- This card can be Tribute Summoned with one Tribute by using "The Trojan Horse", "Superheavy Samurai Big Waraji", "Chronomaly Mayan Machine" and "The First Monarch".
- "Geartown" can be used to Summon this card in various ways:
- Use "Cost Down" or "Star Blast" (if 1000 LPs is paid) with "Geartown" and this monster can be Summoned without Tributes.
- "Level Conversion Lab" can also work, if between a 2 and a 4 is rolled. If a 5 or a 6 is rolled, "Geartown" can still ease the Summoning of this card.
- Tribute "Hardened Armed Dragon" for this card, making it hard to leaves the field except by battle (although not many monsters can defeat this monster through direct battles, at least not while destroying themselves), banishing it, Tributing it, or returning it to the hand/Deck.
- If this monster is Tribute Summoned by using 1 "Hardened Armed Dragon", the effect of "Limiter Removal" can be used without having to worry about this card being destroyed
- Tribute Summon this card with your "March of the Monarchs" to have a powerful monster immune to most monster removal cards.
- If this card attacks, Spells and Traps can be activated without having to worry about them being negated by your opponent's Spells and Traps.
- Keep in mind that this card cannot stop the effects of Effect Monsters from activating. Cards like "Gravity Blaster", "Ancient Gear Hydra", "Ancient Gear Wyvern" and "Ancient Gear Beast" can alleviate this drawback.
- "Curse of Anubis" and "Micro Ray" can allow this card's attack to deal damage equal to its full ATK.
- "Lineage of Destruction" can allow this card to attack once again in a row if it destroys a Defense Position monster.
- Remember that the opponent cannot activate Spells and Traps only when "Ancient Gear Golem" attacks. It's true that cards like "Sakuretsu Armor" will never affect them, but pay attention to cards like "Mirror Force" or "Widespread Ruin", because they can destroy "Golem" even if it's not declaring an attack itself. Also, pay attention to cards which can be activated when it's Summoned, like "Trap Hole", "Torrential Tribute" or "Solemn Warning", but most of all pay attention to all cards that can be activated at any time, like "Shadow Spell", "Karma Cut", "Phoenix Wing Wind Blast" and "Offerings to the Doomed", because they can stop or destroy "Golem" without letting yourself time to attack with it.
- This card becomes very dangerous if combined with "Safe Zone", because a monster nearly unbeatable is obtained: furthermore the drawback of "Safe Zone" which doesn't allow to attack directly becomes negligible due to the enormous ATK and the piercing damage of "Ancient Gear Golem".
- Remember that this card cannot be Special Summoned, so if it's sent to the Graveyard, it won't be revived and used once again. A good way to avoid this difficulty is to use cards like "Monster Reincarnation", "Ancient Gear Workshop" or "A Feather of the Phoenix", to bring "Ancient Gear Golem" back from the Graveyard and have the chance to re-use it.
- Since this card is difficult to re-use if it is sent to the Graveyard (it cannot be Special Summoned), use cards like "Compulsory Evacuation Device" on it to save it from destruction, in order to have the chance to Normal Summon it again during this Duel.
