This monster and "Five-Headed Dragon" are respectively based on Bahamut and Tiamat (the gods of good and evil dragons respectively) from Dungeons and Dragons.

"Dragon Master Knight" is tied with "Superdimensional Robot Galaxy Destroyer" for the highest-ATK LIGHT monster in the game.

In certain episodes of the series, as well as in a few of the video games (such as Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Duel Academy), this card is called "Master of Dragon Soldier".

This card represents the ultimate bond between Yami Yugi and Seto Kaiba.
