TCG Rulings
- When "Sinister Sprocket" is used as a Synchro Material Monster, if the Synchro Monster becomes a DARK monster when it is Synchro Summoned (due to "DNA Transplant", etc.), you can activate "Sinister Sprocket's" effect.
OCG Rulings
- This card's effect activates after the Synchro Monster is successfully Synchro Summoned.[2]
OCG Semi-Official Rulings
- As the effect of this monster is not mandatory, it looks as though it will miss the timing, similar to how Pinch Hopper cannot be activated when it is Tributed. However, Konami has ruled that this card's effect is an exception to the common rulings of missing the timing, and the effect can still be activated after it is sent to the Graveyard for the Synchro Summon of a DARK Synchro Monster.[3]
