- Set this card on the field, then use Book of Moon to keep the card on the field, then each turn you can pay half of your life points to "nuke" the field and have this card to increase the ATK.
- You can use Burial from a Different Dimension to bring back 3 monsters removed from play to your graveyard, and use Monster Reincarnation to bring them to your hand.
- This card can be searched via Sangan and Witch of the Black Forest.
- This card can be Tribute Summoned with one tribute using "Double Coston" or "Totem Dragon", which will allow you to keep one extra monster on the field.
- Before "Gandora the Dragon of Destruction" is destroyed by its effect, use "Metamorphosis" to summon "Cyber Twin Dragon" or even better "Dark Paladin" as this will increase his own effect.
- Using a DNA Surgery combo in conjunction with Telekinetic Charging Cell, the cost for Gandora's effect can be nullified, thus reduced to zero, albeit for only one turn due to the nature of his effect.
- You can easily Tribute Summon this card with "Fires of Doomsday" or "Stray Lambs" and Tribute Set it.
- This card can be used with "Crush Card Virus" to great effect.
- "Deck Devastation Virus" and "Eradicator Epidemic Virus" could also potentially use this card, depending on the number of cards destroyed and removed from play for its effect; however, since this card eliminates all other cards on the field prior to gaining attack, these traps would need to be set afterwards, and since this card is destroyed at the end of the turn these traps would become useless, unless you play "Cathedral of Nobles" (Traditional Format only) during Main Phase 2 or sent a "Makyura the Destructor (Traditional Format only) to your Graveyard before using Gandora's effect.
- "Mausoleum of the Emperor" is great with this card as it allows you to keep two extra monsters you have as fodder.
- This card works fairly well with a Deck based on removing things from play, also know as a Macro Deck. This is because you can use Macro's "D.D. Survivor" and "D.D. Scout Plane" as Tribute fodder, and because this card's field nuke attack removes cards from play when it destroys them.
- This card can be deadly with/against a Crystal Beast Deck.
- You can use Dimensionhole to keep this card on the field since it will remove it from play on the turn Gandora was summoned, meaning that the turn's End Phase that it would have been "sent to the Graveyard" has been legally skipped and Gandora will be able to stay as long as you want. However, Gandora's attack will return to 0 during the next Standby Phase when it returns to the field, but it can accumulate ATK later on. For this reason, you might not want to use it's effect during the turn it is summoned, instead remove it and use it when it comes back.
- Use Herald of Creation to return this Dragon to your hand.
- This card is a prime target for Dark Eruption and Recurring Nightmare.
- You can use this card's effect to summon Theinen the Great Sphinx, but be wary of your life points.
- In a Dinosaur deck, this card works well when used in conjunction with Tyranno Infinity.
- Summon "Phantom of Chaos" and remove this card in your Graveyard from play then clear the field.
- Chain "Nightmare Archfiends" or "Ojama Trio" to the summon of this card to inflict even more damage than just your direct attack.
- Before it gets destroyed by its effect, you can Tribute this card for "Advance Draw", "Mystik Wok" or other cards like them.
- This card can work good in Macro decks. Use Return From the Different Dimension to bring back creatures like D.D. Scout Plane and D.D. Survivor, then use Gandora's effect to destroy everything on the field and gain a bigger ATK bonus. Then at the end of the turn, Survivor and Scout Plan will come back.
- This cards effect can trigger your own Starlight Road however the life point cost may be very unattractive.
- Use this card with Future Visions to dodge the self-destruct effect, because he isn't summoned again by the effect of Future Visions
- In a Dragon Deck, you can tribute summon this card to remove from play all monsters on your opponent's field, then remove it from play for Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon and attack directly. Then use Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon's effect to special summon another dragon for two direct hits.
- When your opponent attacks this face-down card, you can activate Waboku or Fake Explosion to keep it on the field.
- You can't use Hardened Armed Dragon as a tribute to prevent this card from being destroyed by it's own effect
