  • If you wish to transfer control of this card quickly so it can start burning your opponent, use cards like "Oni-Gami Combo" and "Dimensionhole" to detach its Xyz Material, then give this card to your opponent via cards like "Creature Swap" and "Mystic Box".
    • A good combo is with "Bahamut Shark", which can immediately Summon this card with no Xyz Material.
    • After switching the control to your opponent, a good follow up would be chaining "Curse of the Circle", that way your opponent won't be able to use it for a tribute summon or tribute it to activate card effects, restricting any strategies your opponent might have to get rid of it. "Mask of Restrict" is also a good choice to prevent "Acid Golem" from being tributed, but be aware you won't be able to tribute.
  • Use "Prime Material Dragon" or "Rainbow Life" to gain Life Points instead.
    • "Prime Material Dragon" is especially useful as it has a fair amount of ATK as well, not to mention that its effect lasts as long as it is on the field, allowing you to have two beatsticks while gaining 2000 Life Points every turn, AND "Prime Material Dragon"'s second effect grants you a decent amount of protection for itself and "Acid Golem".
    • Or use "Black-Winged Dragon" to absorb the damage and convert it into Black Feather Counters to weaken and deal damage to your opponent during every turn.
    • Or use "Mystik Wok" once this card has run out of Xyz Materials to gain a quick boost of 3000 Life Points.
  • "Barrel Behind the Door" can be used to redirect this card's effect damage to your opponent.
  • Since you are already unable to Special Summon because of this card, there's no big deal of activating cards that will stop you from Special Summoning like "Pot of Duality", "Cards from the Sky", etc. of course (except during the turn this card is Summoned).
  • If your opponent controls an Xyz Monster, "Overlay Eater" can be used to prolong this card's usefulness.
  • Even though you can't Special Summon with this card on the field, there are still plenty of cards that can be used to destroy, banish, or tribute "Acid Golem" for an advantage once it burns through its Xyz Materials.
    • A good monster that can be Summoned by tributing this card is "Great Maju Garzett", avoiding the 2000 damage penalty and surprising your opponent with a 6000 ATK monster.
  • Instead of detaching Xyz Material, take damage so that this card can still attack and combo with cards that depend on you having low Life Points, like "Megamorph".
  • Consider this card as fodder for "Evil HERO Dark Gaia".
    • It helps that this card doesn't take up space in your Main Deck like an otherwise-unusable "Valkyrion the Magna Warrior", even though it has 500 less ATK.
    • This can only be done while this card's effect is being negated, such as by "Axe of Fools", as it prevents Special Summons.
  • Equip this card with "Big Bang Shot", so it will inflict piercing damage, while gaining 400 ATK.
    • And when "Acid Golem" has no Xyz Materials, simply destroy "Big Bang Shot" to banish it.
  • A useful way to use this card's ATK power would be to equip it with "Stoic Challenge," giving it a minimum of 3600 ATK and destroying it, before its negative effects kick in.
