallr will stand and mightily blow into Gjallarhorn. The gods will awake and assemble together at the thing.
- Presumably, Heimdallr is meant to be the man in this card's artwork.
- Heimdallr once uses the horn to drink from Mímir's well of wisdom and intelligence, Mímisbrunnr and thus he himself becomes very wise.
- Gjallarhorn is stated to signal Ragnarök, a catastrophic event in which most gods and beings are meant to perished in the final batlle. This card's effect is a reference to that as it results in all of the user's monsters being banished.
