Ironically, despite the entire "Dark Magician" archetype being renamed in TCG to avoid reference to Black Magic, this card retains this term in its name.

One of the ceremonial rods in the artwork of this card (or possibly "Curse of Fiend" instead) appears in the artworks of "Fusion Recycling Plant" and "Twister".

Four duplicates of the top-right area of "Dark Magical Circle" appear in this card's artwork, forming a complete circle.

In the anime and video games, this card is referred to as "Dark Magic Ritual".

This card's artwork served as the basis for the Japanese anime artwork of "Dark Dragon Ritual".

This was one of only a few cards not to have a passcode until its release in Legendary Collection 3: Yugi's World Mega Pack.
When this card was released in Premium Pack 1 (TCG), there were several misprints of the card with the text "Marshmallon" replacing "Black Magic Ritual". "Marshmallon" was the next card in the list.
