- Use "Upstart Goblin" as Deck thinning in a Deck that doesn't rely on lowering your opponents Life Points, such as an Exodia Deck, a Mill Deck or a "Final Countdown" Deck.
- It also works well with "Bad Reaction to Simochi" or "Nurse Reficule the Fallen One".
- This card works well with "Life Equalizer" for an OTK and "Self-Destruct Button" for a Draw.
- This card works well with "Megamorph".
- This card can combo nicely with "Asleep at the Switch".
