Use this card's effect to Special Summon "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" and use its effect to banish it and an opponent's monster. When it returns to the field its ATK and DEF will return to normal.

You can also Xyz Summon this card by using "Rank-Up-Magic Astral Force" on "Number 91: Thunder Spark Dragon".
- Additionally, you can use "Rank-Up-Magic Astral Force" on this card to summon "Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon", "Number 62: Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon", "Number 46: Dragluon", "Number 107: Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon", "Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis" or "Thunder End Dragon".

Summon this card, then detach 1 Xyz Material to Special Summon "Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon" from the Deck. Then, Xyz Summon "Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger" by overlaying this card into it, then use "Oni-Gami Combo" to detach Atum and subsequently revive it with the effect of "Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon". Use it to Xyz Summon another "Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger" to have a total of 3 Piercing attacks of 2600 ATK each.
Combo with "Omni Dragon Brotaur" to search for anything you like including "Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon" by targeting itself to then use it to summon REDMD by banishing it, allowing you to have Darkness Metal with it's full attack, instead of straight Summoning the Red-Eyes and have it at 0 Atk and 0 Def.

in a Red-Eyes Deck, use "Meteor Dragon Red-Eyes Impact" as Material to detach it and Special Summon "Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon", which then can be used to Summon "Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon". And because there is a "Red-Eyes Normal Monster" in the graveyard, "Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon" can detach a "Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon" from it and summon it again. This process can repeated if another Level 7 can be summoned on the field. After this card is of no use any more, it can be overlayed with "Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger" or similar cards.

Chain "Inferno Reckless Summon" when the Dragon-Type is Special Summoned from the Deck to get 2 more copies of that monster with their original ATK and DEF retained.

A convenient Special Summon is "Clear Vice Dragon", since its ATK is already 0, and has a good effect.

This is one of the few cards able to summon Soul Drain Dragon albeit with its attack at zero.

Some other good effect monsters that this card summon are "Hardened Armed Dragon", "Prime Material Dragon", "Golem Dragon", "Darkflare Dragon" and "Darkstorm Dragon".

This card, together with "Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit", "Hieratic Dragon of Su" and "Wattaildragon" can be splashed easily in Disaster Dragon decks for improving its searching abilities greatly.
- Unlike Hieratic OTK-style decks, Atum can be utilized more efficiently due to Disaster Dragon decks have more targets that can benefit from it; "Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon", "Masked Dragon", "Exploder Dragon", "Delta Flyer", "Divine Dragon Apocralyph", "Totem Dragon" and sometimes even "Koa'ki Meiru Drago" for securing the final push. Note that all of those targets are used either of its effects, or for Synchro Summoning materials.
- "Masked Dragon" can also be used for searching "Hieratic Seal of the Dragon King", which can offers alternative option for Summoning Atum quickly (aside from "Hieratic Seal of Convocation").
- "Hieratic Seal of the Dragon King" (while in Graveyard) also provide targets for the 2nd effect of "Hieratic Dragon of Gebeb" (which is also found commonly in recent Disaster Dragon decks), giving it more utility value for Xyz Summoning (aside from Summoning "Queen Dragun Djinn" or "Kachi Kochi Dragon").
