- This card can be searched by "Aratama".
- "Treeborn Frog" or "Mausoleum of the Emperor" can be used to Tribute Summon this card each turn.
- "Call of the Mummy" can help provide a constant flow of monsters to tribute for "Dark Dust Spirit". "Dark Dust Spirit" is also a zombie, and "Call of the Haunted" is a common staple in Zombie decks, which only helps Zombie decks even more.
- You can use "Dark Dust Spirit" to destroy your "Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys" and get its effect next turn.
- Use this with "Dimensional Fissure", "Royal Decree" and "D.D. Survivor". You will always have a needed tribute and your opponent will be unable to stop you when you go for a direct attack. If he sets a monster, use "Swords of Revealing Light".
- Activate "Light of Intervention" and play "Dimensional Fissure", then tribute "D.D. Scout Plane" to Tribute Summon "Dark Dust Spirit". Destroy all other Face-up monsters using the effect of "Dark Dust Spirit" and attack your opponent directly with "Dark Dust Spirit". As this card returns to the Owner's Hand at the End Phase, "D.D. - Alternatively, use D.D. Survivor to lessen any damage you would take; also good because Survivor gives you the option of returning him in defense mode.
- This card works well with Dark World monsters such as "Sillva, Warlord of Dark World" and "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World". Both cards can either be used to provide either tribute fodder for him, or if you manage to summon him beforehand, can be summoned afterwords for a total of 4500 direct damage.

- This and the other Spirit monsters can easily counter "Light and Darkness Dragon"'s effect. Since returning Spirit monsters to the hand during the End Phase is obligatory, "Light and Darkness Dragon" will negate it again and again until his ATK is too low.
- When the first effect activates, "Light and Darkness Dragon" will be weak enough for "Dark Dust Spirit" to destroy in battle that turn, as long as at least one other card is/was negated.
- "Ceasefire" can flip your opponent's face-down monsters face-up so that they will be destroyed by "Dark Dust Spirit"'s effect. However, this will also flip your face-down monsters face-up, so use "Ceasefire" carefully.
- This card could also be useful in a Fire King deck, as it will destroy your monsters, thereby activating their effects.
