- This card can also be Fusion Summoned with "Fusion Gate", "Fusion Substitute", "Flash Fusion", "Super Polymerization", "Ultra Polymerization", "Curse of Dragonfire", "Performapal Trump Girl", "Performapal Trump Witch", "Performapal Splashmammoth", "Performapal U Go Golem", "Predaplant Chlamydosundew", "Dragon's Mirror", "Odd-Eyes Fusion", "D-Fusion", and "Predaplanet".
- Using "Ultra Polymerization" will cause you to permanetly lose your Fusion Material. This is because Konami ruled that it has to Special Summon monsters that still match the listed Fusion Materials, and "2 DARK monsters on the field" logically cannot be in the Graveyard.
- This card's first two effects combo well with "Action Magic - Full Turn", especially if you targeted a monster whose effects focus on changing ATK or DEF and/or inflicting piercing damage("Borrelsword Dragon", "Chaos Ancient Gear Giant", etc).
- "Predaplant Chlamydosundew" can be used to allow this card to be Fusion Summoned by using an opponent's monster with a Predator Counter.
- Since DARK is an extremely popular attribute among monsters, this is one of the easiest cards to summon with "Super Polymerization".
- Use "Witch of the Black Forest" and "Sangan" to Fusion Summon this card instead of "Sanwitch". Not only will you have gained a powerful DARK Monster, but you will have added two new monsters from your Deck to your hand.
- In an Exodia Deck, Fusion Summon them on your turn with another card, adding two "Forbidden One" cards to your hand.
- You can also Fusion Summon this card with one of those monsters , by using "Summoner Monk's" effect to summon "Witch of the Black Forest" or "Tour Guide From the Underworld" to summon "Sangan".
- Appropriately, this card is particularly useful against "Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon", as it can copy that monster's effect and possibly cause an OTK, which can be backed up if "Starving Venom" was Fusion Summoned on this turn, allowing it to gain a opponent monster's ATK.
- You can use "Shien's Spy" to give "Odd-Eyes" to your opponent, and beat 5600 damage into your opponent.
- After Fusion Summoning this card, destroy it with "Destruct Potion", and use "Starving Venom's" effect to destroy your opponent's Special Summoned monsters, with the added benefit of gaining at least 2800 LP.
- This card is highly splashable in DARK Decks, such as the following:
- Ally of Justice
- Archfiend
- Cannot be Summoned if "Archfiend Emperor, the First Lord of Horror" is on the field.
- Blackwing
- Burning Abyss
- Using this card will cause most "Burning Abyss" monster to destroy themselves.
- Dark Magician
- Dark World
- Destiny HERO
- Lunalight
- Raidraptor
- Predaplant
- Pendulum Magician
- Red-Eyes
- Rokket
- The Phantom Knights
- Shaddoll
- Virus Control Deck
- Zombie Decks
- Cards like "Rescue Rabbit", "DNA Transplant", "Evil Thorn", "Summoner Monk", "Tour Guide From the Underworld" and "Kagetokage" can be used to fulfill this card's Fusion Summon requirement.
- By Summoning either "Grinder Golem" or "Lava Golem" on an earlier turn, this monster's ATK can be boosted by 3000.
- You can use the effect of "Darklon" to make all your monsters become eligible Fusion Materials for this card.
- In a Zombie World Deck, this card can be Special Summoned using "Destiny HERO - Disk Commander" and a wide variety of monsters--mostly yours, since a great deal of Zombie monsters are DARK.
Traditional Format
- "Makyura the Destructor" is an excellent Fusion Material for this card, since it enables Trap cards to be activated from the hand for the turn.
- Special Summon "Level Eater" by decreasing a DARK monster's Level, and use both monsters to summon this card.
- If this Fusion Summoned card is destroyed by the Flip effect of "Cyber Jar", this card's effect can be used to destroy the opponent's new monsters.
- In a Dragon Deck, select this card when you activate "Last Turn". If it is destroyed, your opponent's Special Summoned Monsters will be destroyed along with it. "Keeper of the Shrine's" effect can be chained to this card's, leaving you as the sole player controlling Monsters.
