- This card works well with "Degenerate Circuit" for mass monster removal. (This may be a bad idea, however, if you are using the other "Mist Valley" monsters.)
- Use "De-Synchro" with this card to possibly return 6 cards your opponent controls to their hand.
- This card is useful in "Crashbug" Deck.
Synchro Summoning
- If you use "Zombie Master", "Beast of the Pharaoh" and "Plaguespreader Zombie" for the Synchro Summon of this card, you can return 3 cards to your opponent's hand, revive a Zombie (in this case choose "Zombie Master"), and use the effect of Zombie Master to to revive "Plaguespreader Zombie" and Synchro Summon again for a Level 6 monster, or revive another Zombie for extra damage, potentially enough to win the Duel.
- This can can be easily Synchro Summoned by using "Blackwing - Blizzard the Far North" to Special Summon "Blackwing - Kalut the Moon Shadow", then Special Summon "Blackwing - Bora the Spear".
- You can also Normal Summon "Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame", Special Summon "Bora" from your hand (you can use "Black Whirlwind" to do this), attack something with "Shura", and then Special Summon "Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor", whose effect will be negated, so you can Synchro Summon this card.
- This card can be easily Summoned by use of "Alien Ammonite", as the requirements for the Summoning of "Mist Wurm" will be met if "Ammonite" is Normal Summoned while there is another monster(s) of Level 4 on the field and a Level 4 "Alien" in the GY.
- After summoning "Superancient Deepsea King Coelacanth", use its effect to Summon 2 "Royal Swamp Eels", 1 "Oyster Meister" and 1 Level 4 Fish monster from your Deck. Synchro using "Oyster Meister" and "Royal Swamp Eel" to make "X-Saber Urbellum", then use the "Oyster Token" and the 2 remaining Fish to Synchro Summon "Mist Wurm". After returning 3 cards to your opponents hand, you have a better chance at making a direct attack with all 3 monsters for 7500 total combined damage, and possibly also triggering the effect of "Urbellum".
- This can turn into an OTK by replacing "Urbellum" with "Power Tool Dragon" and then searching out an Equip Spell that will increase the ATK of "Power Tool Dragon" by at least 500, making the total damage inflicted by "Mist Wurm", "Coelacanth" and "Power Tool Dragon" equal to at least 8000 combined.
- This is an OTK if "Urbellum" is replaced with "Scrap Archfiend".
- This card works well with cards that discard from the hand, particularly ones that require either a minimum amount of cards in the opponents hand, or that you name a card in their hand. Examples include: "Trap Dustshoot", "Mind Crush", "X-Saber Urbellum", "Goe Goe the Gallant Ninja", "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" etc.
- This card can be easily Summoned in a "Lightsworn" Deck: Summon "Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner", discard "Plaguespreader Zombie" to Special Summon "Wulf, Lightsworn Beast", then top a card for "Plaguespreader" and you will have the material for this card.
- This card can be easily Summoned with "Infernity Beetle", "Infernity Necromancer" and "Infernity Archfiend" in an "Infernity" Deck. Then, by activating "Infernity Launcher", Special Summon "Necromancer" and "Archfiend", which allows you to add another "Launcher" to your hand. Activate "Launcher" to empty your hand and use the effect of "Necromancer" to Summon "Beetle" from your GY. Summon a second copy of this card. Repeat the cycle to Summon a third copy of this card. Then, with the last copy of "Launcher", Special Summon "Archfiend" and "Beetle" and Synchro for "Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier" and discard the last card you added to your hand with "Archfiend" to totally clear your opponent's field. Then you can attack for an OTK.
- In an "Infernity" Deck, use the effect of "Infernity Mirage" or "Infernity Launcher" to Special Summon 1 "Infernity Beetle" and 1 "Infernity Necromancer". Use the effect of "Necromancer" to then Special Summon "Infernity Archfiend" from your GY and Synchro Summon this Card.
- Note that this combo, known as the "Infernity Death Circle", is no longer possible with the September 2010 limiting of "Infernity Launcher".
- In a Disaster Dragon Deck, you can play "Future Fusion", ditching 2 "Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragons", and 2 "Red-Eyes Wyverns", and any other Dragon you wish. At the end of the turn, Special Summon both "Darkness Metal Dragons", and use their abilities to Special Summon the appropriate Dragons for this card. Example : Another "Red-Eyes Wyvern", "Troop Dragon" and "Delta Flyer".
- Use "Urgent Tuning" during the Battle Phase after your monsters have finished attacking to have this card's effect activate and be able to attack.
- In a "Cyberdark" Deck, Normal Summon "Cyberdark Horn", "Cyberdark Keel" or "Cyberdark Edge" and equip it with "Dragunity Phalanx" while you have a Level 3 monster on your field.
- One option would be using "Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon" to Special Summon the Level 3 Dragon monster.
- In a "Dragunity" Deck, with "Dragunity Phalanx" and "Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite" in your GY, Normal Summon "Dragunity Legionnaire" and equip "Phalanx" to it. Have "Phalanx" Special Summon itself then return a Spell/Trap to Special Summon "Zephyrus" from the GY.
- Use the effect of "Dragon Ravine" to send "Phalanx" and "Zephyrus" to the GY by discarding "Zephyrus" and Sending "Phalanx" to the GY.
- In a "T.G." Deck, Normal Summon "Junk Synchron", Special Summon "T.G. Striker", then Special Summon 2 "T.G. Werewolfs" form the hand.
- This card can be easily Synchro Summmoned by using 2 "T.G. Warwolfs" and "Genex Ally Birdman": First, Normal Summon "Warwolf", then Special Summon "Birdman" by it own effect, Special Summon the first "Warwolf" by it own effect, and then Special Summon the second "Warwolf" from your hand, then Synchro Summon for this card.
- In a Fish Synchro Deck, use the effect the of "Superancient Deepsea King Coelacanth" to Special Summon 1 "Royal Swamp Eel", 2 Level 2 monster, 1 Level 3 or Level 4 monster and 1 Level 1 monster to the field to Synchro Summon this card.
- ("Oyster Meister" or "Ocean's Keeper") + ("Piranha Army" or "Nimble Sunfish"), ("Metabo-Shark" or "Unshaven Angler") + ("Deepsea Macrotrema") are examples for this combination.
- In a "Gravekeeper's" Deck, use "Gravekeeper's Spy" to Special Summon a Level 4 "Gravekeeper's" monster from your Deck. Then Normal Summon a Level 1 Tuner (preferably an "Effect Veiler") to Synchro Summon this card.
- In a "Nordic" Deck, use the 2 Level 3 Tokens Special Summoned by the effect of "Tanngrisnir of the Nordic Beasts" and a *Level 3 (*see below) "Vanadis of the Nordic Ascendant" to Synchro Summon this card.
- Using the wffect of "Vanadis of the Nordic Ascendant", its Level will become 3 by sending a Level 3 "Tanngrisnir" or "Tanngnjostr of the Nordic Beasts" from your Deck to your GY.
- Using a different method, "Mara of the Nordic Alfar" can send "Garmr of the Nordic Beasts", "Ljosalf of the Nordic Alfar" or "Tyr of the Nordic Champions" and "Tanngrisnir of the Nordic Beasts" or "Tanngnjostr of the Nordic Beasts" from your hand to your GY to Synchro Summon this card.
- In a Plant Synchro Deck, send "Dandylion" to the GY with "Hand Destruction" or "Foolish Burial" and Special Summon 2 "Fluff Tokens". Normal Summon "Debris Dragon" and Special Summon "Dandylion" from your GY to Synchro Summon this card. "Dandylion" will then Special Summon 2 more "Fluff Tokens".
- You can Activate "Synchro Strike" to increase its ATK by 2000 Since it was Synchro Summoned using 4 Synchro Material.
- In a Synchro Summon Deck, while you have a "Quillbolt Hedgehog" in your GY, you can Special Summon "The Tricky" by discarding "The Fabled Cerburrel", Special Summoning it and "Quillbolt" to Synchro Summon this card.
- Using a different method, while "Tuningware" is in your GY, you can Special Summon "Cyber Dragon", then Normal Summon "Junk Synchron" and Special Summon "Tuningware" from your GY using its effect to Synchro Summon this card and draw 1 card.
- In a WATER Deck, use "Water Hazard" to Special Summon a Level 4 WATER monster from your hand. Normal Summon "Deep Sea Diva" and Special Summon a Level 3 Sea Serpent monster from your Deck using its effect to Synchro Summon this card.
- Alternatively, you could Special Summon "Aqua Spirit"/"Fenrir", followed by the above combination with "Diva".
- In a Fairy/"The Agent" Deck, Special Summon "The Agent of Creation - Venus" with "Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen"/"Celestial Transformation"/"Photon Lead", then Special Summon 2 "Mystical Shine Balls". Normal Summon "The Agent of Mystery - Earth" and its effect will activate to add "Master Hyperion" to your hand if "The Sanctuary in the Sky" is on the field, then Synchro Summon this card and activate its effect and Special Summon "Master Hyperion" to destroy up to 2 cards on the field. Now you have 2 powerful monsters.
- In a "Six Samurai" Deck, Normal Summon "Legendary Six Samurai - Kageki", use its effect to Special Summon "Kagemusha of the Six Samurai", then Special Summon "Legendary Six Samurai - Kizan" by its own effect, then Synchro Summon.
- In a "Moja" Deck, Normal Summon "Kinka-byo" and use its effect to Summon "Moja". Tribute "Moja" to Special Summon "King of the Beasts", then activate the effect of "Glow-Up Bulb" in the GY or use "One for One" to Summon a Level 1 Tuner.
- In a "Mist Valley" Deck, while "Divine Wind of Mist Valley" is on the field, you Normal Summon "Mist Valley Thunderbird". Return "Thunderbird" to the hand to Special Summon "Genex Ally Birdman". The "Thunderbird" you just returned is now Special Summoned, along with another "Thunderbird" from your Deck with the effect of "Divine Wind".
- Similarly, while "Divine Wind" is on the field, you Normal Summon "Thunderbird". Return "Thunderbird" to the hand to Special Summon "Mist Condor". The "Thunderbird" you just returned is now Special Summoned by its own effect, along with a Level 2 WIND Tuner, like "Mist Valley Baby Roc" from your Deck with the effect of "Divine Wind".
- In a "Geargia" Deck, Flip Summon "Geargiarmor" to add "Geargiaccelerator" from your Deck to your hand. Special Summon "Geargiaccelerator" from your hand by its own effect in face-up Defense Position. Normal Summon "Effect Veiler", then Synchro Summon this card.
Traditional Format
For Synchro Summoning
- You can use the effect of "Summoner Monk" to Special Summon "Rescue Cat", and then you can Tribute that "Rescue Cat" for 1 "X-Saber Airbellum" and any Level 2 Beast monster (such as "Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter" or "Sea Koala") to Synchro the three monsters ("Summoner Monk", "Airbellum" and the Level 2 Beast monster) together for "Mist Wurm".
- In a "Frog" Deck, this card can be Synchro Summoned 3 at a time using the effect of "Substitoad" and "Fishborg Blaster":
- By controlling a "Substitoad" while a "Ronintoadin" and "Fishborg Blaster" are in your GY, Special Summon "Ronintoadin" and "Blaster" using their effects (preferably discarding a "Frog" monster for "Blaster") and Tribute "Ronintoadin" to Special Summon "Des Frog" from your Deck using the effect of "Substitoad". Special Summon "Ronintoadin" again and Tribute it again to Special Summon a "Beelze Frog" from your Deck using the effect of "Substitoad" to Synchro Summon this card using "Blaster", "Beelze Frog" and "Des Frog". Tribute "Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier" for the effect of "Substitoad" and repeat the process.
- This combination can be restarted by using "Pot of Avarice", "Burial from a Different Dimension" and "Moray of Greed".
- Combine this card with "De-Synchro", allowing you to Summon "Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier" on the same turn, after you've selected troublesome cards from the field that you'd like to try and banish from the hand.
